We had a lovely morning with Richard and Brenda. Richard and Brenda gave Dick the most recent version of Civilization, a computer game Dick used to play all the time. Richard installed it for him last night. They also did a bit of trouble shooting for us in the computers. Actually we are in pretty good shape but it is always so good to have them here to ask questions of. on things that confuse us.

I had baked cranberry scones and we had them for breakfast with scrambled eggs cooked with green onions and cream cheese.

They are embarking on a home renovation project this summer and were heading back to Madison to go to a Kitchen Store before it closed. The rest of the day was quiet for us.

I had a really nice nap this afternoon and went to the 4PM Mass.

Today is the wedding of Sara and Vince out in California. Under other circumstances, Dick and I would have been there. We miss not being there for our Granddaughter's big events. I pray for a long and happy marriage.

Tomorrow I will go to take Mother her Mother's Day greeting and presents. Jeff, Kathy and Sara are bringing her dinner and Jeff will be picking up her herbs for her. Shane and Georgina will be there too, I imagine. It is supposed to be nicer tomorrow, thought still cold. I will HAVE to pick up my turkey blind from the field.

While I was at church today, Chelsea woke up and apparently wanted to go out. Dick said she wandered around and looked for me, even going to far as to go into the bedroom and jump up on the side of the bed to look for me. She made the rounds twice in the hour that I was gone. Poor thing did not see me go so couldn't figure it out. She always finds me in bed during the night and just figured that I would appear there, I guess.

The day is done and all is well. Did I tell you I brought in a nice bouquet of lilacs that are making the house so fresh and delightful.

God love you

Today is Dick's birthday. We have agreed not to exchange presents but I sent him an e card and I also gave him a card from Walgreens. We had a special breakfast too.

I spent the day cleaning off surfaces and finishing a lot of computer work. We had a light lunch and I took a nap.

Bobbie and Bill got her at about 3:30PM. Bobbie and I took care of racking and filtering three of the wines we have fermenting down in the wine room. Then Bobbie mentioned "the wedding". Sara and Vince are getting married in California tomorrow and I did not get the card in the mail. I will send the card and present out tomorrow and send an ecard tonight so they know that we are thinking and praying for them. I have been praying for successful and loving marriages for both of the girls.

Richard and Brenda came at about 5PM. They went to the Depot for perch dinners for Dick's 80th birthday dinner. Boy were they good. Then we had fresh banana cream pie that Bobbie made for his dessert. He was a happy guy.

They will be here until sometime tomorrow so we will have a nice visit.

So that is today.

I will report in again tomorrow.

God love you

It was mostly a stay at home day. The only time I had to leave was to pick up a prescription for Chelsea and one for Mother.

The rest of the day was spent cleaning the kitchen and cooking. I baked some scones and made a Waldorf Salad and a Pasta and Veggie salad.

It was a lovely day. A bit chilly but the sun was shining and the sky was blue.

Our cleaning lady, Joan, came for the last time. She got a full time job at a bank so can now stop cleaning. We will miss her, she was efficient and caring.

I called Kenny last night after I finished the blog. He DID get a turkey, so I don't feel bad about not going out again at all. I told him that I really always wanted a fanned turkey tail for the wall and he is going to fix this one for me. He got a 23 pounder. What a nice guy. He said Dolores is grateful I want it as they have three hanging already.

So, tomorrow, I will go get my blind and that will be my only outing. I have decided not to go to lunch tomorrow because Richard and Brenda are coming in the evening for Dick's birthday and I want to be rested and ready.

Have a nice night. I am hoping for a really good night's sleep.

Love

God love you

What a day. I got up at 3:45AM to get ready to go turkey hunting. Chelsea was very uncooperative and was not "good" after 12PM when she got me up.

Anyway, I met Kenny out at the site at 4:30AM. It had rained during the night but was not raining when we got there. So we loaded up and walked out to our blinds. I had put my fence up the day before and Kenny put his tent up on Monday. It was a really pleasant walk out there and I found my place without any problems at all. I got all settled and loaded my gun.

Then it started to rain. I gutsed it out for about 45 minutes until the second layer of my clothes was wet. It took a while because I was under the trees and it was not a real down pour. But when I started feeling like a wet rag, I knew it was time to leave. So I did. I decided it was not fun any more and that is why I go out. I got home at about 6 and took a shower. Dick did not wake up til about 7AM. He was, of course, glad to see me. I called Bobbie to tell her that she did not have to come and walk the girl after all.

So I had an extra day at home. I called our neighbor, Dick, to see how he is doing. They are still doing some diagnosing. I went grocery shopping. My sweetheart is very happy with me. I got raw beef for him. He had mentioned that he thought he would like that.

I took a short nap this morning and spent a couple of hours downstairs sewing.

This evening I called Ken and Dolores and called just as Kenny had come home. He Got A Turkey!!!!!.. I am so happy for him and told him that I would just as soon not go out again as I am so very tired these days. Guess What! He is going to dry and mount the tail of this turkey for me. The mounted turkey fans are so very beautiful. What a guy.

I found out today that Celtic Women will be able to be as involved as we want in the Sheboygan History Museum's Third Saturday in June, June 17. The name of the program is "When Irish Eyes Were Smiling - The Story of Immigration." We have to do some planning but should be able to satisfy everybody.

So. It is 7PM and I will be in bed before 9PM as I am still very tired.

Hope your day was as full as mine.

God love you

Another very busy day. Tomorrow will be even worse. This morning started with the usual caring for everybody and then the trash take out. Chelsea and I had a lovely walk this morning. The sun was shining, the birds were singing and all was right with the world.

During the morning, I took care of a lot of phone calls and emails regarding CWI and Mother. Good news. I got a call from Dr. Hancock's nurse to tell me that all the tests came our perfect. I called Mother right away to tell her and she was really pleased. I also know that her life line is just fine. I called Don Danks and he told me that St. Vincent de Paul is taking care of that, as long as she wears it. I could honestly tell him that she wears it 24/7 so she is doing her part. The only problem is that when she needs it she usually passes out and then is not capable of pressing the button.

Dick had an appointment at the anticoagulation clinic at 11:00AM. His count is still a bit low so Patti adjusted the dose and we will go back in three weeks. We are able to coordinate it with my annual physical with Dr. Murthy.

We had lasagna for our dinner.

Then I went to the Plymouth Library for the Kettle County Quilters meeting. We had a speaker and had opened it up to other quilters. We had to turn people away. The speaker was Mercedes Chalmers who gave lots of tips on quilting and is well known in the area. We charged $5.OO with two items for the food pantry or $10 to those who wanted to attend. As I said, we had to turn people away so it was a great success. She was absolutely worth it. I got so many tips, I will be boggled for weeks.

I also saw SO many fellow Quilters and friends that I had not seen for so long.

Home again. Dick and I had bean burritos for supper and I am going to bed at 8PM because I have to meet Kenny out at the turkey hunting site at 4:30AM.

Now I will watch Dancing with the Stars and then go to bed. I want to be as rested as possible for my great white hunter day.

God love you and yours.

A more than typically busy Monday. Chelsea gave me somewhat of a rough night to begin with. She got me at 11PM, which did not surprise me as she had not been "good" since Sunday morning, but then she came in again at 4AM and then again at 5:30AM.

Bible Study was this morning as usual. We had a lot to pray for and had a lively discussion of Mark's parable of the landowner whose renters killed his son trying to avoid paying him a share of the profits. Just a point of history. Those rotten renters actually thought that if they got rid of the owner's heir, they could claim the property. That was actually feasible in that time.

Then I went over to Mom's. I took her to see Dr. Hancock. We had an 11:15AM appointment. By the time we got into the examination room it was almost 11:45AM. Dr. Hancock did his exam, got her back on the necessary meds and sent her down to the lab for tests. She handled everything pretty well. I called this afternoon and she said she was tired but did sound pretty strong. She should hear on the tests tomorrow or the next day. We are sure that the infection she had is cleared up.

Anyway I did not get home until 1:30PM. I was getting worried because of Chelsea. But thank the Lord, when I am not around, she generally does not move around much and she was asleep when I came in. I was so worried that maybe she would have to go out and Dick would have been in a mess. One time, he did let her out on her long leash out the front door. But that is awkward, especially if she should poop.

I took a short nap this afternoon. Baked some cookies for the Quilt Club event tomorrow afternoon. We are having a speaker, Mercedes Chalmers, talk to us about "Tricks of the Trade." We have a "sell out" crowd. We got a much bigger response than we thought we would and had to turn people away as we meet at the Plymouth Library and there is only so much space.

Tomorrow morning, I also want to go out to the field and set up my blind for turkey hunting the next day. AND Dick has to go to the anti coagulation clinic in late morning.

My neighbor Dick, is in the hospital with pneumonia and perhaps a mild heart attack. His girl friend, Tammy, called to tell me. Now I have to figure out what to do about Chelsea for her mid morning walk. I knew Dick was not feeling too well, but he thought it was asthma and I had hoped that he would be well enough to come and let her out at about 9AM as I intend to come home at noon.

I have an appointment at 3:30PM and have to shop in the afternoon. It would be nice if I would just get a turkey and be able to be done with it.

I have everything pretty much ready to go for the next two days. Why does everything always get jammed into one week?

Love you all
God loves you too.

Sunday, May 02, 2010

A nice but odd Sunday. We got a call from our neighbor Dick rather early this morning. I know that he has not been feeling well, asthma and allergies and told him that he should call if he needed help. He needed some groceries. I am surprised he called that early but went and picked his food up after breakfast and walking Chelsea. I brought him some of my minestrone soup too.

I spent a good hunk of the day cleaning my desk. I still cannot find my gold watch and the three now four missing rings. I am totally baffled. But now I have the cleanest desk in the world. Roxie has a spot to sit on the shelves at the side now and is fascinated by the perch.

I was remembering another cat that passed through my life. My Uncle Noel and Aunt Lois had a cat called Bolivar. He was black and white and lived to be over 20 years old. My Grandpa Bowser was not all that fond of cats but when he visited Noel and Lois, Bolivar always searched Grandpa out to sit on. Grandpa would tolerate him until he started kneading. Bolivar still had his claws.

As I said he lived to be over 20. In his last year he just ate and lay in the sun in the yard. Uncle Noel would walk by him and pet him say. "Aren't you ever going to die?" Yes, Bolivar had quite a life.

We had lasagna for our dinner and Minestrone soup for supper.

Next week is Dick's birthday. He will be 80 years old. We want to get him up and walking again this week.

That is all for today. Take care and be happy.

God love you

Mary
