Rain and Thunder

Some friends and I have been saying that we really needed a thunderstorm to wake the trees and seeds and the worms up after this long cold winter.    Well, we got it today.   I was out quite a bit and was fortunate to be either IN the car or in a building when the rains and thunder became their strongest.

I had to be at Ebco at 10 to man the place until 1PM.  I arrived shortly before Ray Hagerman with his dog, Chance, and the key did and was by the door with a gentle mist coming down.   My friend, Paul Hanson, and one of his charges came before the door opened also.  There were two ladies, that came in a bit later, friends of Georgia Ressmeier and after a bit, Joseph and Felicia Reindl and their friend Paul came to see the exhibit.    So I had people to visit with, besides Ray and Chance.   I did have a bit of time to sit and do some writing also.   It was a pleasant morning.

I got home about 2 and had a lunch then working on the several projects that I seem to have going at once.

I went to the 4PM Mass.  It was a Palm Sunday mass on Saturday.   I remembered to bring a blessed palm for Rita and Tom along with their communion.

A quiet night, good, because I want to go to bed and read with the rain and thunder booming around the house.

So, until tomorrow.   When I am going to a play with Bobbie and Bill.

Friday Finally

What a day.   I saw Dr. Fehrman this morning.   He says my foot is healing very well.   In three months or so, the color should be normal, the last of the soreness will be gone and my other joints will settle down when I can stop favoring the foot.

Then I took the offer to purchase on Mom's house that Leon had faxed to me to Mother for her signature.   Dolores and Ken were with her so we all helped her review and sign it.   Then I took it to Warren, Mom's neighbor, who is the buyer.   Then home again.

I left again at 12:30PM to have lunch with my bank friends.   I spent the afternoon with phone calls and paying Mom's and my bills.  This evening I drove over to Rhine to visit my friends there and let them know that I will be back to shoot as soon as I have the new grips for the gun.  I will not shoot again until I know that I am safe.

I am home AGAIN and will stay here until morning.  Barbara called.   She got in touch with Jennifer Hiner, my nephew Todd's wife and found out that Dick is home but still having difficulty breathing.  Also Jacquie has been in emergency for hours .  She has a bladder infection and it looks like she might be admitted again.   Dick should not really be home alone in his condition.   He is being checked on as often as possible.   Bart will be there on Monday, and will be able to at least help his father with decisions.

Please pray.

Whew

This was supposed to be my only quiet day of the week.   It got a bit goofy.  Actually the morning was pretty quiet.

I got up at about 7:30AM and spent the morning doing some wash, working in the kitchen and on some desk projects.   I even got the grips for my gun ordered.   I think I told you that I have right handed grips and I am now shooting left handed.   I know, I know, but I have to use my left hand because my right arm is still sore, and I have found out that I am after all this time I am left eye dominant.   So after calling various stores that sell guns and people that my friends at Rhine told me to call (Just tell Todd that Bill Olson sent you.) and getting no where.   I called the Browning factory and they are sending me some universal grips that should work.    I'll probably have them within a week and will replace them with someone who knows what they are doing watching me.

I had lunch with Kate.  It was her birthday, we went to Antoinette's.   I had a Margareta Pizza.   I just love them.   We had a lot to celebrate, with her birthday and all.   And a lot to talk about.  I had stopped at Generations before meeting Kate to pick up a letter from my little pen pal.  They couldn't find it so I said I'd come back.    So I finished all my other errands, Walgreens, and Fleet Farm and stopped back again.    Still couldn't find it so I will stop again tomorrow.    But.  as I walked out of the building I saw a lady who had walked out with a walker, lying in the parking lot.   I started towards her and she said she was OK.   So I just opened the door and yelled in that help was needed and hurried out to her.   Poor thing, she fell trying to pick up papers that she dropped.   She didn't hurt herself but was unable to get up without help.  I put my jacket under her head so that she didn't have to put her head on the blacktop. Help came and we called 911.    She was a real kick.   She said that she has fallen at least 50 times and knew that she was OK.   Anyway after the EMTS came and they got her in her car, I went home.    Don't worry.   Someone was driving her home.

Home again, I worked on the book for a while.   Bart called, he is going to help his Dad and Aunt Jacquie on Sunday.

I called Richard and Brenda tonight.   Just wanted to hear their voices and find out what they did for Brenda's birthday.   They always do such fun things.    I feel good tonight.    Tomorrow will also be busy but I think under control.

Road race

That is what I feel that I have been on most of the day.  It all started with my hair cut appointment at 9AM.   Then I filled the tank in the car and got groceries.  I swung by the bank and cashed a check for Mom.   Go home about 10:30AM.   Roxie had her yearly physical today.   She has lost some weight.  Over two pounds.   She weighs 7lb 9oz.   A good weight for her.   She is eating good but we are careful with snacks.   Her thyroid is a bit out of norm so she now has meds for that.  Her liver function is a bit off but this medication may help that a bit too.   All things considered, she is just fine.   Dr. Connors just loves her.

I brought her home and headed to my appointment in Sheboygan with Dr. Leben.   We decided that since the pain in my arm seems to be somewhat tied to the weather, we will see if the exercising and the warm summer (if it comes) will help.   I am glad to do that as I hate to be depending on shots to make me pain free.

Home again, I cleaned the kitchen and prepared for this evening.   The Poets at Mead met for the second last gathering of the school year.   Then we will not meet during the summer months.   I hope Karl Elder does continue with the group next year.

I had a couple poems and will share one with you.

Angels were in the clouds this morning
They were cavorting
I know they were
Happiness and light were in them
I am sure that God likes cavorting
Don't you.

I got up before 7AM today.   I am actually trying to do that.   If I ever get to sleep easily, maybe bed wouldn't feel so darn good in the morning.   I went to Mass and then down in the church basement for the second last Lenton discussion group on Rediscovering Catholicism.  Always an interesting discussion, we missed two of our ladies who really come up with some interesting thoughts.

I went right from there to drop off some lenses and glasses that we found at Mom's at Advanced Eye Care for the Lions Club.  Then I picked up the Condo mail at the post office and came home.

Lots of paper work to do and a kitchen to clean today. I was really busy and then tonight went to St. Thomas Aquinas in Elkhart for the Sacrament of Penance.

Bart called just before I left.   He is going out to help his Dad on Sunday and staying for about a week.   He said Dick is still in the hospital so he was really a sick puppy.

Nothing else of any interest.   Can't believe that Easter is less than two weeks away.   And I will be going to Lincolnshire in three weeks for the CWI Gathering.  And in a month I will be in New York with Vikki and having visits with Sarah.

A very busy Monday

It was beautifully warm today, though.   My car registered 60 degrees outside which was so nice.   I opened up the house this afternoon to let the fresh air in.

Bible study was quite active.  There were 10 of us there which made for a lot of discussion.   We finally finished discussing St. Stephens talk to priests in the temple that made them so mad and read the story of his martyrdom.   He was stoned and the robes of the people who did the stoning were laid at the feet of Saul, later Saint Paul.   Stoning is such a barbaric way of executing someone.   It is hard to believe that in some parts of the world, people are still stoned.   We need more love and concern in our world today.   That is what I am trying to do this Lent instead of giving something up, I am trying to learn more.

I went to see Mom right after the study.   I brought her communion and am now bringing the host to the other Catholics in the nursing home.   There are eight or nine.   Some can only, like Rita, take a little piece of the host as they cannot swallow too well.

Mom was feeling really well today.   We had a nice visit and I had lunch with her too.   We had chicken nuggets, tater tots, peas and a pineapple fluff dessert.

This evening I went to practice for the spring concert at the Plymouth Arts Center in May.   It seems to be coming together but I will have to practice during the week.

A beautiful day

We got very close to 60 degrees today and the sun shone in a gorgeous blue sky.

Roxie and I had a very nice morning.   We cuddled and just generally hung out.    I got a lot of things ready for tomorrow.

After lunch, I went to the Ebco Artspace to see if I could connect with one of the people in charge.   Tim Ebenreiter said that he thought it would be Ok if we had our marathon reading of Ulysses at the center.   I met Peg Haubert who works there and she will get in touch with me as to what Paul Hanson and I have to do.   She is also VERY interested in Celtic Women.    She has been to Ireland and Scotland and the Isle of Man.  I will catch up with her this year.

As long as I was in Sheboygan, I drove to Meadow View for a little visit with Mom.    That is always a pleasure.  I brought the Falls and Plymouth Papers with me.   We had a great visit.  I found out a couple of things from her to add to Ancestry.  Like how long she taught school and at what school.

Tomorrow will be very busy.   Bible Study, Writers Club, Singing.   Why does everything have to be at once.
