This was a peaceful Saturday. I did get to sleep a little late. Dick wanted to get up at 8:00AM, but that was at least a couple of extra hours.
We had a good breakfast and I worked on getting the Celtic Women Sheboygan Branch newsletter out. I have to mail the hard copies on Monday but most people have email.
Irishfest is in two weeks. I am so excited. Just have a few details to work out as far as who is here with Dick when. I am always nervous to leave him but know that the help that comes in and Bobbie take good care of him. The thing is that he is kind of distressed that I am gone. It will be interesting when I go to IBAM for the weekend. By then I will be overdue for a real break as it is in October.
Heidi got here at 3:30PM so that I was able to go to Mass. I am so glad that we have that all set up. I really get replenished by that hour in church. I was able to gove out the wine today. I always love that. I feel so privileged.
We had soup and sandwich for supper and some ice cream. I make a cheesecake for dessert for tomorrow. Then I will have a piece to take to Mom on Monday.
Tomorrow will be even more sedate. I should not have to go anywhere at all.
It rained this afternoon, starting while I was in church. The birds are just beside themselves on the lawn in front of the condo. There was just enough to drive the worms up, I guess, and they were having a feast.
Happy Birthday again, Richard. Love you

A warm rainy day in the lovely city of Plymouth.
I went to yoga this morning. I met my friend, Felicia, at the Craverie for a cuppa and a croissant before the class. It was a nice class, very gentle. The Thursday morning is advertized as a "gentle class" and I needed gentle today.
Last night was OK - except. We got to bed and I turned off my reading light at about 8:45PM. Before 9PM, yes, you are reading correctly, Dick had to get up to go the the bathroom. I don't know which is worse, having to get up just when I am settled or when I have had an hour or so to rest. And I mean for both of us. Oh well, what is. Is. We were back in bed around 10PM. I got up at 6:30AM.
I took my shower and did what I had to for me. Heather from Embrace was here at 7:30 to help Dick get up and take care of him so I could meet Felicia at 8:15AM.
Dick and I have had the rest of the day at home.. I was exhausted when I got home, so took a nap late morning instead of after lunch.
Dick is trying to get me to tell him what time I want to go to bed. I told him that from now on I would rather that he just go when he is tired. He knows what time I WANT to be there, but we are dependent on his needs anyway. I just want him to be READY so that when we do settle in, we can stay there.
I baked some fresh blackberry scones today. I shared with our neighbor and have three for Jody for tomorrow. It is Jody's birthday.
I also make potato salad which made Dick a very happy camper.
Tomorrow should be fairly quiet. I won't have to go anywhere during the day. I may go down to Mother's in the evening if Nora and Leif are there for their last visit before heading back to Texas tomorrow.
So. May you sleep well and May I too.
I am minded of a song called John O Dreams which is a very soothing lullaby.
This is the third verse:

Both man and master in the night are one
All things are equal when the day is done
The prince and the ploughman, the slave the free man
All find their comfort in old John O'Dreams
All find their comfort in old John O'Dreams
Sleep tight

Well, we had a ride for the heck of it today. I thought that the proshesist appointment was today but it is tomorrow. Yikes. I don't know if I write it down wrong, or if Marty told me wrong, but it doesn't matter much now. We have filled out all the papers they need, so tomorrow we can concentrate on the prosthesis. Marty is in Oshkosh on Tuesdays so I am inclined to think it was me putting it on the wrong day. It was much easier getting Dick in and out of the van this time. Practice will make perfect.
The above paragraph is what I started yesterday. I realized after I was in bed and not ABOUT to get up again, that I had not finished and published the blog. I hope you all missed me.
Today was fun. When Heidi got here this morning, I left to go shopping at Gibbsville. I just wanted to stock up on some really good cheese factory cheeses. Boy are we set for a while. Nora and Leif, If you want to share some really good cheese canapes. Come on by. (Anybody else too.) We ALWAYS have canapes at 4PM.
On the way home I stopped at Cappelle's for fresh sweet corn. I also picked up some berries and some fresh beets and fresh farm eggs. Boy are we in the nation's breadbasket.
Now I will spend the next few days using these fruits of the field.
We had fresh sweet corn and sliced tomatoes for our supper. Boy is that good. I have several packages of corn preserved int he freezer for the winter.
This afternoon we went back to Fond du Lac to meet with Marty. The in and out of the van IS getting easier. The meeting went well. Marty took a cast of Dick's right stump. He is replacing the socket as he feels that the leg is now pretty much done shrinking. He is also going to have it go on the same as the left one, which seems much more secure and is easier to get on. It will take a month or so but it will be worth it.
So it has been a busy day. I have to call Mike at the wheelchair place. He put foodrests on the motorized chair which do keep his feet and knees where they should be but we discovered today that the stump rests will not fit on the chair now. As Rosanna Rosanna Dana used to say. "It's always something.'
A busy day coming to an end. I HOPE to get to bed early to read a bit before going to sleep.
Until tomorrow

I really love Mondays.
The night was not great, but I was able to go back to bed for an hour after feeding Roxie, which helped a bit. We were all up and ready when Bobbie got here at 9AM to stay with Dick.
I dropped off some coats and stuff at St Vinnies on my way to Blessed Trinity for Bible Study. There were 7 of us there today.
We have been discussing Psalm 69 which is a really a crabby Psalm with the writer feeling very sorry for himself and asking God to send lots of awful curses on his enemies. Lots of the questions were about how we feel about that. It isn't easy to wish well to the people who have offended us and yet it is difficult to understand people and peoples who carry offenses to the grave or from one generation to the next.
We see the latter in the relations between Israel and Palestine and in Ireland and in many nations around this world. Hate seems to come through the generations. I shared a song that Mary Black sings about hate and forgiveness. Here are the lyrics. I copied them off of the internet. There is no person listed as the author so I am assuming that it IS Mary Black. If you would like to hear it, get in touch with me.
A POISON TREE
I was angry with my friend
I told him so and my wrath did end
I was angry with my foe
told him not and my wrath did grow
and I watered it in fears
night and morning with my tears
and I sunned it with smiles
and with soft deceitful wiles
and it grew both day and night
till it bore an apple bright
and my foe beheld it shine
and he knew that it was mine
was a poison tree
beware of a Poison Tree
Poison Tree
growing inside of me
and into my garden stole
when the night had veiled the pole
in the morning glad I see
my foe outstretched
beneath that tree
was a Poison Tree
beware of a Poison Tree
Poison Tree
growing inside of me
Poison Tree
beware of a Poison Tree
Poison Tree
what happened to you
and me
After the study, I went to Mother's house. We got her bills all paid and her pills set up for the week and had a nice chance to visit again. She was a bit tired but is so enjoying the time with Leif and Nora. We shared our visits. Families need to treasure time together. Nora and I were remembering times with Auntie Marge and Uncle Elmer. Auntie Marge never had children and was such a fussy person that Nora and I were a bit stunned by the fact that we were supposed to be clean all the time and just observe and not get into things. However, I remember Aunt Helen telling me that when Auntie Marge would come home and hold the babies, both Dad's and Uncle Jack's and Uncle Jim's, she would look at them and cuddle them and Helen saw a tear in the corner of her eye. I wonder, but we will not know until we reach the gates of heaven, if she and Uncle Elmer were unable to conceive.
I was home by 11:45 and we had soup and grilled cheese sandwiches with pesto for lunch. (Dick did not have pesto.) Then a nap and I actually took time to read this afternoon. I have a book I HAVE to finish so that I can get it to a friend of mine for a book discussion in November. It is a rather long book so I want to give her some time.
We had leftovers for supper and now are starting to wind down for the evening. Roxie is quite content on my desk but will amble in to the bedroom when I go to bed. She does not stay the whole night but likes to be there when we settle in.
So rest easy tonight

Sundays are nice. We stayed in bed until after 9AM this morning. I am still tired. But at least it was a rather quiet day. I baked a new kind of scone, Basil/orange marmalade. They are really good. I am trying to fine recipes to use my beautiful fresh herbs in.
Leif and Nora stopped in for a visit this afternoon at about 2PM. They had been at Mother's and were giving her a chance to rest and us a chance for a super catch up visit. It was a lovely couple of hours. We shared a glass of wine and some of my herb recipe attempts and just talked. Dick loves having Deeleys come to visit and enjoys Nora and Leif a lot so it was a welcome Sunday afternoon.
We always have SO much to talk about. They are going up north to the Apostle Islands with Eileen and Fred tomorrow and will return on Thursday. Leif and Nora are planning on visiting special Wisconsin places every time they come back for a visit. Dick and I have turned them on the the International Crane Foundation in Baraboo.
We had leftovers for our supper and Kay is here to put Dick to bed for me. Tomorrow starts another week. It will be rather busy. On Tuesday, Dick and I will got to Fond du Lac to meet with the prosthesist. I hope we can resolve the problems with the right leg.
So. Time to wind down. Can you believe that July is almost over. August 1st will begin the Celtic season of LUGHNASADH,the harvest season. Hope the blessed rain we have received in the past week or so makes this a better season than it looked like.
