Today was the grand opening party for the new Aurora Clinic in Plymouth. They invited the whole town(maybe even the whole county) and everybody came. The reception was from 11 until 3. We arrived in the lot at 11:00 and it was almost packed and the line stretched from the doors to the street. Dick was discouraged, but we hied over to the end of the line where I ran into some friends, Lil and Ken Pipping, who visited with us as we moved to the doors. They moved us through surprisingly fast. We were in the building in 30 minutes or less. But by the time we got in and toured the building, Dick was really tired. We went over to the food tent anyway and found Jim and Michelle. They had a good spread, hot dogs, brats, potato and fruit salad and ice cream treats.

There was a band in the tent (kind of loud and not my favorite music but they were not bad.) We left after we ate, just before Donald Driver arrived to talk and sign autographs for the children. We were glad we left when we did because on the way home, it started to rain and it just poured for quite a while. Thunder too, so Chelsea was not a happy little girl.

They gave some really nice gifts to all who attended too. So it was altogether a nice day.

When we got home I finished putting the spinach/noodle casserole together for our dinner with Jim and Michelle this evening. I had made a chocolate meringue pie yesterday. We had decided to eat together tonight so that we could discuss the house. The chocolate pie was amazing.

I quilted a bit this afternoon too. Slowly I am getting somewhere. Soon the end will be in sight and then I will find myself pushing to finish.

When we were young, Mother was active in church. At one point she became the president of the Christian Mothers at church. She was so busy that Jeff ended up writing words to a song that he would sing when she had to go anywhere. "We lost our Mother to the Christian Mothers."

One time when turkeys for the turkey dinner were still being baked in homes, on of our cats got on the table and started eating off of the carcass. Mom was quite upset, but they needed that bird, so she cut off the gnawed part plus a bit and told them that one of her boys had snitched.

The kid's mother seems to have stabilized after this last surgery so we must pray for continued improvement.

Love

Mary
