Home all day.    I got a lot done too.

There was snow on the ground when we got up this morning.    Not enough to plow the streets, but our plower salted so I didn't take Nicky for too long a walk as I stuck to the grassy areas.   He has had a teeny sore on his right front paw that I am trying to get healed.

He has not eaten today.   I just don't understand him.  He gobbled everything down last evening that I had put out in the morning so I am hoping for that today.    I just wish I knew what he likes.

I worked on my new sewing project and on the plans for the 2015 CWI Gathering.

I left for Mass at 3:15 as I was the scheduled lector AND was singing in the choir.    I wanted to let Fr. Dan know that I would come to walk in with him and the servers after the choir sang the prelude.   That does work out just fine, and one can easily do the lector duties from the choir loft (not really a loft anymore, but I don't know what to call it.)

So after we sang our prelude, I walked back to join Father and he says that he has the flu and wants me to serve communion too.   I kind of panicked and told him that I was in the choir too.   He just said, come over when it is time.   So.   I did all of my ministries in one mass.   Too exhausting.   One of my choir members asked if I was going to say the Mass next week.   I think I was insulted.   She said that if I was she wasn't coming.   Pray for Fr. Dan, he is a sick puppy.

Another day at home tomorrow.  It is supposed to be a sleety snowy or rainy night tonight.   What they are describing is not good so I will be glad to be home.   Hope Mr. Nick and I can go for a real walk tomorrow.

Richard and Brenda sent Nicky some toys to play with.    He doesn't seem to know HOW to play, but I will be trying to teach him.   We have been together for a week now.   He is a sweet little doggy.   I am so pleased that the timing was good for us.

Home all day today.

Nicky and I had another day totally at home.    We are still figuring out schedules and food time.

I was beginning to get worried because he had not eaten all day.   Then. just as I was going to give him a whole new bowl with yet another kind of wet food, he inhaled the food in the bowl.   Go figure.  Maybe he only eats at night.   I will just put dry food down tomorrow morning and then give some canned at about 4PM and see what happens.  Unless he asks for something.

My friend, Janet, stopped by this afternoon with her granddaughters, Jillian and Piper.   We have a picture of Jillian nose to nose with Roxie.   Now we have Jillian and Piper loving Nicky up.   I am so pleased.   He was absolutely wonderful with the girls, even the two year old who as any two years old was jerky.    He was delighted with them.    Janet, on the other hand, made him nervous.   Adults seem to bother him.   Janet says maybe he is trying to protect me.   Children are more his size so he likes them.    Well, he will get used to people and eventually feel secure with me.

Tomorrow another quiet day.   I am going to get to work on a couple of personal projects.   About time, we will be three days into this new year after all.

Nicky actually barked this evening.    I was walking him and he saw two of my neighbors walking in the dark and he actually barked.   In the house when he wants something, he usually just kind of whines until I fix it or distract him.

Last night I was in bed by 8:30PM and may go sooner tonight because my head is throbbing.

I drove into Sheboygan late this morning to have lunch with Mother for New Years Day.   Dick and I used to have her over for dinner on New Years.   I brought her a bottle of Madiera for a New Year present.  We had a great visit and the lunch was good.

Around 4pm I went across the green area to my neighbor Edie's home.   She had invited her son and family and some of the neighbors for a soup supper for New Years Day.    What a good idea.   Her soup was wonderful and she had home made bread and salad to go with it.  Then it was topped off with a scrumptious rum cake.

I like this neighborhood.   Good people.

So Happy New Year to you all.

Only one more day

Only one more day left in this year.    I am glad.   The last few months have been rather tense and there is something about a new beginning.   Even if it is only from one day to the next the symbolism of going from one year to another is exciting.

Was home most of the day with Nicky.    He is doing very well.  Starting to cling, but did go off and take a nap by himself in the late morning which I felt showed a bit of comfort.   We are still working on knowing  schedules and his appetite is down.   But he is an agreeable little guy.

We went to Kettle Moraine Veterinary Clinic for his "free" checkup.   The visit was free but we did update one shot and I had them check his little butt as he seems to be chewing at it too much.   He does have a little infection so guess who will be putting ointment on a dog's butt twice a day for a week or so.

Hopefully I will have something more inspirational to say tomorrow night as we pass into 2014.

Monday

The Monday before a new year begins.   And it was a typical busy Monday.

I left at 8:45AM so that I would get to St. Mary's before the Holy Dusters finished cleaning the church so that I could pick up the hosts to take for communion to Mom and her fellow Catholics at Meadow View Manor.  Then we had our last bible study of the year.  We had a great discussion about the fact that man seems to always need God or gods to explain his existence.

Next to Meadow View Manor and Mom.    Gave her communion first, then went to find the others.    I am a bit distressed. One of my ladies passed away while I was gone.   That is always a bit hard.   She was such a lovely happy person.  Mom and I had a lovely visit.   I am going to have lunch with her on New Year's Day.    I want to bring her a bottle of Madeira Wine.   Uncle George Deeley used to have that wine on hand to share and Mom likes it.

Home again,  I took Nicky out right away.   He was jumping all over me, he was so happy to see me.   We have a ways to go, of course, but he is accepting me as his friend.   He still is sleeping at my feet at night.

I went to see Dr  Wiegand, my chiropractor, today.   She worked on my neck and ribs and I hope it will help as much as it did before I left for Oklahoma.

Tomorrow I will be home all day.   Nicky and I do have an appointment at 6:30PM with Kettle Moraine Veterinary Clinic, so that they can get him on their books.    I can hardly wait til they see him.   My neighbor, Bob Hurrie came over on some Condo business and was impressed with him.
Nicky was a bit nervous but Bob knows doggies and was very patient with him.

Tomorrow, I believe that I will have my end of year and after being gone and holiday tangles untangled and can get back to writing and quilting again.    I have begun a new quilt project and will share when it is done.

So until tomorrow.

A whole day at home for Nicky and me.    I feel good about it.   He slept in my bed last night which I know will help bond us.    He finally went to the bathroom and ate, so I know it is just a matter of our understanding our ways.

He is a very sweet little thing.

I got a lot of other things done around here and am ready to start tomorrow with a usual busy Monday.  My ribs are very sore.   I see my chiropractor tomorrow and hope that she will be able to help.

Meanwhile,  I am now going to take my little Nicky out for his final evening walk and go to bed with cold packs on my ribs.
