The weather has cooled down some.   It was still very humid this morning, but this evening is just perfect.    I plan on opening up the house tomorrow and letting everything air out and freshen up.

It was a quiet day and Dick felt much better today.   He is still very sleepy, but stayed up all morning.  He is not breathing so hard either so I am relieved.

Kay came at 3:30PM and I went to Mass.    Fr. Dan is a nice change.  I loved Fr. Van Beek's sermons but every so many years it is nice to get a new pastor with new messages and views of the readings.   Keeps one awake.   The church IS wise on that.

Only one more night before company arrives.  Yea.

Hope your day was as restful as mine.

What a day.   It topped 102 again outside and is very humid.   We are down into the 80s already at 8PM but it is still SO humid and the mosquitoes are swarming.  Nice to have a cool house to be in.

Dick was kind of out of sorts today.   He did not sleep well last night and had me put him down twice for naps during the day.    He insisted on going to bed tonight at 6:30PM so now I have to wait for him to wake up enough that I can have him take his pills.    I swear that it was one of those days when he had me getting him up or down,( to bed, to the commode) almost every hour.    I wonder if the heat and humidity, even in the house is getting to him.   He does seem out of breath a bit.   Poor guy.

I had a neighbor, Jan, over this afternoon to share and Irish coffee and a piece of lavender bread with Dick and me.   We have not been able to visit for a long time because Jan works SO many hours.   We usually see each other as she is either coming or going to work.

Nice visit.

Now I am really tired and am watching 20/20 about heaven.   I will like that.  So far it is really interesting.

Tomorrow is supposed to be cooler.   I hope less humid also.

A rather mixed day again.   It was over 100 degrees most of the day.

Fortunately, I was able to do my errands early.   I left shortly after Kim came to get Dick up and ready for the day.   First I drove to Sheboygan to Home Care Resouces to pick up (I thought) a new bucket for the commode that would fit better.    The one they said was oval was just as round as the one I have - they considered the seat itself, oval, but we have a better one.    I think I could make a fortune if I knew how to mold and make a PROPER commode shape.

I went from there to the bank and then to the grocery store and then home.   I stopped for a couple if things that were on sale today but not Tuesday when I shopped.   I also picked up a pound of ground sirloin so that Dick could have his raw beef and onion sandwiches.   He has been talking about them for a couple of weeks and I decided it was time.

I baked some lavender bread this afternoon.    It will keep beautifully in the fridge and we can have it and some scones that I am making tomorrow with our breakfasts when everybody is here.

I also rested and put my sewing stuff away.   I thought that the pool table ought to be a pool table while company was here in case anybody would want to play.

Last night, as I was closing things down to go to bed, I tripped over my own clumsy feet and scrapped my nose on the carpet.   I look like I got into a fight.   Dick said that I could say anything except that he had hit me    -   again.   He always adds that - again - after a good pause.  Anyway.   I am OK but a bit achy and embarrassed.    I figure another good night's sleep will help a lot and it is looking better than this morning.   I do usually heal pretty quick.

So - now I have confessed my clumsiness and we are starting to wind down for the night.

Tomorrow,  I hope to get to my desk and catch up on some of my emailing and CWI.  Bless you all.

Nora mentioned that Marcus was not feeling well.  Let's all pray for a quick baby recovery.

This has been a perfect Fourth of July.    I put the flag out when I woke up with Roxie.   (Actually, Roxie started pestering me at 5AM.  What a nasty cat.)  We must keep letting out servicemen and their families know that we are behind them in all that they do.

I did not put anything on my "list" of things to do.  So it was a win win day.

I dusted the main room downstairs and cooked up a batch of brats.

Bart and Barb are in Bullhead City visiting Bart's father and his aunts.   They are apparently having a good time.   I called to see where they are and was able to talk a bit to Dick, Bart's father.  He sounded good.  I hope that this will be a good visit and be healing to both of them.

I fell tonight.  I scraped my nose.  I am going to look like I have been through a battle for the next couple of day.  How embarrassing is that.

I called Jacquie in Bullhead city to see if Bart and Barb had arrived.  They were there safe and sound.   I talked for a bit to Dick,  Bart's father.  He sounded content.  I think that Bart's visit will be good for them both.

So that was today.

Talked to  Richard and Brenda.  Their house looks wonderful with it's new paint job.

It actually rained this morning.   Not a nice long soaking rain, which we really could use, but a real rain.  I am sure all the plants and trees appreciated it.   I know I did.  It kept things relatively cool until after 9AM.

I got up at about 7 this morning.    I always have to feed the cat at 6, or she beats me up.   But I came back to bed for a bit.    Then we were busy.    All the usual morning things and Tuesday is trash day.   As I had cleaned the garage, there was LOTS of trash coming out of our house.    Every time I went outside some neighbor or other was out, so I got some visiting in too.

I cleaned out the refrigerator today.   You can hardly tell, actually, but I did dump anything that was too out of date and a couple things that we will never never use.   And it is really clean.    I needed to know just exactly WAS there so I know that I am ready for the guests next week.

The only day I am committing the guest to is Monday.    We will go to see Mother in the late morning.   She is so delighted to be able to see the girls and meet their husbands and see this first of her great great grandchildren.   I figure we will leave here at about 10AM and come back by noon.   An hour to an hour and a half is long enough for Mom.   She does get tired but loves the company.   Richard and Brenda are planning on arriving here around noon.   I am preparing the "famous Kunert spinach/egg and cheese casserole" for our lunch.   Bobbie will be here with her Dad while we go to Mom's and can pop it into the oven.

Then Tuesday on, they can plan themselves.   I rather imagine that the girls might want to see their father, for example, or drive around Sheboygan a bit.   I have plenty of food and easy meals but if they have other plans that is just fine too.   I want them to have a good time and we want  to be able to spend some time with them and to cuddle that little baby Marcus.

Tomorrow is the 4th of July.   We are not doing anything special.   I will put the flag out in the morning and I am frying brats and making a potato salad for our lunch.

Hope you are all safe and celebrate the 4th too.

What a day.   It was supposed to be a bit cooler today but with the humidity, I could not see any difference at all.    It makes me dread tomorrow which is supposed to hit the high 90's.   Hopefully we will get a bit of rain tonight.    There is a slim chance and I saw that almost a whole herd of cows was laying down in the field this morning.    A very good sign.

I left for Bible Study at 9AM.  I stopped at Cappelle's, the farmers market on Eastern Avenue, on the way and purchased veggies for the week.   A real treat for Dick, Bobbie and I, Wisconsin sweet corn.   I had seen the sign last week and was looking for a window when I could get there.   This morning worked.   I also purchased cauliflower, some sweet peas, a couple of tomatoes and a portabella mushroom for a sandwich for me.

Bible study was well attended.   There were 8 of us.   I will not be able to go next week with the Smiths here.   We are discussing Psalm 51 and had lots of talk about guilt and forgiveness.   We are all good at guilt and we all try to be forgiving.

Then, over to Mom's house.   She is looking forward to seeing the girls and their husbands and that little Marcus guy next Monday.    We took care of her bills and set out her pills and had a good visit before I came back home.

We had that wonderful corn for our lunch with sliced tomato.  It was the first fresh corn for all of us.

Then Dick went down for a nap and Bobbie and I filtered the wine that I have almost ready to bottle.  In a couple of weeks we will bottle it and then I will be done with winemaking forever.   Bobbie has already taken over the "family business" and is doing an excellent job.

After Bobbie left, I rested for a bit.   Then I cleaned the kitchen,   Dick got up at about 3PM and we have been just kind of hanging around.   I had a couple of phone and computer projects that I did get done so feel that it has been a successful day.

I am very tired and may just lie down on the couch to rest until it is time to help Dick to bed.

Take care and be safe

I had a good day.   The garage is all ready for the new van.   I swept and vacuumed and moved things and broke down boxes and threw lots of things away.  Such a relief.   Now, on Tuesday, I will be hauling LOTS of stuff out to the curb.

That took up enough of the day that I don't feel that I should have been doing anything else.

Dick had a pretty good day.    His foot has been sore for the past couple of days in the afternoon and evenings.   I hate to see him so miserable and there is nothing we can do.   One would think that they could come up with Something, but apparently the brain's belief that there is still a foot, is stronger than drugs and/or massaging or rubbing.

Bart and Barb are on their way to the west coast.  They are going to spend time with Bart's Dad and his aunts in Bullhead City and then on to visit Bret and Bart's friend Scott.   Pray for a safe journey. And pray that Bart enjoys his visit with his Dad.   This would truly be a blessing.

Tomorrow will be a normal Monday and not as hot has it has been.   Bobbie will be here to stay with her Dad while I go to Bible Study and to visit Mother.   Then, after lunch, we are going to filter my last two batches of wine.   We intended to do this last week, but were missing a tube that was at Bobbie's house.   Wine is so slow and easy that waiting a week is probably a good thing.   We will filter it this week and then bottle it in a couple of weeks.

Then my wine making days will be over.   How poignant is that!!!!
