Boy, I thought yesterday was busy.
Today started off just as every other day. Silly Roxie, however tried to nag me into getting up at about 4AM. What a goofus. I got up shortly after 6AM showered, put some wash in and fed all the living things including me.
Jody came to clean at 8AM. Before she arrived, we got Dick all changed and ready for his appointment with Dr. Sharon at 9:45AM.
That went as well as can be expected. Dr. Sharon determined that Dick does not have pneumonia, despite the wheezing and coughing. But he does have an infection. So he is on antibiotics for 5 days. That meant that we had to call the anti-coagulation clinic to let them know that he is TAKING antibiotics so that they can determine if they should see him sooner than the month we have scheduled.
When we got home, Bobbie was already here. I was a winery day. We started a batch of her strawberry wine getting it all set up in the primary fermenter. I will stir it daily til she comes back next Friday, then we will rack it into the secondary fermenter (the gallon jug) to age. We also filtered the persimmon. It is much clearer now. Still a bit fuzzy but much better.
The three of us had Irish Bacon, tomato and lettuce sandwiches and pear cheesecake for our lunch . Bobbie and I will do more winery tasks next Friday. I am going to put a batch of Lemon Balm together. Then on the 25th, she and I are going to the Sheboygan County Quilt Guild Quilt Show. That is always a fun event.
At 2:45PM Dick saw Dr. Ziegler again for his eyes. Both are better. That blasted eyelash keeps coming back into the right eye. When we go in again in a month, if it is back again, Dr. Cheryl will see about getting an eye surgeon to remove it and perhaps that lump too. The left eye is healed but still a bit rough. At the next visit, his left eye should be settled and he can get a permanent prescription that should clear up the fuzziness he has now.
Tonight was the Sheboygan Branch of Celtic Women meeting. What a rush. One of our members, Dorothy Rose, who could not even be there, got the use of a room at her church the UCC on Hwy 67 for our meeting. It was great. Tommi O Hagan, our speaker, was such a super speaker. She herself just got back from Cornwall the day before yesterday. She told us of the history, the art, the inventors, the music, and the emigration reasons and and where they all settled. We all know about the Tin belt through southwestern Wisconsin, but the Cornish are everywhere. It was fascinating. There were eleven of our Sheboygan County members, Tommi and her husband Bob, two guests, including Kathy Deeley, my sister in law who is of Cornish descent and three members, Gail, Rosemary and Sheila from the Milwaukee area. So we were well represented. We ended with samples of pasties that Tommi brought with her and Figgy Hobbin which I brought. So we had a main dish and a dessert. I am delighted that it was such fun and so well received.
Our next meeting will be our second annual Samhain potluck in October.
Home again, I am enjoying a glass of wine and will then go to bed.
A couple of things I learned from Tommi this evening. Their name for the "little people" is Spriggans. They have corn in Cornwall. But it is all field corn. Also, all grains are referred to as corn and corn as we know it is maize. Also rutebaga are called swede.
So that is my day.
God love you all

Another mixed day. Started off OK. I and we spent the early morning, getting Dick cleaned up for his trip to the dentist. I started a load of wash and finished my Football pool picks. Then I realized that I had until Sunday. But it is done and I am just as glad to be free of it for the next couple of days.
Ed Schroeder's carpet cleaners (his kids) came just before 10AM. Was I ever glad because we had to leave at 10:30AM or so, just when they were scheduled, for the dentist. I just wanted to point out the trouble spots. I sure am glad to have the carpets cleaned. We had decided to wait until our Chelsea was gone. Sad, but now they should not get so filthy.
Dick's cleaning was scheduled for 11:00AM. Everything went well BUT he was so breathless when we got in there that she took his blood pressure and tit was way up there, SO Janelle suggested that we have it checked. We had been planning to call the doctor because of the breathlessness anyway. So we have an appointment with Dr. Sharon at 9:45AM tomorrow.
Home again, I fixed stir fry with chicken to go with the last of the rice from Tuesday.
Then I spent the afternoon making the Figgy Hobbin for tomorrow, and preparing and freezing a pie pumpkin and zucchini. Now that I have the freezer, I can get the produce prepared and frozen for the winter. I have one yellow squash and two more pumpkins. to go ---- so far.
Tomorrow will be even busier, ending with the Celtic Women meeting with Flora OHagan speaking.
Pray for us at Dick's doctor appointments.
God love you alll

Another busy Wednesday. Since it was shopping day, I picked up breakfast from Mc Donalds. It was a lot more fun when we could just go there but his brings us the memories and we do like their breakfast sandwiches.
Grocery shopping did go well. I was all our of soft drinks, and flavored water so everything was heavy. But it went well and I was done by 9:30AM. I was able to move some of the food down into the freezer that Jeff and Shane brought over from Mother's. Old it may be but it works just fine. Now I am able to preserve the excess veggies and fruits that are coming my way this season. I was running out of room.
This afternoon, I had some banking to do for CWI and then went on to Walmart to add minutes to my Tracfone. I was down to 6 minutes and 120 days. I now have over 900 minutes and over 6 months. I was thinking of a more involved phone but after asking Richard and Brenda, decided I am best to keep it simple and cheap.
We had tilapia, hash browns and fresh beets (a gift from Jeff) for lunch and leftovers for supper. Again I am exhausted.
I really miss my Chelsea today. Don't know why.
Take care of yourselves. Tomorrow, Dick has his dental visit. And we are getting the carpet cleaned.
God love you

Today was trash day. This week they came quite late to pick it up. I always try to get it out there by 8AM anyway.
We had a rather quiet morning. Then Dick had his appointment at the anti coagulation clinic. We were delighted. First: Sue Reiter, the first technician that Dick had when he got this condition, was in Plymouth training a gal. We were so glad to see her and she was SO glad to see Dick. He was her prize patient for two years before all the infections started settling in his legs. Second: His count was perfect - 260.
On the way home, we stopped and picked up Chinese food. I got beef and broccoli, fried rice and egg rolls. It was petty good too. I had tome to take a little nap before my 2PM dentist appointment.
Dr. Joe says my teeth are wonderful. By the way, please pray for my dental assistant's sister, who is dying of cancer.
While I was out, I voted and picked up and absentee ballot request for Dick. It is too late for this one, but if we do this, they will automatically mail a ballot to him unless he at some time does not turn one in.
Dick was napping when I got home, but got up pretty quickly. We had leftovers for supper. At 7:00PM I had my telephone conference with the Celtic Women executive board to decide what insurance we are getting. It went well. I still have one officer to run it by but three of us plus one of the board that works very closely with the treasurer were on and we came to an agreement.
Do you remember that when we first got Oscar and Roxie, Roxie kept taking little stuffed animals and little matchbox cars and dropping them all over the house? Last night I left the door to the downstairs rooms open. When I got up this morning, the little black mother doll that I found at Aunt Nonnie's house was lying in the hallway. She left that doll's baby sitting on the shelf and brought the mother upstairs.

Another busy day.
I went to bible study this morning. There were 6 of us today. Helen Maurer was back after her eye surgery. She will be in an out for the next month or two because of checkups but can see and is no longer in pain. Thank God. She has had a year or two of health problems but is so cheerful and trusting.
Mom was fine this morning. She looked really pretty with her new perm. We reviewed the mail she had received. I brought a couple of things home to work on and take back to her. She had a good time yesterday with visits from Jeff, Shane and Georgina and all three of Randy's girls. Jeff brought her food from the Celtic Mass and Faire, a chicken sandwich. She said it was really pretty tough, so Jeff cut it up for her and she is going to fix a little stew with it. I brought her the last of my stew and a cooked chicken breast too.
When I got home, Dick was sleeping so I started dinner and then went down and cleaned the freezer. Tomorrow morning I will plug it in - it will have had a good chance to dry out and by evening I should be able to move food into it.
I got a pretty good nap this afternoon.
Then this evening I went to the Rhine Plymouth Meeting. This was really a Rhine Marathon. I was there four days in a row. But now I will be free for at least three weeks.
Tomorrow is election day. I will be checking on getting Dick registered for the big one in November. This one kind of got away from me.
Til tomorrow God love you

Whew. I am exhausted and kind of mellow all at the same time.
I started out this morning getting Dick ready for the coming week. We are working on getting a rash under control.
I drove to Sheboygan Falls to attend the Celtic Mass at Blessed Trinity Parish. In the previous several years, I have been involved in the Mass. This year, Zach Holzer is the new choir director and he chose to go on his own. It was a nice mass, well directed but I noticed that there was no cover sheet with Celtic spirituality information and there was no bagpiper. I rather think that the member of the parish was not available and they did not look any further. So my worship folder was better. Hee Hee.
I left home at about 9AM and stopped to visit with Mother until it was time for the prelude at church. As it turned out, I had to leave directly after communion so that I could zip out into the grounds, greet my brother Randy and my sister in law Donna. Then I got a single brat to take with me to Rhine for my lunch and two scones for breakfast tomorrow. I stopped at the bandstand to say Hi to Dave and Linda from the band. Dave asked if I had been involved in the planning this year. Then one of his fellow members asked how I got out of volunteering. I had to tell him that the only way to get out of things in a parish is to move to another parish. Even then it took four years before I got out of working on this project. Dave mentioned that one other way was to die.
I went right from church to home to grab my phone then on to Rhine for two hours of work at the open shoot. We were not too busy. I shot one round. Not too well, but I hope I learned a bit.
I had but a beer and venison stew into the slow cooker this morning so at the Green Bay half time, Shane, Jeff and Georgie came and delivered the little freezer from Mom's house. We all watched the last half of the game and feasted on stew and sourdough bread and corn bread and cupcakes. It was such fun to have lots of people to feed and to enjoy the game with.
P. S. At THIS point, I am one point off of the lead. So my plan is working.
Now we are at the end of the day. It was a good day. We even got to talk to Leslie this afternoon. She called shortly after I got home from Rhine. She sounds good and Bill is taking excellent care of her. She goes back to the doctor tomorrow and we will be praying for good results and readings. But she DOES sound good. One day at a time to full health.
God love you all.

FLORIDA COURT SETS ATHEIST HOLY DAY
In Florida , an atheist created a case against the upcoming Easter and
Passover holy days. He hired an attorney to bring a discrimination case
against
Christians, Jews and observances of their holy days.
The argument was that it was unfair that atheists had no such recognized
days.
The case was brought before a judge. After listening to the passionate
presentation by the lawyer, the judge banged his gavel declaring, "Case
dismissed!"
The lawyer immediately stood objecting to the ruling saying, "Your honor,
how can you possibly dismiss this case? The Christians have Christmas,
Easter and others. The Jews have Passover, Yom Kippur and Hanukkah, yet
my client and all other atheists have no such holidays."
The judge leaned forward in his chair saying, "But you do. Your client,
counsel, is woefully ignorant."
The lawyer said, "Your Honor, we are unaware of any special observance
or holiday for atheists."
The judge said, "The calendar says April 1st is April Fools Day.
Psalm 14:1 states, 'The fool says in his heart, there is no God.'
Thus, it is the opinion of this court, that if your client says there is
no God, then he is a fool. Therefore, April 1st is his day. Court is
adjourned.

Today was a Rhine Plymouth Day. I got there at about 10AM in the rain. Our whole team was there for the Lewis Shoot. The club had not really advertised and then the rain was another deterrent. The first two hours our team just visited and puttered around. Jerry and I cleaned the front windows sometime during the day. Things picked up at after 1PM but we only had 25 participants ( including me.) I decided to shoot for practice. The first one, I only got 3. I was griping the stock, not following through AND Jerking. When I finished that round, the guys gave me hints. Bob told me to never look at the end of the barrel but to watch the bird. Jerry reminded me not to grip the stock and Bill Hamer told me to lean forward and explained (for the first time, that this involves sticking your butt out so you make a solid base with the ground.
The second round I did I got 11. So something helped. Now I have to assimilate these hints into my game.
I had expected to be home by 3PM but with all the latecomers, I did not get out of there until 3:30PM. Fortunately, Dick was not worried. He was just getting up from his nap when I got home. Actually, my phone call had wakened him but he does not move very fast.
Tomorrow is another busy day. I am excited. Jeff and Shane MAY be bringing over a small freezer for us and then might watch the second half of the Packer game with us. I promised them beer and stew. Anyone else want to come?
So. That was today. I am going to Mass tomorrow morning at Blessed Trinity for the Celtic Mass then making a bee line to Rhine to work for our Sunday Open Shoot.
Please pray for Matt Speith's son, Chris. He is the boy who had the heart transplant. He had an appendectomy this week. He is doing well but prayers are definitely in order.
God love you

Hello - It is after nine. I just got home from working my Friday at Rhine. Nancy was there when I arrived, so we shot pistol before things got really going. That was nice, we weren't rushed and both of us were reasonably happy with our results. Lots of room for improvement but it was OK. We signed up 11 teams and were really quite busy until after 8PM then everybody pretty much left and we were able to clean up and put things away.
This morning Jody came and did the cleaning. I had to make several calls and email several people to try to get questions answered and tie up loose ends. It was quite successful. I only have two loose ends to tie together. They will probably have to wait until Monday.
I spent a bit of time sewing downstairs too.
Tomorrow and Sunday I have to work at Rhine again. Then I will not have to be there for a month. Of course, I will go to shoot the pistol league. Tomorrow is a Lewis Shoot, which is one of our four fundraiser shoots. I may bring my shotgun and shoot it for fun.
So the weekend is busy and next week is too.
Please continue prayers for Chris, the young man who had the heart transplant. His new heart is doing just fine, but he had to be taken to Childrens again this week for an appendectomy. When it rains it pours.
God love you and keep you safe.

This was quite a day. I went for a walk at 9AM. See. I am really trying. I have made a promise that I will go three times a week, at least. It is harder without my furry companion to be with me. We got a sympathy card form Lakeshore Veterinary Clinic, the clinic that I took our girl to that Saturday. I don't know if I told you but they called on Tuesday to see how she was and I though that was kind. But the card was so sweet. They did provide her with over 8 hours of sleep during that painful time she lived through. I am so very glad that she is not in pain any more, even if I miss her so very much.
Bobbie came over this morning and we bottled her red currant wine and filtered her persimmon. The persimmon is still pretty cloudy so we will let it settle some more and then filter again. We had the salad that I had made for the party yesterday for our lunch. It really is good. I sent some home for Bobbie and Bill. What we have may be manageable but I still might share with our neighbor Dick or George.
Leslie emailed this afternoon. She is home. We will let her rest and then contact her tomorrow. Thank you for all your prayers, I am sure they helped with a quick release. She told me orignally that they were planning on her staying for 3 or 4 days. So an early release is a good sign.
Tomorrow League shooting will begin at Rhine Plymouth. I have to work Friday night also, actually the whole weekend. Not too much fun, I will see how much I am really needed for. But I will start shooting the pistol league anyway. I will not be in the trap league, but I think I will bring my gun sometimes and shoot with Bill Olsen and his team.
What a beautiful day it was today. Hope it continues.
God love you

A very busy Wednesday. I had expected Roxie to wake me at 6AM but the silly girl let me sleep so I got an extra half and hour.
I picked up Egg Mc Muffins from Mc Donalds for our breakfast. It is kind of a throwback to when we would shop together. Then we always went out for breakfast. Mc Donald's was ONE of the places we used to go. I wish I could get Dick to go shopping with me again.
Shopping went pretty well and I filled the gas tank too. I always like to cluster my errands. When I got home I immediately put the groceries away and made the Summer Salad that I intended to take to my classmate, Kenny Richter's home for our gathering. The Class of 58 meets for lunch several times a year and Kenny and his wife Barb opened up their home on Horseshoe Lake for this one, As it turned out, it was too cold to sit outside, or swim , or boat, but we didn't much care. We all had a lot to visit about and ate like pigs.
Even IF I FORGOT TO PUT MY SALAD IN THE COOLER.
Guess what we will be eating the next couple of days and I have plenty to share. Just let me know. It is a wonderful salad. Pasta, tuna, spinach, tomatoes, pine nuts and olive oil. Spiced, of course.
As I said the gathering was so nice. There were about 10 of us plush spouses, so we all got to really catch up with each other. I was able to share with my friend Joanne, who has cilieac about a cake that is so yummy and she gave me the name of a place that has gluten free bread that is good. She is a dear. Her aunt is Dorothy Blust. For a bit I had that Dorothy confused with another Dorothy Blust. Her aunt is still living and is close to Mother's age. She is doing quite well and still drives.
The other Dorothy Blust was a bridge partner of Mother's all those years until she passed on. She used to scare the dickens out of Eileen. She could not have children and wanted Eileen and whenever they had bridge at our house, she would tell Eileen that she was hers. She was a little gruff and probably tried to hug her too. Poor Eileen, still remembers.
Then, Dick and I went to Sweet Basil for our supper. It is nice to go out and nice to go somewhere that one is recognized. They always get "our" table read when they see us coming and even remember what we like best and what we drink. How is that for service.
Before we left to go out, we called Willis Knightson Hospital in Bossier City to check on Leslie. She sounded REALLY good. That made us feel better. It looks like she will be going home tomorrow. Not bad though she will need lots of followup as the defrib is still there.
Keep praying.
God love you

This has been a mixed day. Started off OK. I fed Roxie at 6AM and went back to bed for a half an hour or so. That is really a luxury. After I got up, showered and did the usual morning things, I went for a nice walk at about 8:30AM or so. It was really windy but the walk felt good. I have decided to make myself walk at least three days a week. Chelsea would expect at LEAST that much of me. After all, she trained me.
Dick had an appointment with Dr. Cheryl Ziegler this afternoon. His right eye is looking really good. The left is still a bit goofy, but the infection is gone. We are letting it settle for 10 days, then will check it again.
I brought Dick home and went directly to the Kettle Country Quilters meeting. I needed to pick up the next pattern for the block of the month that we are doing as a club. I found out that we do a lap robe 36" X 36" for a Christmas project. So I must get working on that.
Then, when I got home, there was a call from Louisiana. We need everybody to be praying. Bill took our Leslie to the hospital this morning because she was having shortness of breath and other symptoms. She was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and high blood pressure. They have ruled out a heart attack and are doing more tests before they determine her care. She is an exhausted lady and resting so we just need to pray. I will update you as I hear from Bill.
So that is the day, highs and lows.
God love you and talke care of yourself.

Happy Sunday. All you who work still have one more day off before heading back to the grind. Even Dick and I have a quiet day ahead of us. I was going to fry out, but my friend, Kate, gave me some brats, so I see no sense in cooking anything else tomorrow.
I forgot to tell you about a wonderful thing that happened to me yesterday. I have decided to walk at least three times a week. I am planning on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Yesterday, I started out at about 8AM and looked up to behold three Sandhill Cranes flying one behind the other moving North to South. I love the cranes, as you know, and was so thrilled to see them. I have heard them off and on since spring but only saw one of them before this sighting. They are such elegant birds and so beautiful and graceful. This was healing for me.
Today was quiet. I spent a lot of time on Ancestry and composing a letter to my cousin David, who is really an expert genealogist. He would like us to colaborate on a book of the Bowser, Clifford etc genealogy and I would really like to do that but am concerned as to the time commitment. I am trying to convey that to him.
I also spent some time downstairs working on some of my quilting projects. I have this problem. I want to do too many things and I want to do them all at once. It is hard for me to say no and it is hard for me to just sit and do nothing.
We had my friend Kate's fresh tomato and meat sauce with rice for lunch. It was quite good and then we ate leftovers for dinner.
We are now calling Roxie the Prima Donna as she is the only non human creature left and seems to be a bit concerned that Chelsea is gone. She does not like change as much as she found Chelsea irritating.
She is catching on that we are willing to spend almost as much time as she demands on her,. This could get to be a problem. Of course, it would be one of our own making.
I got a call from Mom this morning at about 8AM. Her caregiver was not there. They are supposed to be at her home to get her up at 7:30AM. I called the company and she got someone out there within a half an hour. The company owner admitted that it was her error. I called Mom as soon as I knew that someone was on the way and as she was back in bed, did not go out myself. This is the second time that this has happened. We will have to be aware of the situation and alert if it happens again. The care has been excellent except for the two times that they did not show.
Have a great Labor Day.
Love and God love you

A totally lovely Saturday. I fed Roxie at 6AM and went back to bed until 7AM. How is that for nice? I hope to accomplish the same tomorrow.
I kept myself busy all day. I dried some herbs, made lunch, did some cutting out and arranging of quilting projects and caught up on the emails.
I went to mass at 4PM. That was a nice experience. I was a eucharistic minister. That always makes me feel like a more involved part of the service.
I talked to Bart and Barb and Bret and Jim and Michelle today, so it was a full day. Everybody is doing pretty well. This is my Bret's birthday. He is 43 today. I still remember that trip to the hospital. That year, September 4th was Labor Day. Bret's father was at a jeep club event. We had decided that since it did not seem probable that Bret would be born that weekend, he should go to help with the event.
But Bret decided to come anyway, so Aunt Ruth, Cousin Linda and Jacquie took me to the hospital. When I got up to the labor rooms, there were three or four other women there and I remember that the nurse said. "Just because it is Labor Day, did not mean that you all had to come in at the same time."
So I have two days that I have no real commitments. Monday, I will go and spend some time with Mother. The rest, I kind of want to just do stuff for me. We'll see how it goes.
God love you

It spotted a bit of rain today. Last night there were thunderstorms. So everything is nicely watered.
Jody came and cleaned today. I washed sheets this morning and made a pumpkin pie for dessert tonight. The only time I left the neighborhood was to drive over to Capelle's to buy corn for our dinner.
I finished two projects for the Quilt Club, the block of the month and putting the velcro on the two walker bags that I made.
Bobbie and Bill got here about 4PM and we had a lovely evening. The corn was delicious. The tomatoes were from MY plants and sweet as can be. I made the pie with on of the pie pumpkins I bought. It too was good. Bobbie and I decided that she did Christmas last year, so she will do Thanksgiving. I will make another pumpkin pie and she will make a hickory nut pie.
Kind of sad to end such a nice day but there you go and I am tired.
So, I am listening to a Statler Brothers Special on TV and then will go to bed.
Have a great Labor Day weekend.
God love you

It was a mostly stay at home day. I had to go out this morning to pick up a couple of greeting cards but spent the rest of the morning baking. I seem to be doing a lot of that. I think I am doing my "when I am nervous, upset of distressed, I cook" thing. Hope I don't run out of room before I fun out of sadness for my little Chelsea.
I went for a walk this morning. I will have to get myself onto a routine of that. Without my girl to urge me on, it will be easy to get a bit lazy. I figure if I take a nice long walk at least three times a week, I will be OK. It was a really nice morning for a walk.
My baking today, consisted of sourdough bread and zucchini bread. We had chicken, rice and carrots for our dinner.
This afternoon, I cleaned my desk, paid a couple of bills and stored all my baking. We just had soup and sandwich for supper.
There is a loud thunderstorm going over right now. A lot of lightening and rain.
I didn't tell you but we had a murder in Sheboygan County. It was just east of Plymouth at Racer's Hall which at one time was Vic's Hall. Randy and Donna had their wedding reception there. A man shot and killed another man four times with a pistol. Apparently there was an disagreement of some kind, but there was no excuse for the shooting. We are not in the old west and the victim was not himself armed. Imagine my shock when they finally announced the gunman. I purchased my 12 Gauge Bacall shotgun from him and he used to be a member of Rhine Plymouth. He was always pleasant to me but was not an agreeable person. This, however, was way over the top.
Now that is news.
Hope all is well with all of you. Can't believe tomorrow is Friday already. And Saturday will be Bret's birthday.
God love you all

This week feels totally foreign. The house has an empty feeling, yet I do feel Chelsea around too. Just in the familiarity of the surroundings, it is hard not just assume she is in another room. I hope she was not afraid on her way to heaven. I couldn't go that far with her.
I am keeping myself busy. I did my grocery shopping this morning, then drove to Mom's to bring her prescription and a little present of Chocolate Raspberry wine. I thought she would like that. Tomorrow would be their anniversary. I usually bring her flowers but she said the wine was just fine and we talked about her and Dad's wedding day. She loves to share that day.
I go home in time to fix lunch but Dick was still napping so I ate some of my leftovers from yesterday. Dick just wanted toast when he woke up. We had planned on going out for dinner tonight, but Dick was not feeling so very good today, so we postponed out date until tomorrow.
So, I spent the afternoon preserving zucchini and tomatoes and cutting up a cantaloupe for snacking on. The cantaloupe are very sweet this year at this time and we are taking advantage.
Tomorrow is mostly a stay at home day. I hope to be able to rest. I will be baking a batch of sourdough bread though. I have been making the starter the past two days.
Take care of you.
God love you

This has been a day of adjustment. I got up at about 6AM to feed Roxie, who was insisting that it was time to eat. However, I was able to go back to bed for an hour.
I spent the day getting sour dough ready, baking a cake and putting chicken in the crockpot before I joint Janet and Toni at Antoinette's for lunch and a CWI discussion.
I fixed Kraft Mac and Cheese with hot dogs for Dick for lunch.
We had crock pot chicken with rice and kohlrabi for our supper.
Tomorrow will be easier. The family are sending sympathy cards and messages. Dick and Brenda even sent flowers. The flowers will keep our little fuzzy friend alive a bit longer. I heard her walking around the house last night.
Here is the poem that Jimmy Stewart wrote:
"Beau"
by Jimmy Stewart
He never came to me when I would call
Unless I had a tennis ball,
Or he felt like it,
But mostly he didn't come at all.
When he was young
He never learned to heel
Or sit or stay,
He did things his way.
Discipline was not his bag
But when you were with him things sure didn't drag.
He'd dig up a rosebush just to spite me,
And when I'd grab him, he'd turn and bite me.
He bit lots of folks from day to day,
The delivery boy was his favorite prey.
The gas man wouldn't read our meter,
He said we owned a real man-eater.
He set the house on fire
But the story's long to tell.
Suffice it to say that he survived
And the house survived as well.
On the evening walks, and Gloria took him,
He was always first out the door.
The Old One and I brought up the rear
Because our bones were sore.
He would charge up the street with Mom hanging on,
What a beautiful pair they were!
And if it was still light and the tourists were out,
They created a bit of a stir.
But every once in a while, he would stop in his tracks
And with a frown on his face look around.
It was just to make sure that the Old One was there
And would follow him where he was bound.
We are early-to-bedders at our house--
I guess I'm the first to retire.
And as I'd leave the room he'd look at me
And get up from his place by the fire.
He knew where the tennis balls were upstairs,
And I'd give him one for a while.
He would push it under the bed with his nose
And I'd fish it out with a smile.
And before very long
He'd tire of the ball
And be asleep in his corner
In no time at all.
And there were nights when I'd feel him
Climb upon our bed
And lie between us,
And I'd pat his head.
And there were nights when I'd feel this /stare
/And I'd wake up and he'd be sitting there
And I reach out my hand and stroke his hair.
And sometimes I'd feel him sigh
and I think I know the reason why.
He would wake up at night
And he would have this /fear
/Of the dark, of life, of lots of things,
And he'd be glad to have me near.
And now he's dead.
And there are nights when I think I feel him
Climb upon our bed and lie between us,
And I pat his head.
And there are nights when I think
I feel that stare
And I reach out my hand to stroke his hair,
But he's not there.
Oh, how I wish that wasn't so,
I'll always love a dog named Beau.

This has been a very difficult day. I suppose you know what is coming. I wish I could say that you are wrong but it is not to be.
This morning we woke up to find that Chelsea was still in a great deal of distress. I gave her some more pain killers but there was no relief. I called Kettle Moraine at about 6:30AM to tell them the circumstances and our decision. They had received the report from Lakeshore so were up to date on her condition. I told them that Dick and I had agreed that if there was no improvement by this morning we were not going to make her hang in there for us.
I was able to get an appointment for 8:30AM with a Dr. Crispin. She was kind and understanding. I carried Chelsea in to the room and held her until it was all over. Her little head was wet with my tears. It is so hard to say goodbye but she was so trusting and after it was over, I was glad to see her peaceful again. That poor little hunched up pain filled body was more than I could take. I am feeling very disconnected but know that after I can get some sleep and my thoughts and feelings gathered up, I will be fine. Dick will be too. I am already finding that I kind of look for her. When you make arrangements for this they ask three questions. 1. Do you want to take the body with you? No. 2. Do you want a private cremation where you get the ashes? No. 3. Do you want a group cremation? Yes.
I told Sue at the clinic that I don't need her ashes, she will always be in my heart. I know she will be up there at the gates of heaven along with Zero, Chelsea, Oscar, Chip, Clancy, Sam, Sam, (yes there were two), Tara and even Taco and Belle. What a day that will be.
But today, I am sad. Please pray for me.
I took Dick to the eye doctor today. His right eye is 99 % improved. The left eye is is bit infected now, Dr. Cheryl thinks it might have spread. We will doctor this week and recheck next Tuesday.
Pray for both of us.
God love you
Mary

At least I got to be home all day.
Chelsea slept until after 9PM last night. By morning she was pacing again. I gave her the pills but they were not much good, at least this afternoon. I think 8 hours is too long between - we do not keep ahead of her discomfort. She was pacing and panting and arching her little back and limping so finally after 4 hours I redosed her and then I sat on the floor holding her until she finally went to sleep. She has now been out for almost three hours. I am afraid that things do not look good for our sweet puppy. I am carrying her outside to do her business these days because walking is very uncomfortable for her.
Tomorrow will be very traumatic. I have to go to Mother's for several reasons, but I can call Kettle Moraine any time after 6PM. We are also taking Dick to the Eye doctor for his new left lens and to check the status of his right eye.
Pray for us. We will need a LOT tomorrow.
God love you all

Chelsea slept until after 9PM last night. By morning she was pacing again. I gave her the pills but they were not much good, at least this afternoon. I think 8 hours is too long between - we do not keep ahead of her discomfort.
