He made it across the Falls Save and sound.    Thank God.

Our promised rain does not look too promising.  That means watering the plants on the deck again and that Sunday, if not before, I need to start watering the berms.

My plants are looking good.   The tomatoes are growing slowly.   Jeff said that he and Kathy are watering the garden but that critters are very interested in the garden because things are green.   I told him perhaps I would be giving him tomatoes this year.

Jody was here to clean this morning and Colleen is here this evening to put Dick to bed.    I went out to get some supplies and to be ready for the Bloomsday event tomorrow.

Home again,  I am just in time to watch Nick Walenda walk over Niagara Falls on a tightrope.   May the angels hold him up.

Not much to say.

I went to Yoga this morning with my friend Felicia.   That worked out pretty well.   I did experience some pain in my ribs so I "listened to my body" and rested for a while.   It was a bit warm and I felt a bit odd but went and got some water and breathed deep and I think I can deal with these things.   I believe that this can be useful for my healing if I do it wisely.   Obviously the doctors are not doing very well and this is much cheaper.

Before the class I met Felicia at the Craverie.  I got a breakfast wrap and brought half home for Dick.   Good thing.  It appears that I forgot to buy eggs when I shopped yesterday.   So he was glad to get it.

So I hope your day was as nice.

I need to find a shorter password.   Too much chance for fat fingers to goof things up.

I got up at 6AM.  I was not happy about that.  I slept well, but bed just felt SO good this morning.   However,  Kay from Embrace, came at 7AM so I was able to get out of the house to my errands in a timely manner.    I went grocery shopping first.   That took a bit of time because one of the Piggly Wiggly staff had some questions about how insurance will pay for prosthesis.   She was watching a documentary that indicated that some insurance policies will only provide one prosthesis in a lifetime.   She was upset because , as we discussed,  what about a child that is GROWING!.   I told her that Dick's policy provides for a replacement at least every two or three years.  I can't imagine ANY policy expecting a prosthesis to last for a lifetime.    Shopping went quite well.  I spent more than I wanted to but replaced several cleaning products and kitty litter and stocked up a bit on canned goods that I use a LOT.

I finished just in time to go to my haircut appointment.   The name of the place has changed but I still have Jessica so I am happy.

Then I went to the bank to quickly cash a check and finally, I dropped off three boxes of stuff to St. Vincent De Paul.   Home again by 10AM,

Dick was falling asleep in his chair so at about 11AM, I fed him his lunch and then he went down for a nap after I cathed him.  I ate my lunch an took a nice nap myself.

We are in transitions.   Monday was our last appointment with the VNA.  Now I am struggling to make sure that there is no break in the delivery of the catheterizing equipment that we need.   I feel for people who are not able to think ahead and just assume there is a transition.  BECAUSE THERE ISN'T.

The pot roast was wonderful.   We will be having it again.  When do you want to come over?

So I am done for the day.   Hope your day was as pleasant.

It is always nice to have a whole day at home.   And it was so lovely outside that I left the doors open for most of the afternoon.

I didn't even take a shower today.   Just got dressed, brushed my teeth, and washed my face and we were on our way.   Today was trash day.   I had four bags plus cardboard so it took a bit to get everything out there.

I also have a couple of boxes ready to drop off at St. Vinnie's tomorrow.    Every little bit helps to get things cleaned out and more efficient around here.

The grounds people were busy putting fill dirt around the houses and under air conditioners and all.   The boss remembered that I had asked him to check out the gutters so they did that too.    They are so nice.   I had baked cookies this afternoon, so as they were finishing up, I took a bunch out to them.    I will have to do that more often.   They work hard and have been so very good about doing any cleanup that I have asked of them.
And they are always pleasant to me.

We had pasties for supper.   I think this could be something to share with Leslie and everybody when they come next month.

Saturday is Bloomsday already.   I need to get my research done on that - tomorrow I think.

Friday evening, I am going to Van Horn Dodge to look at some Grand Caravans and get costs and everything else involved.   Then the man I am working with will bring one over for Dick to see and we can go through things with him.

So a busy day but all at home and most of it mental, not physical.    I loved it.    Vicky and Kim from Embrace are here to put Dick to bed for me and I will be on a conference call from 8PM to 9PM.

A nice way to end the day.

Tomorrow is shopping day.  Dick has requested a pot roast so I am putting one into the slow cooker tomorrow morning and it will be ready for supper.

Hello World.

I feel so good.  My Quicken was not corresponding with my bank and I spent an hour on the phone with Quicken to get the problem of them not communicating taken care of.     I always am so proud when I can do that all by myself.

I also spent a bit of this afternoon working on the process of replacing our VW Wagon with a van that will be able to carry the motorized chair and lift Dick into the passenger seat.    Baby steps.  But we will get there.  It will not be a really fast thing.   (As you all know, I prefer quick solutions.)I am hoping that in a month or so we will again be independent again.

Bible Study was pleasant.  There were 7 of us.   I must email Helen to find out how her healing is going.   We all were praying for our friend Jerry Ziegler, who passed on Sunday Morning.   He was a delightful man and a cousin of mine.

Mother was just fine this morning.   We got all her bills paid and I filled her pill box for her.   She got a letter from George about their trip to Peru, but I have to wait until next week to read it. Francois  Pitzner came to visit Mom and asked to read it.   She is from Peru and I think often is homesick.   She loves to talk to our Georgina, Shane's Wife.   They can even talk Spanish to each other.

So the day is done and Dick went to bed early.   I believe that I will follow him.

I got a lot of the business end of the household taken care of this afternoon and am feeling quite smug about that.  Some of it was rather goofy and difficult.

Pray for Jerry and take care of yourselves.  I love you.

Sunday, June 10, 2012

Well, pictures won't be on tonight either.    I figured out how to do it and now I can't find the pictures I want to send.   Go figure.

Today was a lovely Sunday.   Didn't have to go anywhere.  I slept til 8AM.   Dick slept until 10AM.  So I had two hours of doing things at my own pace.   I had everything set up for Dick when he woke up.   So when he DID finally get up, I went outside and washed all the outside windows.   I had the Windex hose attachment system and it was great.    I hooked it to the hose.   Then I rinsed a window, then turned it to wash, then rinsed again.     I am sure that hand washing would be better but thing are much brighter out there and I KNOW that the windows are clean.    AND I COULD DO IT MYSELF.    I am so grateful for all the help I get from Embrace Care. (of course, I do pay them.)   And even more for Bobbie coming every Monday to give me the freedom to go to Bible Study and to visit Mother.   But it is nice when I can still DO stuff.

I was in the shade for all the washing and it was very warm so I loved it.    I sprayed myself with bug spray so did not get a single bug bite.

I made some donuts with my Hamilton Beach donut maker  which has to be 35 years old.   And now I remember why I stopped using it.    The first donuts have to be thrown away because no matter how long you wait it is not hot enough.  Then it takes 7 to 10 minutes to make each two donuts.   So , I made 13 and that takes over an hour.   Lots of moving around and work for the result.
Though the donuts are really good.

I am cleaning things out and I am afraid that the donut maker and the waffle iron and the George Foreman are going on their merry way.

So another Sunday comes to a close.   I just checked the Plymouth Review more closely and the notice that I sent to the review is printed about Bloomsday.   CWI and the Stafford are hosting a 2 hour Bloomsday celebration.    Bloomsday, in case you don't know, is an annual event that started in Dublin in 1954 to celebrate James Joyce's Ulysses , which is considered an absolute masterpiece.    It commemorates June 16th which is the day that is Ulysses occurs.  It is a day in the life of Leopold Bloom which is how the name comes about.

We had tons of fun last year and hope for the same this year and perhaps each year we will become more popular.

So sleep tight.   It is supposed to cool down to perhaps the 70s during the week which is my favorite temperature.  My herbs are looking so good.
