Isn't it beautiful. This is the shelf unit that Bobbie made for me. The next picture will show how I am using it.

I have to tell your a story. Yesterday, when I got home. I found out that Chelsea had coerced Bobbie into taking her for a walk, and then for a ride. She went out with Bobbie and stopped by her car and would not move until Bobbie took her for a ride.

She is quite the little manipulator.

God love you

Would you believe. Either Roxie has decided to send balloons into the stratophere or Waylon is haunting us. I woke up this morning to find the balloon floating up on the ceiling.

Pictures of my birthday. It was great and I am winding down. The three pictures are:

1. The birthday cake that I bought to take to Rhine Plymouth for the the bust up party for league. As it is really my birthday it seemed proper to bring the cake. I just went to the Pig and told them to make one pretty. It WAS pretty and it was also very good. It was almost all gone when I left and I brought a piece home for Dick too. We had steak sandwiches, beans and potato salad for our dinner. A great birthday dinner, I must say. Everybody sang Happy Birthday to me too.

2. A picture of flowers that I received from Richard and Brenda for my birthday. They are so lovely with three gorgeous orange roses. Thank you!!

3. A picture of flowers received from Les and Bill, beautiful yellow and white daisies and red carnations and a box of candy. And Thank you!!

When I see the balloons on the flowers I think of our Waylon. Whenever a balloon came into the house, he would get a wild look in his eye and run right at it, no matter where I put it, and slice the ribbon with his teeth. Then we would have a balloon floating around the house until it deflated. Usually, it would manage to get into the ceiling fan blades and get knocked around before we worried about it.

Roxie has checked them both out but jumped down when I told her too. Hope she will stay away.

Bart and Barb called shortly after I got home from Rhine and while Barb and I were finishing up, Bret called so both the boys remembered their Mom and made her very very happy. It really is not hard to do.

Bobbie and Bill came by this afternoon, actually, I was at lunch with my friends when they got her so it was a nice surprise for me when I got home. They brought our a shelf unit that Bobbie made for me for right in back of me by my desk. Now I can have the things I am working on near me and won't have to pile them on the floor or the easy chair. It is beautiful. I will send a picture of it tomorrow. I am just too tired to do it now and I just thought about it.

I talked to Mom and got lots of ecards and other cards too along with the sweetest card ever from my sweetheart. So Now it is time to say goodnight.

I will be on again tomorrow.

God love you

This will be a very short blog, because I stayed home all day and that cuts down on newsy things fright from the git go.

I spent the morning cleaning out under the sink and writing a couple of articles for the Celtic Women newsletter. Then I fixed pork chops and sauerkraut for our noon meal. Boy was it good.

I rested a while after lunch, then went outside and weeded the front berm. Our lawn maintenance people were here and Rita, a lady on the board, was instructing them as to what weeding and tree removal needed to be done. I also planted the herbs that I bought last Saturday and swept the deck and cleaned out one of the gutters that I could reach.

Then I was tired so I cam in and have been pretty much just puttering and catching up again.

So tomorrow if it doesn't rain, I am going to water the back so that I can weed around my bird bath and the rhubarb.

Until tomorrow night.

God love you

It was a productive day. I got out of here to do the grocery shopping shortly after 8AM. That went really well. Then I went home and put everything away before heading out on my other main journey. I took the flyers for the Mary Pat Kelly talk out to all the places that I could think of in Plymouth. The library, two restaurants, the art center, 52 Stafford, the Exchange Bank and the two book stores.

I got home in time to prepare Kraft Dinner with cheese filled hot dogs in it for our dinner. Then took a short nap.

Tom Schmidtke came over to the house to have me sign the papers to reapportion my IRA stock account. He came to the house so that Dick could hear what is going on and to be sure that he understands. He is such a caring man and I like what we have done.

Chelsea had had a rather difficult time since her haircut. Her bottom seems kind of itchy for one thing. And she was pacing off and on for the last 24 hours. But she is finally settling down a bit. Tonight we went out for a little walk and I ran into Marilyn Bordeau sitting on her porch. She and Jim were gone for the winter and got back late. I had not had a time to talk to her. So we sat and visited for a while. I hope that all that fresh air makes Chelsea sleep better tonight.

Tomorrow I get to be home all day. Dick and I have a couple of chores and I have to finish two articles for the CWI newsletter and get them sent to Maureen.

So it will be busy but at least I can work at my own speed.

Have a nice Thursday. I sure intend to.

God love you

Today was "do" day for our Chelsea. I took her over to Gini's Grooming at 9AM for her annual haircut. Here is the result. Isn't she adorable. She is still, I think, a bit confused. Gini said that she was wonderfully behaved. Even when she got her nails cut. Gini said that she just looked the other way. But it was worth every minute because she is beautiful and will be much more comfortable for the summer months coming up.

While she was being taken care of, I ran several errands. I went to Fleet for pecans, almonds and peal and stick tile for the wine celler workbench. I am sick of not being able to really clean that bench. Then I stopped at Walgreens for prescriptions and vitamins. Finally, I stopped at Clark Gas Station to fill up the car and put air in the right rear tire that seems to need a push about every 6 to 8 weeks. I got all that done in the hour that Chelsea was being groomed.

We had leftover Swiss steak and mashed potatoes for our lunch. Gets better with time. Then I took a nap. After I woke up, I did a bit of gardening and cleaned out under the sink in my bathroom before helping Dick bath and change his clothes. You are not going to believe this. Under the sink, in a plastic wash pan, was a jewelry box. In the box were three rings. NO. Not what your are thinking, now my Grandma's or the other two insured rings, but two stricktly costume rings that I had not even missed and the Turtle turquoise ring that I had missed and did report to the police and the insurance company. There is NO WAY that I would have put that box into that pan so not I am even more confused. But it does give me hope that perhaps I will find the others.

Now we are watching Dancing with the Stars, the Results. It is quite exciting tonight. Only 4 couples left and the tension is rising.

Have a great Wednesday. I will be shopping and distributing posters for the talk on June 3 by Mary Pat Kelly, author of Galway Bay at St. Patrick's Church in Adell. Tell everybody you know. She is dynamic and so is the book.

God love you

Monday, May 17, 2010

Whew, I got through another busy Monday.

Started off at 6:30AM. Chelsea had also gotten me up at 11:30 and then again at 3:30AM so it was a broken night. But at least she made it worth my while taking her out.

I had to print out and gather a few things for my visit with Mother this morning. I also had to finish a poem (at least so that it was ready to read) so I could take it to the Cream City Writers this afternoon.

I left at 9AM to go to Bible Study. We are getting closer to the end of Mark all the time. In the next few weeks, we will have to discuss where we want to go from here. This week we had the story of the poor woman who married seven brothers as they died one after the other and then the Sadducees asked Jesus who she would be married to in the afterlife. Tried to trip him up, they did. But of course, it did not work. We had a long discussion on the importance of relationships, such as marriage, in the afterlife. We decided that these are earthly relationships and we really have to believe that heaven is more than that and we cannot possibly understand until we get there.

I went from there to Mother's and helped her get her checkbook up to date. I am able to print off her statement up to date off of the computer which makes it easier.

She looks much better than she did on Thursday and sounds a bit stronger. We visited for a bit until I had to head home to fix Dick his lunch and walk Chelsea.

Then I picked up Jena, one of the writers club members and we drove to Antoinette's to meet another member, my friend Peggy Gasiorowski. Peggy lost her husband several weeks ago and is starting to get back into things again, so lunch and writer's club seemed like a good way to start.

We had a nice meeting and I was home by 2:30PM. I was able to do a bit of garden work, not much, because I ended up talking to the neighbor Harold for a bit. I also stopped over at our neighbor Dick's home too. I am picking up his mail and checking on him every week day, since he is still weak from the hospital stay and is alone. Then Alison Smith, from around the corner called. She said that she will be able to pick up the mail on Mondays and will help him with his trash, so that cuts it down a bit. I thought he looked better today too. Now if he doesn't try to overdue.

Dick and I just finished watching Dancing with the Stars and I did my voting. Chelsea has been walked and I took my nighttime tummy pill so I believe that I will go to bed.

A Little Haiku

One summer morning
I whistled at the Phoebe
And he responded.

Have fun tomorrow. Chelsea gets her haircut. I will send a picture.

A day at home. That was a really nice treat.

Chelsea woke me up at 11:PM and then again at 4:30AM so it was not a bad night since I didn't get up until almost 7AM. The weather was perfect, as far as I am concerned. Warm enough to be pleasant and cool enough not to leave us sweating.

Chelsea and I took a nice walk around the whole complex. I did not let her go into the park as I was afraid that if she got too tired it would be hard on her. She did just fine, though she was following rather than leading on the way home.

I spent the morning cleaning part of the wine room, washing dishes and making a Swiss Steak dinner in the crock pot. Boy did that taste good on top of fresh mashed potatoes.

I took a nap this afternoon, then watered the plants.

We had leftover pasta with a hot dog cut into it for our dinner.

This week will be quite exciting. For one thing, Chelsea will get her haircut on Tuesday. I am sure she will feel pretty good once that is done. Perhaps her tail will not feel so heavy with all of its hair shaved. It sure is drooping a lot these days. She liked today though. Dryer weather is easier on her joints.

Take care and enjoy your week

God love you

Mary
