A very quiet, beautiful day after the storms of last night.

I did not go anywhere.  Mary came and cleaned the house at about 10AM.  My only break in the day.

I finished assembling a quilt top - I DO have to add edgings etc but am ready at that point to assemble.   I still can't find my iron.  Will have to buy a new one as I cannot be quilting without one.

Nicky and I just got back from a lovely walk.   It is beautiful outside.

Soon I will go to bed.

Tornado warnings, hail warnings, Severe thunderstorm warnings.    We no longer have to worry about the drought.    Isn't that nice.    No tornados.   But there was some hail.  After the storm passed, I went to get the mail and found that there were little ice pellets all over the grassy areas.

I saw Dr. Toy, my chiropractor, today.  I am doing much better.   If the storms would let up, I probably would feel wonderful.    I see him again next Wednesday.  We are stretching the times out.

I went to Hobby Lobby and Joanne's Fabrics and have what I need to DO stuff.   What a relief, now that I am feeling better.

Next week, Bart and Barb are going on a vacation to California for Barb's brother's birthday.   I will be watching the critters while they are gone.   Nicky will love that.   The Cats, Jack and Kitch will not be thrilled:)

Until tomorrow.

Morning is damp with the residue of rain
The birds, myriads of them,
Sing and caw and coo as we walk the street
dreaming of sunshine.

Mary J. Kunert

Just to let you know that I am still writing.   Not as much as I should, but since I am starting to feel better and doing more.   I have not been able to locate a writers group in Lawton.   I am going to start a CWI group and don't want to start a writers group too.   Perhaps I will check with the college.   I can be an old lady among young writers.   After all, at my age, I am a "wise woman"   in the nicest sense of the word.

Jeff called today.  They are back from Hawaii where they spent time with Matt and Kaoru and the children.   I think they are glad to be home but sad to have to leave as the old Irish song says.

Did do some sewing.   Tried to find a store to get some fabric, but failed.

The roofers came and checked my roof.   He said he fixed a couple of things but is I leak again to let them know.    I know that roofs are tricky.

I did find an oregano plant and some chive seeds while I was out and when I got home, I planted these.   I cannot believe that there are no chive plants available anywhere in Lawton.

Tomorrow will be busy starting with a chiropractor appointment.   I had a whole five days between the last one and tomorrow.  Dr. Toy says that I AM getting better.

Happy St. Maughold's Day.   He is the patron saint of the Isle of Man you know.

It was a lovely day today, sunny with temps in the 70s and dry.

I went to Mass this morning and then to the Wednesday morning Bible Study.   We are starting Psalms.   So I joined at the right time.  I love Psalms and this is the beginning of the study.  As it is a different program, it will a new experience.  A nice group of people, all ladies.   I really did not ask if men were welcome, I don't know any to ask anyway.

Got home about 12:30PM after filling up the car.  I have a bid and a promise to fix the leaking sunroom roof.   Whew.  Don't want any serious damage done.

I went shopping with Bart this afternoon.  He just wanted company and I was glad to be out and about.

Tomorrow I am home all day. I might do some sewing and am trying to work on sending inquiry letters on my book.

See.  If I put things in writing, I will do them.  I work well with "assignments:)

We have been under tornado, flood and severe thunderstorm watches since about 3PM.   So far, not a drop of rain or thunderclap here in Lawton.

I am ready though.  One must be alert when these conditions exist.   Bart said they were closing the base at 1PM because of the possibility.   If the Army Base takes it seriously, I will too.

I seem to have misplaced or lost my iron in the move.   I do have one of those little wedgie spot irons, so used it to flatten the seams in the strips of the quilt top that I am assembling.   Very tedious, but it worked.

This morning, I had a couple of errands to run,  so I did that just before lunch.

One of my errands was an annoyance.  I got a message from Walgreens that I had a prescription ready.    Turns out it is an antibiotic.   I had lab tests done on April 12 and it apparently I have a UTI.   Nobody called me to tell me but this prescription showed up - TWO WEEKS LATER with no notice.   I even called the Medical Center to find out if it was a possible reorder of the antibiotic for my sinus infection.    I am not impressed with the medical group and am preparing a letter to let them know this.   Aurora always let me know if there were problems with tests.

Oh well,   tomorrow is soon enough but that probably explains why I am still so tired all the time.

Tomorrow is the bible study at Holy Family.    They are starting the new study on Psalms so I am joining at just the right time.   They are using a different study guide than we used when we did Psalms at Blessed Trinity so it will ALL be new.

Til tomorrow.

I did it

I read the Proclamation of the Provisional Government of the Irish Republic, first read by Patrick Pearse on the steps of the GPO in Dublin on April 24, 1916.     I read it on the 25th because I used the post office in Lawton on Gore and 67 for my platform and the post office is closed on Sundays.

Nobody came, but you know me.   I read it anyway.   If I knew more people here, if I had been here longer that three months I may have gotten more of an audience.  BUT one gentleman and his wife gave me thumbs up and were pleased to hear what I was doing.   SO it was all worth it.   AND I really felt strongly about the 100th Anniversary.    I know that the Proclamation is read every year, but 100 years is special.   I do have a picture, but cannot fine my cord to download it and my Picasa is acting weird.   I need to find someone to come and help me sort this out.     I WILL.  I promise.

I had a chiropractor appointment today and don't have to go back til Friday.  Dr. Toy says I am Much better.

 Thank God.

Bless you all and pray for my friend, Peggy, as she has eye surgery tomorrow.

A lovely day

I started off early with Mass at 8:30AM.  It was gorgeous out.  in the upper 70s with a breeze.  Got kind of warm in the house (better get used to that) but the fans kept it comfortable.

I invited Bart and Barb over for dinner tonight.   I prepared Swedish meatballs with mashed potatoes, carrots, salad and coconut cupcakes for dessert.    We had such a nice visit.   I love having company.  (Dick is rolling his eyes, though he did like it when family came.)

Think of me tomorrow at noon.   I will be reading the 1916 Irish Easter Rising Proclamation at the Post office on Gore in Lawton.   Have no idea if anybody will be there or not.   I spread the word to the few people I know.   I could not advertise, but did let the media know that I was doing it.

All the excitement will be over by 1PM.

Please pray for my friend Peggy Hurrie.  She has a macular bubble or hole in her eye.  She isis having a very serious treatment done on Tuesday and will have to keep her head down for up to two weeks.

As I said it was a lovely day.
