The Badgers are impressive anyway. Every week, Dick says that they are playing a really tough teams, then they come back and win. Today it is a real nail biter. There is a little over a minute left, Purdue has the ball and the game is 20/17 Wisconsin. I'll just keep going here until the game is over now.

Tomorrow, I will be singing at the 10:30 Mass and then have to go to Rhine Plymouth to work. It is chilly this weekend and was rainy and windy today. The wind was strong enough that it was blowing the deck chairs accross the floor. It finally died down enough for me to go out and stack them.

We had a pot roast for dinner. Pick and Save had this deal. If you bouth the pot roast (which was all seasoned and everything) you got a package of Lipton Noodles, brown and serve rolls and a package of mixed vegetables. Wow such a deal and it was a great roast. It made the best gravy too.

Wow - the Purdue kicker, who is REALLY good, he has never missed a field goal before - just missed the field goal with 24 seconds to go and the Badgers kneeled on it and WON. Poor Purdue - it was their homecoming too. The Badgers actually have a chance for Rose Bowl again.

What a day. I have everything I need for Tisket a Tasket - a fundraiser for the Literacy Council. I am donating a basket with two books, the Maid Mother Crone wall hanging, tea, cookies and a cup. I need to deliver it next Friday.

I also am making headway on the stocking I am making for the Festival of Trees. I have used all different batiks and am machine appliqueing a candle on the front with a white fur collar. It will be OK.

"An East coast Ivy League atheist professor was teaching a university class and he told the class that there is no God. He said, "God, if you are real, then I want you to knock me off this platform. I will give you 15 minutes." Ten minutes passed with the professor all the while taunting God. "Here I am, God, I'm still waiting!" As the last minute approached he snugly smiled.

A young U.S. Marine, just released from active duty and newly registered in the class walked up to the professor and hit him full force on the chin. This sent him flying from his platform and crashing to the floor. The professor struggled up, badly shaken and yelled, "What is wrong with you? Why did you do that?" The Marine replied, "God was busy. He sent the Marines!"

I like that. God does use us you know.

Have a great Sunday.

Just came home from Rhine where I shot three targets for pistol league. I am doing much better than I did last spring. This week, the first target was low and two were outside of the scoring area. The second, they were better but I overadjusted an two were ABOVE the scoring area. The last one was GREAT. All ten shots scored and five were in the black. Hope I remember exactly what I did next week, when I shoot again.

I read something very interesting in a new book on Celtic spirituality that I bought recently called Stories of the Celtic Soul Friends by Edward C. Sellner. He says that a scripture scholar named Marcus Borg says that the word believe did not originally mean believing in a set of abstract documents or teachings put forth by a religious institution to maintain standards or require unquestioning loyalty. Rather its Greek and Latin roots mean "to give one's heart to." I like that and think I will use that meaning from now on.

Have a nice weekend.

Dick is mending. He still has the cough but seems to be loostening up. Now Jim is sick. I wonder if I have a chance.

It is turning a bit chilly out there. We are supposed to have rain the next two days and then drop to the low 30s during the evening. Chelsea and I will have to really move. I don't go far if it is actually raining but we do plunge along in the cold and even snow.

We had choir practice tonight. It is fun. Beth does a nice job and we are learning some new really nice music. We sing Sunday at 10:30AM and then I will have to go out to Rhine to work during the afternoon.

Bobbie and I decided that she will cook for Thanksgiving and I will host the Christmas Celebration. We trade and as we recall, this is the reverse of last year. I am thinking of fixing that Tomato Sausage Tart that I discovered. I should be able to fix a second small one with veggie crumbles for Dick and Brenda. I will investigate. That, some nice breadsticks and Caesar or Spinach Salad would be good.

Have a nice Friday. I will be really busy.

It has been a busy day. Took Mother to the Senior Meal site for her flu shot and then grocery shopping.

Tonight was Quilt Guild. We had a pot luck. I brought tortilla wraps with cheese, Budig meat, tomatoes and shredded lettuce. I used flavored tortillas spread with chive and onion cream cheese. They were all gone so I guess they were good. Of course pot lucks are usually good as people DO bring their best recipes.

Anyway, I am tired and Chelsea is hinting that she is tired. Dick and I have to make the bed too. He washed the sheets this afternoon.

Have a good Thursday.

Edward Kennedy said. "Frankly, I don't mid not being President. I just mid that someone else is."

Isn't that how we feel about many things.

We went to Dick's doctor this morning. Dick has an ear and sinus infection and is now taking Sudafed and an antibiotic to cure them. We are so glad to know what it is and that there is something that will provide relief.

Then we went grocery shopping. Later, I picked up some thread at Joann's Fabric then spent the evening sewing. I completed one of the squares of the Oak Leaf table runner and started a stocking for the Festival of Trees.

Dick also got his flu shot right away. I will take Mother to get hers at the Senior Center in Sheboygan Falls. Guess what, I am too young and with the shortage will just have to wash my hands and try to stay well on my own.

Have a nice Wednesday.

Dick is still not feeling well. We are going to see his doctor tomorrow.

Today, at the bible study, we started 1 & 2 Corinthians by reading the first half of the introduction in the study guide. This is giving us a nice insite into Paul, his times and his relationship with the Corinthians. Should be fun. We have a couple of new people. I hope they stay.

Later, I went to Writer's Club. Rosemary Eichenberger, a friend, joined me today. We went out for lunch first and had a nice visit. She was a good friend of my Uncle George. She and her husband, Warren, owned the Villager. Uncle George used to walk downtown every Wednesday night after he retired and he would make the rounds of some of the bars, including the Villager, visiting with friends and having a pint or two.

Rosemary, George, Ione (the cook at the Villager) and perhaps several other people would exchange poety and once they had a Limerick Contest. Rosemary kept some of the limericks (in their own writing) and is sharing them with me. I will have Jim scan them and then give the originals back to Rosemary. I can share the copies with those of us who remember Uncle George.

He was my bachelor uncle, Dad's younger brother. He was also my Godfather. When I was living in California, he always send a cheese box at Christmas time, one of the BIG ones with about 20 varieties of cheeses. My boys loved it and learned to like all kinds of cheeses because of that. His sister, Aunt Helen, said he spent lots of time with those cheese catalogs picking out the right assortments for each person he bought a gift for.

Any way, Rosemary apparantly is also an aspiring writer and has been looking for a group for encouragement and information. I hope she likes us and comes back.

We did a writing exercize that Jane Kocmond, Ann Pirrung and I learned while we were at a writing conference a few weeks ago. Here it is, in case you want to try it.

1. Write five nouns - things that you can touch, feel, smell or see.
I picked - kitty, tomato, kilt, lotion, pine tree

2. Write five abstract words. eg: wisdom, honesty
I picked - hope, dreams, faith, wisdom, piety

Then write a paragraph, sentence of poem using at least one word from each column.

This is what I wrote:

The kitty was perched on top of the curie cabinet. Being on the highest point in the room seems to be her goal in life. Se looks for all the world like a statue of some ancient god, representing wisdom and conveying knowledge of all things good.

Try it it is fun.

Dick is not feeling too well. He has a persistant cough. We will be calling the doctor tomorrow is he is not better. A few prayers will be appreciated.

What a beautiful day. The temperature was beautiful and the sun shone all day. Chelsea was a real pain this morning. She woke me up at 4:00AM the first time and I was so groggy that is was up and in my sweats before it dawned on me what the real time was. So, I let her out the back door to piddle then went back to bed. Then , she got really pushy at about 5:30AM so I gave up. It has been a long day - needless to say.

This morning I led our Kindercore choir in church before Mass in a rousing rendition of The Unicorn Song. They had done it for the Celtic Faire and wanted to do it again. We figured that after all it is about Noah, so we could stretch doing it as a prelude. The congregation loved it.

Have a nice week.
