I was able to stay home most of the day. My only excursion out was to the drug store.

Chelsea is responding to the muscle relaxant and the pain medication. She is a pretty subdued little girl but at least she has stopped pacing and is sleeping.

The air conditioner stopped working again this afternoon. Greg Steger came over and checked it out. There is a definite leak and it is more practical to replace it so we are going ahead with that and with a new furnace also. There is reason enough for both.

I spent some time weeding and planting and some time catching up on CWI correspondence. I have three days now to finish several projects and intend to do that and have some me time too.

Take care and have a wonderful holiday weekend.

God love you

What a day. I woke up at 3:30AM to hear Chelsea stumbling around. She was favoring her front legs and her little back was hunched up. We went outside and she seemed to settle a bit but by the time I got up she was worse and even yipping if I touched her near her head or neck, so I called the Vet and took her in at 9:30AM.

Dr. Crispin determined that she has somehow or other injured her neck and she gave us a prescription for a pain killer to give to her three times a day. So we came home and gave her the first dose. Then I planted the basil, tomatoes, lavender and thyme that I had purchased in the past couple of days and a couple of the marigolds into the hanging baskets. When I finished that it was time to go to have lunch with Bob Fleming and Sr. Marcia at the Exchange Bank. That was enjoyable. I did some shopping on the way home and got home at about 3PM. Chelsea was worse, so I called the Vet back and we decided to give her another dose of the pain killer.

That didn't help either. She has been pacing all day and seems unable to lie down. And she yips every so often just moving. So I called again and we are now using a muscle relaxant. Perhaps the combination will allow her to sleep and give things a chance to heal.

Dick and I changed our minds about going out to dinner tonight. We just couldn't see leaving her.

So. We will see what tomorrow brings.

God love you

Today was a very busy day. Wednesdays often are but I had an extra meeting today.

Started off grocery shopping at 8:30 or so. That went well. I got home at about 9:30 and got all the groceries put away. I was really busy all morning but can't really tell you what I did. I did make a fruit salad during the morning. I had purchased a quarter of watermelon and a pineapple to add to the strawberries and kiwi that I had cut up the day before. We had that for our supper with cottage cheese.

On these hot days, fruit salads get very popular in this house and it was up as high as 88 on my car thermometer today.

Shortly after lunch, I headed over to Mother's. I knew Jeff was there to have lunch with Mother and do do some yard work for her so I took the large leaf basil with me. One for Mom, one for Jeff and Kathy and one for Shane and Georgina.

Jeff and Kathy gave me three tomato plants and some fresh asparagus. Then, Mother went into the living room to rest while Jeff went to pick up the plants for her gardens and for the planters for the cemetery. I went with Jeff and picked up pretty much everything I need too. A regular parsley, a lavender, some marigolds and a thyme. Over the Memorial Day weekend, I want to plant things.

After that, I had the Amputee Support Group Meeting to go to. Wish I could get Dick to go too. We had a speaker from the Adult Protection Department of the Department of Aging and Disability talk to us. I did learn a lot. I learned that one can OPT OUT of credit card marketing. I may do that.

Home again, I took a nap before dinner because I had a meeting with Bob Harker of the Sheboygan History Museum and Beth and Katie Dipple of the SCHRC and one of Bob's staff, Nancy. We are helping plan the July Third Saturday which has the theme of "When Irish Eyes Were Smiling - A Story of Immigration." I have things to do and want to bring in the Celtic Women with their stories of immigration.

Thunder, lightening and rain started at about 7:30PM. It rained pretty much all the way home but has now stopped. One of my neighbors said that her rain gauge showed that we had and inch in that short period of time. Good, my planters really needed it and it saves me a day of hauling water out on the deck.

Tomorrow is much quieter. I am going to lunch with my friend Bob Fleming and Sr. Marcia to the Exchange Bank. Dick and I are going out for dinner in the evening so I don't even have to cook.

Nice as I have some computer work, work on the Museum event and a couple of people to contact.

Hope it is nice tomorrow and that you have a super day.

Please pray for our Michelle who is having health problems and Jim who loves her. They need all they can get.

Love

Mary

It was hot again today, perhaps not as hot as the past two days. The mosquitoes are out in full force. I seem to get a bite every time I go outside. Tomorrow morning, I want to water the berm and then plant a few things again. I hope to get down into the back also and seed around the rhubarb, lemon balm and spearmint. That will take a long sleeved shirt and lots of insect repellent.

I has my physical today. I am basically in good shape. He has ordered a couple of tests just to confirm a couple of things. He thinks that perhaps the tiredness could be partly because of one of the three medications that I take. I have to decide if I can do without it. It helps me sleep without stomach pains and I don't want stomach pain at night again. I will think about it for a day or so.

Dick got his blood coagulation level checked and he is finally right where he should be. Yippee, now we can wait a month before checking again.

Right after we came home I drove over to Herb's and Such to pick up some large leaf Basil from Lind Goodine. I got several plants because I want to give some away. I got home in time to fix a dinner of tilapia, potato salad and Brussels Sprouts.

Then I took a short nap. I had a haircut appointment at 2:30PM. Around 2PM, we noticed that the air conditioner was not working. As we had it serviced in early May, I called Steger and they sent a repairman out. I called just before I left for my cut and he got here about 15 minutes after I got home. Pretty good service. The coolant had apparently dropped. We assume that it should have been balanced when they serviced it. So he filled it and got the lines all cleared and it is working fine.

While he was here, I made a batch of lavender cookies. When I went to the herb talk a couple of weeks ago, a couple who attend the Amputee Support Group were there. When we discussed uses for cooking with lavender, I mentioned the cookies and the wife asked why I had never brought the dookies to a meeting. SO I decided that tomorrow would be a good time. I baked them downstairs - Thank heavens for my "summer kitchen". I pulled them out of the oven just in time to offer the repairman, Leif, one before he left.

We had Chef's Salad and garlic bread for our supper. Then I rested a bit as Dancing with the Stars, the finale is in tonight. It is a two hour starting at 8PM and I am usually in bed by 9, I needed an extra rest.

The show is great. They even brought back the eliminated dancers to dance for us again. This is the first year I remember them doing that.

Tomorrow is supposed to cool down a bit and maybe rain.

Take Care and God love you.

Another hot and muggy day. I watered the gardens out back and will try to get the weeds out from around the rhubarb and the lemon balm tomorrow or Wednesday.

This morning was Bible Study. We will not have it next week because it will be Memorial Day. We have finished chapter 12 of the Gospel of Mark and need to be looking ahead at what we want to do when we are done with that. This chapter ended with the story of the widow who put her two coins in the temple collection and Jesus said that she had given more than the rich who gave only of their excess. And there was a very strong reference from both the Old and the New Testaments that Jesus is both man, son of David, and God, Lord of David. Interesting.

Then I went to Mom's for a visit. She seems pretty good. She told me that se was glad that she had not gone to mass the day before. It was Matt Widder's first mass. He is a young man that came from our parish and was ordained last week. The service was, I understand beautiful, but lasted over an hour and a half and was very very crowded. She would never have made it through.

Home again, I got to stay home the rest of the day. I finished baking my sour dough bread. It is rather flat, as the timing that I thought was perfect was made imperfect be life and there was much too long a fermenting period. So. It tastes really good but did not rise like it usually does.

I spent a bit of time downstairs sewing. Trying to get a couple of things done before the Quilt Club meeting.

I watched Dancing with the Stars tonight and got my votes in. Tomorrow is the finale. It has been an exciting year. I really had trouble deciding tonight. All three of the finalists are good.

Tomorrow, I go to get my physical. And Dick will have his coagulation check. I am going but don't figure there is much reason. Nothing that is a problem with me can be fixed anyway.

Have a nice day tomorrow. It is supposed to still be hot but things are slowly going to cool down a bit.

God love you

Mary

Sunday, May 23, 2010

A very hot Sunday. It climbed all the way up to 86 on our thermometer. And it was humid. My friend Peg Payne called and commented that we always seem to go right from winter to the heat of summer.

I went out to Rhine Plymouth today. We had a Fun Day fundraiser at the club. I worked the gun room from 9 to 12. The morning was kind of quiet but we had signed up 9 squads for Lewis shoot which is a good beginning. I heard that we were the "only game in town" so I'll be that the afternoon was busier. Will find out soon, I am sure. I brought brats, German Potato salad and beans home for our lunch.

This evening I had a sandwich and a piece of strawberry tart. Dick had just the strawberry tort. He was still full from lunch. As he always eats a snack during the night, that will be just fine.

Yesterday turned out to be a continuation of birthday for me. I got welcome calls from Aunt Kathleen, Jacquie and Leslie. It was so good of them to remember and I was on the phone such a long time. Got all updated on things in Bullhead City and on Sara's wedding and the girls.

I really need to say that Bill actually made the shelf unit that Bobbie and he gave me. She did the finishing and painting. I have started putting things on it. It will take some trial and error to know what is most convenient but already I have ROOM on my desk and yet everything within reach.

So here we are at the end of the weekend. I took two naps today but guess my body wants more because I am STILL tired.

Tomorrow is only mildly busy. I just have bible study and my visit with Mother, both in the morning.

Take care and have a super week.

God love you

Mary
