Today was as cool as it is going to be for the next week, at least.    And it was HOT and MUGGY.   Not looking forward to triple digits, they say 105.     OUCH.

I was quite busy today.     I had to go to the bank and the grocery store and to my wine store.    Then I wrote a newsletter for my Lawton Celtic Group because we are going to meet on July 17th after a four month hiatus.     Sure will be glad to see those that come.    We are going to a hotel and will work on social distancing and wearing masks.  But I am sick of just existing.

Tomorrow I have a doctor appointment with Dr. Simon, my arthritis specialist.    Then in the afternoon, Shields Plumbing will come to see why water is running down my garage.    EEEWWW

What a day.     Kerry came to clean the house this morning and Dan and Han came to mow my lawn this afternoon.
Then at about 4PM American Shield sent an Air conditioning person to check my system as we thought that the air conditioner was leaking into the garage.    He told me that the drain from the house to the main is clogged and that I need a plumber.     The company offered to change the order to American Shield from Air to Plumbing.     So I let them.

I will cope with it tomorrow if I don't hear anything:)    Sufficient unto the day.

Today is the coolest day projected for a week.     Tomorrow is not too bad , then it is going to jump into the mid 100s.   Yikes.     So blessed to have an air conditioned home.

The weather men said that it was cooler today.    I couldn't tell.    I still got all sweaty when I took my Vita for her walks.    I still do my walks because I know it is good for me and for my Vita girl.

Bart came over to look at a problem I have this afternoon and then we visited so I was not home alone all day.

Tomorrow I have my house cleaner, my lawn mower and someone to look at my air conditioner all coming the same day.     Don't know how I got so lucky.

The 4th of July was really nice for me.   Adam and Alexia  invited me to their home for a 4th of July celebration.   I decided to go hoping that they invited people that were likely to be SAFE,    I think they were.    Family and very close friends of Adam and Lexie.    We had hot dogs for our meal, starting at 7:30 and fireworks to die for until at least 9:30PM        What a wonderful way to celebrate our countries Independence Day.

I am feeling pretty good.   I am getting things done around the house.   Have my planters cleared and planted (there are even very small tomatoes on some of my tomato plants) and cleaning my garage which is a mess and has leaking from the air conditioner.   I even called American Shield to get the air conditioner checked.

My Vita was terrified of the fireworks.     Then I left her.   Am I  a bad MaMa or what?   When I got home last night she refused to go outside to go to the bathroom.    My neighbors were coming home at about the same time I did and were laughing their heads off as I tried to get her to walk.    She just dragged me back to the house.     So,  can you believe, that girl went almost 18 hours without urinating because she was afraid to go outside and "good girls don't potty in the house."

Finally I took her out at 8ish in the morning and literally dragged her halfway down the block and she finally realized that there was no more fireworks.    Poor baby.    Well she has a year before she has to do this again.

Another day safe from the ravages of the  COVID 19.    In other words I was home all day.    I did talk to one of my neighbors who wanted to use my driveway as he was getting a delivery.   I assured him I was not going anywhere today.

Finished cleaning my sunroom today.   I also did some reading and some wash.

So I kept myself from going totally stir crazy:)

Hope you are all safe and ready for the 4th.   I AM going with Bart and Barb over to my grandson, Adam's, house tomorrow evening for a late hot dog supper and I assume fireworks.    I WILL wear my mask.   The one Barbara gave me, Of Course.

Home all day.    It was stiffling hot.   Glad I could pace my outside stuff.

I did go out early and finished clearing my "flower bed" which is now going to be a sculpture bed.    I got all the junk out of it this morning and will just keep working at it every other day or so to see that I have gotten rid of the roots and such.

I also worked on cleaning my sunroom windows.   Only one more window left - then I will finish sweeping keeping things up.

It was SO hot and my Vita seems to think she has to go for a walk to do her business.    I know.    It is my fault.   I know, if I waited long enough she would HAVE to go in the back yard.    But I am a softy.   Probably the walking is good for me anyway.

Have a great evening

Can't believe that it is July already.   I worked a bit in the yard early before the heat and humidity set in.

If I do that tomorrow, my beds will be in pretty good shape.

It got up to 96 today.   They say the humidity brings the feel heat as 108 and I believe it.

Tomorrow the same.
I am blessed that I can stay home in my air conditioned home.

I went grocery shopping this morning  and got a lot of things done around the house.    It is so good to actually be eager to GET things done as I spent so much time after Chemo feeling like a slug.

I took Miss Vita for three walks.   After the last one which was short, I told her she would just have to go into the backyard:)    It is so hot and muggy.

Watered all my outdoor plants anyway.    My tomato plants have yellow flowers on them.   Wouldn't it be funny if at 80 years old, I finally got a decent crop of tomatoes?

Supposed to be hotter tomorrow.    I can stay home and cool.

Hope you can too if you are faced with this.

Another hot day, but the next two days are projected to be even hotter.    I will have to take my Vita for her long walk in the morning and short walk her the rest of the day.    I know, I know, she has a perfectly good backyard which she loves and explores and pees in but she does not like to do her serious business in it.     A good doggie goes for a walk with her Mama and poops.    Then Mama picks it up in a bag and throws it in the trash.     Nicky was that way and I don't know how, but I hage this little Vita doing the same thing.     I know it is my fault but such is life.

Kept myself busy today.    I saw Dr. Toy this morning and he says that I am doing well.    Still on a two week recall, but he is pleased with what is happening.   He calls me his Wild Irish Rose.

Got a call from Marti, one of my fellow writers.    Karlos, her husband and a fellow writer, is trying to find a spot for us to gather again.    There are only six of us, so it is at least feasible.   Hopefully we will start again next Thursday.     I need people even six feet apart and with masks on!!!!

Marti is now brave enough to go to church next Saturday.    That would prepare her for the Writer's Club.

I think we will be several years before this is all resolved, but we need to get on with life with protections and consideration for each other.

I was home alone all day today.     Got a lot of things finished up, like gathering the garden waste into a trash bag for the trash tomorrow, watering ALL my plants and emailing my Celtic friends to kind of feel them out as to whether we should meet this month.    Told them they should think about it and I will contact them about a week before we usually meet.   I'm not even sure how I will feel at that time:)  But we don't want to lose touch.

Got calls from two of my classmates.   Classmates that go back to grade school.    Nancy and Barbara,  I sure enjoyed that.   Voices of special people in my house always makes me feel good and casts such light on the day.

This week is actually very quiet for me.    The only appointment I have is Dr. Toy on Monday to get my body adjusted:)  Can't believe that the 4th of July is Saturday..      The year is half over.

My "handyman" as he and I have decided to call him, Shawn came today and did several of the things that need to be done for maintenance.    He brought his son with him and his son worked so hard.     I told Shawn I hoped he was paying his son and he and the boy both assured me he was.

I went to mass tonight.    So glad to be able to do that now.   I still am amazed at the weeks we couldn't because of the virus.    Still have to be very careful.     Not all people are.    The church is carefully marked off for singles, couples and families and the ushers make sure people follow the rules.

I did a bit of shopping today so tomorrow I will be home all day.     Have a couple of easy projects to keep me occupied.    I don't like TOO much but do like to accomplish something every day.

Had a dentist appointment for a cleaning this morning at 8:00AM.   Don't know what I was thinking:)   Actually we rescheduled and this was the first date available and I wasn't thinking.
Everything went well.   I don't have to go back until November.    My teeth are doing probably better than I am.   Ha   Ha

Stopped and picked up a Mc Donald's Bacon, Egg and Cheese Biscuit , which I really DO love for my breakfast.

Had a hair cut appointment for 1:00PM.   Kandi had to close for a couple of months but I am glad she was open.   I feel more groomed and had a visit with a real live person that I DO share some things with (something about hairdressers).   I feel great.

When I was on my way home. Bart called.   He was on the way over with soup that Barb made for my supper.     Am I blessed, or what.    Bart and I had a nice visit.      When he left, I took Vita out and then fed her so I just need dinner and a time to wind down.

I talked to Richard and Brenda this evening.   Was concerned because of the marches in Madison.    They are just fine, as I figured they would be but I needed to check in:)

Basically home all day.

My dear Vita dog took me for three nice walks today.     It is not TOO hot but I was a bit sweaty mid afternoon.    She was not too inclined to lead me further either.      We do love our walks.   By the time summer is over, we will be walking up to the park which will push me a bit further.   This is my exercise and the reason I say I get a dog:)   I remember that the gym teacher at Sheboygan Falls High School used to tell Mother that Mary and Nora try hard but they just are not very good at gym.   Perhaps Nora has changed?    I will have to ask her.

I have been thinking of my Mother these days with all the things that are happening in this world.    The pandemic would have been shocking but she would have coped.    All the racial anger would have been against her feelings on life.   She loved all and I believe passed that on to us.   I wish I had her way of phrasing things.

My uneventful Sunday got pretty full after all.

I contacted one of my Wisconsin Celtic Friends, Joan,  to get a number for another Celtic Friend, Maureen.   Joan wasn't home, so I called another Wisconsin Celtic Friend. Janet.    We had a nice long catch up conversation and I hung up forgetting to ask for the number.      Then     I FOUND Maureen's number.    Just about then Joan called me back so we had a nice long catch up conversation.     I just feel so good.

I DID call Maureen and she and I took care of what I wanted to ask her and WE caught up on each other and she asked me to think about presenting a talk on the trips I took alone to Wales, Cornwall and the Isle of Man.

So I spent the afternoon finding the pictures.    Now I have to figure out which set belongs to which place:) :)    They have such a similar terrain.    It will be fun.

Usually Oklahoma gets about 4 inches of rain in June.    BUT did it all have to come tooncet.    (Sound it out.)   It means at once.

That is what happened.   My poor Vita is traumatized by all the rain and thunder.   Fortunately it started at about noon so she had her morning potty break before things got bad.   She is really irritated with me.  I know she thinks I control these things.

I went to the funeral of a dear friend, Curtis Dyer, today.   It was a lovely mass and remembrance.  My dear friend, Robbi, his wife will be so lonely.    I know how that is and she had no children to lift her up, so I must be sure to be in touch with her regularly for the next weeks.    We have some mutual friends who all love our Robbi so this will not be difficult.    Please pray for her and her Curtis.

Still staying safe, with masks and as much distancing as one can do at a funeral.

I was home most of the day, did talk to a friend and my Bart always calls me.    I had to run to Walgreens for a couple of things.   You know that my Vita resents it when I leave her alone.     She is a good little doggie companion.

I took care of a couple of projects today with the Quilt Guild and talked to a couple of people I had missed.

I also read a few chapters of the book I am into – Irish Whiskey by Greeley. It is good, but I think I liked his earlier ones better. If you read them, what do you think?

Tomorrow another quiet day, though I may have to run an errand or two.

It was a nice day.      I had an appointment with Dr. Toy, my chiropractor today.   He says I am doing quite well, and I can attest to that.   I have far less aches and pains these days.

I did a bit of shopping on my way home.     Vita was not happy with me.   She does not approve of my leaving her at any time:)     We had three nice walks today.     The last one was pretty hot but I wore a shirt and hat to protect my skin which is reacting to the sun since I had the chemo.    Darn.

I have started reading again.     I used to read all the time, but when Dick got sick, he stopped reading and I did too.   I don't know why.    But I am reading again and this will keep my hours full.   I need stimulation.

Well, obviously, I got lazy the past two days - probably because being home bound loses its charm after this number of months.

I have managed to keep myself sane and try to accomplish SOMETHING everyday.    Not always easy but at least Vita gets me out of the house at least twice a day for a short walk.     It has to be short because it is SO darned hot.

I went grocery shopping yesterday and did a couple of errands and shopping today.    I am careful to follow the rules and always use my mask when I am in parking lots and stores.

All my family out here are well.   I am planning a small group of my Celtic Club to meet next week on Friday unless there is a resurgence of the virus.    Several restaurants are open and there will only be about five of us.   I am absolutely lonely.

The coming week, because of the pandemic and everything else that is happening, including the marches that are going on that are mainly peaceful.    It will be something to be monitored,    My life will be very quiet as I will stay home except for really important things like Doctor appointments and shopping.   I wear a mask when I go out and am very careful.

Another early HOT day.    My thermometer said 100.     The weatherpersons are saying 95.    I hope they are right - Under any circumstances - it is HOT>

I was home all day.    Watered plants, finished cleaning my sunroom, did the wash.    So I didn't feel so alone until later in the day.     I love voices in the house and called a couple of people.   My lovely niece Suzi is going to call me back.     I am SO glad.

Tomorrow is just as quiet though I will go to Mass at 4:30PM.

We did get a thunderstorm last night.     Lots of thunder - VERY little rain but it scared my Vita no end.     The first thunder sent her under the bed in the guest room.     At least she crawls all the way under.   Our Chelsea used to run in to the bedroom when she heard thunder and just stick her head under the bed.     Her butt was there for all the evil things to get.

Sorry that I got lazy the last couple of nights.     No excuse.     Nothing much is happening around here except the heat.    The weather people say it is 100 Degrees but my  thermometer shows 105 Degrees.      In any case HOT.

Vita and I did go for a couple of walks.    I took the longer one this morning as I knew the more oppressive heat was coming this afternoon.

I remember shortly after Dick and I were married that there was a rather long heat spell in Wisconsin.   We were having trouble sleeping and just being in the house and poor Jim, a night worker was sleeping on the deck which was shady during the day and not as hot as indoors.    One day Dick just said.   "That's it!!! We are getting air conditioning."     And we did too, very quickly.    That many years ago, we were really ahead of most people.

Well,  A quiet weekend ahead.  I'll go to Mass on Saturday night again.

Hope all is well with all of you.     Shelter in place as much as you can and wear masks in crowds.    Bart makes me do this:) so you all have to too.

A reasonably busy day.     Started off with a visit to my Chiropractor, Dr. Toy.    He put my neck back where it belongs and I feel better about that.

Spent the rest of the day writing and trying to think of ideas for poems and also for a quilt.   Will keep working on that.

Nothing else exciting.

Bart called as always.   I am so glad he is here and always checks on me.    I am truly blessed.

I have been thinking.     Kind of dangerous , right?

I was a child when the polio epidemic swept the country.    A neighbor girl died of the disease and sent my mother into a panic with all of her children.

Look up the Watts Riots.   I was in southern California when that summer occurred.    I lived in Costa Mesa no more than 10 or 15 miles from Santa Ana which had its share of the violence.    It was a scary time.    The only thing I can tell you is that this too will pass.    It will be in the memories of people 50 to 60 years from now when something as catastrophic happens again.
Let God bless us and let us help one another.

Take care.

We are supposed to have hot summer weather by the weekend.

What a day.   Not exciting but indicative of what may be coming.\

We had misty weather, far less than the rain and hail that was possible.    Vita and I had three nice walks today.    We don't walk far but it is good for both of us.

Temps were in the low 70s.     Nice but not seasonal.   I spent the day rather lazily, trying to get myself motivated for  poetry and for quilting creations.     Don't know if I did any good, but I didn['t lose ground.:)

It is hard to get motivated when one spends so many hours alone.

A good day.    The weather people keep telling us we are going to get rain, but it does not come.    Tonight is another chance and for the whole weekend.     Poor little Vita is terrified by thunder and hides under the bed.     I remember that our Chelsea used to go into the bedroom and put her head under the bed.    Of course, her little butt was sticking out but she did not know that was a problem.

I listened to a conference on the COVID19 virus put on by my Wells Fargo Investment people.    It was interesting but it mostly reaffirmed what I knew already.

Did a bit of cleaning and took miss Vita out for a couple of walks.    So it was a good day.

I had ordered meds from Humana, coffee from Kuerig and they both arrived today.      Such service.   I also got my stimulus check.    I am going to donate that for someplace that will help families feed their kids.    Am I ever blessed, I don't need it.

It was a very nice birthday.     I was able to go to Mass at church this noon and actually receive Holy Communion which I have been missing DO much.   This mass  was set aside for the parishioners that are over 60 years old.     There were 25 or more people there which I thought was pretty good.    I am planning on going again on Saturday evening.

After Mass I stopped at Taco Bell and bought a taco.    I was just hungry for a California style taco and it really tasted good to me.     I got lots of birthday emails, cards and some calls for the day.    Can't do anything much with the pandemic and all but I am very pleased and happy.     After this is all over - Bart, Barb and I are going out to a special dinner to celebrate the occasions we missed during all of this   I want it to be on me.   Anybody else want to come?

Got a bit of cleaning done today also.    Kerry is going to start cleaning again next Tuesday.    It just takes me too long to get things done and I don't get everything.   Things are settling a bit and I know Kerry wouldn't come if she had any symptoms.

Don't exactly know what I did with the above paragraph, but it does make the blog look interesting, don't you think?

Whew.    I finally had a busy day.

Shawn came today to reset my shed in the back.     He had to move it off of the rotten base it was on, build a new and good base and attach the shed to it and haul off all the rotten floor from the first installation.     Looks so good.

Also, Dan and Han came and mowed my lawn today.    So poor Vita was on overload.    She is getting quite friendly and greets most people.    She did bark at Shawn's father in law, but he was doing something she didn't understand.

The day was perfect for all this work.

I am so relieved to have these things done.     Vita and I went for a couple of walks today too.  Only two more projects to be done.    The only major is trying to get grass to grow in a shady back yard.
I am getting lots of advice:)

I started today at the chiropractor's office, Dr. Toy.     He is working on getting my back and shoulder to stop aching.    It is not bad and usually hurts then goes away for a while.

I heard from two dear friends today and had nice talks with them.    I can't tell you how much it means to me to have a voice in the house to talk to even if it is on the telephone.

Generally, the rest of the day was quiet.   Vita and I went for three walks today so I hope she is a happy girl.

I am feeling well.

Another day at home.     It was sunny and warm.    Vita and I had a couple of really good walks.    She is getting demanding.     Could be a problem:)

Aunt Kathleen called today.    I was so glad to talk to her as she, of course, loved George and I am sure just wanted to talk about him   AND the fact that I will be 80 on Thursday.    Aunt Kathleen is my godmother.   I am so proud to say.     She is 96 years old and as young as I am.

Otherwise it has been a quiet day.    Bart called this afternoon.    He always checks in on me, bless his soul.   I am a lucky Mom.

Tomorrow I think I will bake some bread and Lavender Scones.     I have to see Dr. Toy too.    Good thing.   My shoulder has been aching lately.

Hope you are all well.     I wish I could hug every one of you!!!

Saturday, May 16, 2020

Well, I just wasn't up to posting yesterday.     Some of my readers know why, but for those that don't.

I got a call at about 7AM from my brother, Jeff, calling to tell me that my brother, George, who lives near Houston, had passed away at 5:30AM.      Betsy called Jeff to ask him to let the rest of us siblings know.    He has bravely fought cancer for years now and the last few weeks especially, was going down fast.    There was nothing any medicine could do for him and he has gone ahead of us to join his Courtney.     We will miss our Smiling George forever, but he did not need to hang around when he was so weak and sick.   Pray for Betsy and Shawn and his family.    George will be  safe now.

So I called all the rest of my siblings because I needed to hear their voices.    They seemed to feel the same way.    We shared and remembered  and  missed him all at the same time.

Aside from that, which was enough the days have been quiet.   I did get a haircut which got me out of the house for an hour anyway.

Bless you all.   Remember how special each and every one of you is.

Another quiet day.    I didn't go anywhere.     Bart dropped by this afternoon, thank heavens to give me a bread from me and Vita.

It was in the mid to upper 80s today so very warm.   Not as warm as we have to look forward to, of course.

I did some cleaning and worked on my Aerogarden.    I am going to plant tomatoes in it tomorrow.wish me luck.   I am sure they will start but wonder if I will get them to maturity.

The only voice I heard today was my Bart.   He calls me every day and when he is out usually stops to check on me.    I would be lost without him.

I WAS home all day.    Did some cleaning and sorting but should be much more active.   I do take Miss Vita for walks several times a day.     She is going to get spoiled.    The neighbors are impressed with her new hairdo.     I always tell them that she got a nail treatment too:)
What a Diva she is.

Tomorrow I am going to do a few things with my plants and gardens as it is going to be warm and as it is supposed to really rain tonight the ground will be easy to work with.

Nothing else to report

I had my carpet cleaned today.     So glad I know Jamal and his helper.    Not that strangers wouldn't be welcome but it is good to have someone in the house that you know.    Nobody just comes around and I can't just go somewhere either.

I did go to the bank to replenish my cash supply.    Oops.   My sons sat that I give out too much information:)    Well It is not enough that it should be a temptation to anyone.

Vita and I went for three walks today.   Not long walks but we got out and moved a bit.
Did I tell you that I heard from all my 6 kids for Mother's day and I feel very blessed.   I wish I could get us all together sometime.    Maybe when this pandemic is over we could consider that.

Weather is a bit chilly and windy.   But is supposed to go up into the 80s in the next couple of days.   More rain too.   The rain we got was surely welcomed, though the thunder terrified my Vita.

I must be feeling better these days.     I am actually getting things done around the house, including some things that I don't like to face, like repairing my shed in back and getting sod for the back yard.
Not quite ready for the sod, but someone Bart and Barb knows is going to get my shed on a new wood foundation.

Today was quiet =  It was also lovely.   It is almost 4PM and 71 degrees.    I have the house open to let in fresh air.

Still can't get over how different Vita looks with her new do.     One of the neighbors asked if I got a new dog.    The only other neighbor I saw, knew it was a haircut.    She looks cute and is very soft.

My neighbor, Beverly, cooked a turkey that she had in her freezer yesterday.     Then she had so much turkey because she lives alone too that she called me and another neighbor to give some away.     It is VERY good.

Tomorrow I will have my carpets cleaned.

Hope all are well and being good.

Still find Sunday without Mass empty.    I did watch it on YouTube but don't get communion.    Our diocese is allowing masses during the week starting on May 19th.   Communion, only with the host, will be offered.    I HAVE to go.    I will stay as distanced as I can and use the mask AND sanitizer, but I HAVE to receive communion.

Took my Vita in to Pet Smart for nail clipping, a bath and a hair cut for the summer.    She was scared but behaved beautifully.      She sure looks different unless you look directly in to her face.     I am sure she will feel better on our walks on the warm days now.

I got quite a few things done around the house and got calls from my kids so felt very loved today.

In this pandemic, I was remembered!!!!!

This morning I had my port flushed.    All  is well and I don't have to go back for two months.    Sure will be glad when they say I can have that thing removed.

A pretty quiet day but I feel that I got a lot done.    Vita was excessively demanding today.   Don't know what her problem is.

Had a nice long talk with my friend Barbara.    We have been friends since grade school and even spent time in the convent together.     How special it is that friendships stand the test of time.   I heard from some of my Lawton ladies and now am feeling a closer relationship.    When you stand together in the hard times, you know you have it made.

I still try to smile at everybody.    With a mask I didn't know what good it would do, but one man said, don't worry, we can see it in your eyes.

What a joy

Today, my sweetheart would have been 90 years old.    I miss him so.     I can imagine if he were here today he still would be bragging about his young wife, as I will only be 80 on the 21st:)    He still makes me smile.    Am I not the most blessed wife in the world?

A rather pleasant day.   I was home, except for Vita's walks all day.    Bart stopped by and has been able to help me with a couple of "house" questions.   I made a slew of phone calls and am connected with those who have reached out.     Vita was supposed to have her haircut today, but they called and postponed it until Sunday afternoon.    So she is still a scraggledy little pup.

It was a day at home all day.

Thank heavens I saw SOME real live people.    Dan and Han, my lawn mowers came to do my yard and I talked to them a bit.    Outside is much safer and they are fun to talk to.

Then, I actually cleaned.   I cleaned both of my bathrooms quite deeply and am very proud of myself.    That is really much easier than vacuuming so I shouldn't get to cocky.

It was a lovely day and is supposed to be even nicer tomorrow, though I would not be offended with some rain.    We really need it.

Bless you all.    I miss voices in the house, and a warm body.

A busy two days.

Yesterday, I saw Dr. Toy in the morning then Dr. Aiku in the afternoon.

Both say I am doing OK, but Dr. Aiku wants me to gain weight and is insisting that I drink two of those icky protein drinks every day.    Oh Well.

After her appointment I did my grocery shopping.

Today, I got up early to go back to the Clinic for my Lab Tests.   They had not been ordered for yesterday and I had eaten lunch so had to wait for today.

Home again, I did some cleaning and sorting and made a batch of Chicken and Kale soup which smells wonderful.

Tomorrow I will be home all day.

Trying to write    Will share an unnamed Haiku with you all.

Well,   as I said having someone in the house sure threw me off.     We didn't DO anything exciting, just visited and took care of our various critters and ourselves.     We BOTH loved having someone to talk to.

Had Bart and Barb and Marlies over for dinner one night and Barb brought us dinner one night.    The they invited us over on Saturday for brats.      A nice week.     Bart's back was really bothering him so he wasn't able to do a couple of things he wanted to with Jim, but they had some good visits anyway.

He will be back.

Have a busy week ahead.    Three medical appointments and Vita will be getting her first haircut since moving in with me.     I really wasn't thinking about that as Nicky did not need them but she is definitely shaggy and it is getting hot.

So hope you are all well and that you missed me Just a little:)

Having someone in the house, throws me off my schedule.   Not that I am so busy but things are different.    I forgot to post last night and almost forgot tonight.

The weather has been lovely.   Today a bit windy but lovely.    It is supposed to get HOT on the weekend and would you believe my air conditioner is acting up.     S & R are going to fix it tomorrow though.    Thank heavens.

Jim and the dogs and I are enjoying our visit.     We are quite compatible and the dogs get along just fine.

We just go about our business just visiting and hanging out.    It is nice to have someone in the house.

Nothing else new to report. Love you all.

Did some cleaning and work around the house   Nothing strenuous and spent a lot of time just relaxing and visiting with Jim.    It is nice having a person in the house.

Tomorrow is more of the same.    I will probably work on my quilting project and a poem or two also and we may get some storms in the afternoon.

This has been a couple of really nice days considering the pandemic.

The weather has been just super.    Sunny but not too windy or warm.

Yesterday, my Bart came to see me in the morning and we had a super visit and I got to hug him.

Last evening, Jim came down from OK City after spending two or more weeks in quarentine with no signs of disease.   He is staying with me for a while and I can't tell you how much it means to have someone to TALK to in the flesh.   He has his two doggies which is fine with me.    They are nice girls and Vita does not mind them.

Anyway, all is well here and we are working to keep it this way.    Hope this is not the new norma.

I love you all and God Bless You And Keep You Safe!!!!!

A lovely day around 85 degrees and sunny.   But nothing happened.    I finally finished cleaning my house.   It only takes me two weeks.   I hope this passes and I can get my Kerry back.

Bless you all as this pandemic makes its way over our land.
Be safe and protect those you love and even those you don't love as we are all responsible for each other.

This too will pass.   I pray for you all daily and trust that things will work themselves out as we learn to take care of each other, even the least of our brethren:)

We had a nice wet short thunderstorm this morning.   Yea.    I needed rain so that I didn't have to go out to water the lawn.   I told you that Dan put seed and stuff on the grassy areas.

The rest of the day was uneventful.   It got up into the high 70s and Vita and I walked a few times.     She is getting pretty active these days.     At least, she likes to spend time in the backyard chasing squirrels and just exploring, because I am not good at playing doggy games.

I think she will enjoy it when Jim comes again with his dogs.   It will keep her entertained.  I will have to hide her little toys because I believe that Paisley and Gracy would eat them:)   They are sweet dogs though.

Tomorrow is supposed to be dry and warm.     I probably will do a bit of watering.

A day spent at home all day except for some walks with my Vita.   It was a beautiful day, my thermometer says that it is 80 degrees out there.    Very little wind and a comfortable wind.   We are supposed to get rain tonight.   I hope we do.   Otherwise, I am going to have to water my yard, as Dan put stuff on it that needs to be watered.  So I am praying for rain:)

I did some cleaning today.    It has taken me a week or more to do what Kerry does in one day.   I can only vacuum one room at a time.   In case your were wondering.     I am really spoiled.    Dick did that to me.    Wasn't he nice?

Tomorrow will be another quiet day.    I try to "schedule" things to do before I go to bed and early in the morning and it does help.

Hope you are all well.    Let me know how you are doing.    I love you all.

At least I had something to do this morning.    I had an appointment with my chiropractor.    Dr. Toy said that the hospitals don't want him to close because he keeps people out of emergency wards.    He has his office pretty COVID safe.    When you come in, you wash your hands.    Then you are taken to a room.   All the staff are wearing face masks.    He is only using two of the rooms.     In  one he treats a patient.   In the meantime they santitize the room in which the Last patient was treated.    So you are always taken into a clean room.     I was impressed.

This afternoon, my lawn mower, Dan and his wife, Han, came and took care of mowing and weed and seeding the lawn.    It is supposed to rain tomorrow so I should  not even have to water the weed and seed.    Pray this happens.

It was a lovely day, way up in the 70s.    Vita and I had three really nice walks.    She sure prances along when we go out.        I am so blessed to have her to "walk" me.     I don't know what I would do otherwise:)

One of my friends, Marti, who belongs to Writer's Club AND Bible Study with me, called this afternoon and we had a really nice visit.

Got to get a project in my mind for tomorrow.

Can't believe another weekend without going to MASS.  Thank God, that the churches are able to air the Masses so at least I feel that I am praying with a priest.   I do so miss communion.   Fr. Phil gave us a spiritual communion to read during the aired mass at least.

It was cloudy most of the day.    Vita and I went out for three walks today.     She was a happy girl.

I got to see Bart and Barb today.    I hate this social distancing.    No hugs, but good to see them.   They bought me lunch too.    Yea.

Barbara dropped off a mask that she made for me.  AND I have one that Bret's Janet made for me.   So I have three cloth masks and I finally got the masks that I sent for two months ago.    So I have no excuse to go out unprotected.

Wasn't very creative today, but then, it is a day of rest.

Another quiet day.    The weather was OK.   In the mid to upper 60s.

I did talk to a couple of people today, notably my cousin, Diana Cool, who is very interested in our ancestors and may get me back into updating Ancestry, my tree, along with my cousin, Colleen's daughter, Julie who has contacted me after seeing my  tree.     Since I moved to Oklahoma, I have been very BAD about working on it and probably have dozens of hints that I should update.   This may give me the push I need.

Tomorrow looks to be another quiet day.   I hope to catch Mass on the YouTube.    It has been very comforting to me.

Two rather uneventful days.    The weather is rather chilly and below normal.   But not bad, except for the wind.    Today one of my walks with Vita was really uncomfortable.    She is so low to the ground that it does not bother her much.       I might have just put her in the back yard this morning, but True Green did their thing yesterday at noon, that is not good for puppies at all.

Now I can let her out in back yard again.

It is hard to be secluded in my home, but I look at the families that cannot get food or are afraid of losing their apartment or home as this pandemic rolls on and on and realize how blessed I am.   I can even spend money on food for my DOG!!! would you believe?

I pray every time it enters my mind for the doctors and scientists to find a solution and cure and inoculation for this horrible disease.    In my 79 years I never envisioned such a far reaching and horrible pandemic.

I pray for you all.

I woke up this morning to 31 degree temps but it quickly recovered and I was able to walk my Vita sans jacket this afternoon.    Not really WARM but in the mid 60s.which probable feels warm to my friends from the north.

We are on such a roller coaster of weather.   One day 31 one day 70;    Oh well, at least we get the 70s.  Vita does not care except she does not like rain, thunder or really strong winds.     I don't think that is asking too much either.

I went grocery shopping for myself today, wearing a mask of course, the first time in three weeks.   It felt good.   I am reminded of my Grandma Bowser when she was very old and Aunt Kathleen offered to go grocery shopping for her.     Grandma started to give her list then sighed and leaned back and said.   "I LIKE TO CHOOSE MY OWN MEAT."    Now I know what she meant.    We lose our independence one little item at a time.

Home almost all day again.   I did go to the bank and got some money through the ATM.   What did we do before ATM.    I remember when it first started, if we were short of money, my boys would say "Why don't we just go to the money machine?"    I suppose kids still do that.

I kept my self pretty busy today and tomorrow have "permission" to go to the grocery store!!!

We were supposed to have some possible bad weather including hail today.     We did have some thunder, which scared my little Vita, as I had taken her outside just when it got loud which sent her heading back to the front door as fast as her little legs could take her and drag me.

I spent part of the morning on the phone connecting with my Celtic friends who do not have email.   I would rather email everybody.    Normally I send the non email people printed copies, But since I wanted to wish everybody a Happy Easter, decided to call.    It was actually fun.   They are all friends and I had "voices in the house'. :)

This virus sure has us all in an odd situation.  I am kind of glad that I have become used to spending portions of my week alone.    It must be terrible for people who are used to having contact with other humans on a daily basis.   I pray for them.

Tomorrow is Easter Sunday.    Let us all pray that this situation will fairly quickly resolve itself.    A worldwide pandemic like this a almost impossible to comprehend.

Meanwhile stay safe and be good to yourself and yours.

A mild but misty day today with no sunshine.

Was able to walk however, so I have had some exercise    I have some projects in the works, but kind of feel lazy today.     I did sweep the sun room and got really brave and ordered groceries to be delivered from Country Mart.   I have a few questions before I try again.   They do make substitutions which is OK but I have to learn how to communicate with my shopper.

Talked to a couple of my friends today.    Trying to connect with people every day.    Bart dropped off food for my dinner.    I can't hug him though:(   He stays the 6 feet away.

I also saw my chiropractor today.    My Arthritis Doctor, Dr. Simon, is going to consult with me over the phone on Thursday.    Probably safer.     I wore a mask that I made on Sunday to the chiropractor's office.    They were all wearing them too.

Then I ran into another neighbor out in his yard and we talked.   He is a new cancer survivor so we had lots to share as I had not seen him in some time.

We are having warm, dry days.    Nice for walks as I am trapped in this house as far as communication with real live people.      I realize that this is the best strategy at this time, but it is hard.    You, who know me, know what a social person I am.   That's why I get involved with things like bible study, writing club, Irish groups and quilting.

Oh.   Well   This too shall  pass.   I am praying for all of you that you do not succumb to this awful virus.      I am reminded of the polio epidemic in the early 50s.     A neighbor's daughter got it and died in an iron lung in Milwaukee.    My sister, Nora, was babysitting when the fever hit the girl.    My poor Mother was in a state of panic with all of her children.    Nora had to get gamma globulin shots and was she ever upset.

That meant that 2 hours that I would have spent at Church had to be filled and I am running out of Sunday things to do.   One would think the day makes no difference, but it does.   I have started reading a book that I had around, Knots and Crosses by Ian Rankin.   Quite a fun book. I am finally getting back into reading.

Have a good week.   Mine will be same old, same old for a bit.    I do see Dr. Toy, my chiropractor, tomorrow.

Another day at home.    Vita and I,at least, get out for walks.   But I miss people.

Catching up on stuff around the house.

Was home all day and it was windy and rather chilly.     Just as well, that virus is scary.

I know that mine are well or at least ensconced in their homes.    Keep praying for good things.

Another day at home.    Vita and I did take two walks so I got fresh air and some exercise.    Bart stopped by with some wine for me as he knew I was running low and didn't want me to go out.    He described me to the clerk at S & W Liquor.     I suppose I should be embarrassed, but I am not.   They know me and told him what I get:)
At least somebody knows me in Oklahoma.

Been talking to an old school mate of mine.    We even were in the convent together.   She sent me a video of two of her grandchildren who do Irish Dancing.     Boy are they good and it was my only Irish entertainment this year.    I did make a batch of colcannon which I am still enjoying and received several cards from special people.

Rain is now delayed for several days.   But the temperatures seem pleasant.

This is a really troubled, probably a mild word, in our world today.  Because of the Corando Viirus.   I feel rather trapped at home.    I am going to tell you a story that some of you might have heard before.

Many years ago, when Bret, my oldest, was about three years old, his father had broken his arm and was off work for several weeks.    It was a rough time, as I was not working then.

One day as I was hanging clothes out in the backyard (no dryer then), Bret was swinging on his swing set.    As he swung, he kept repeating this Mantra.   "Don't worry, Mom.    Everything will be OK.     Don't worry, Mom.    Everything will be All Right!"

I can't tell you how comforting that was.   My neighbor heard him through her kitchen window and was in tears.

Bret and I still say that to each other when things are bad.    Let's all say it to each other NOW.

Was cloudy but not rainy and a bit warmer today.   Vita and I had two decent walks, especially this afternoon when we went around the block.    It is supposed to rain for the next three days or so but the temperatures are going up.

Bart has requested that I not go anywhere.    We did cancel the Celtic Club St. Patrick's day celebration.    We are thinking of doing it next month.    The church has cancelled lots of stuff.    There is no bible Study on Wednesday and the Archbishop recommends that those who are in the areas of concern (AGE  Health) which I am both are requested to not go to church but watch mass on TV.   That is fine, but how do I participate in the supper of the Lord?:)

Oh Well, Bart is very concerned and checking on me at least twice a day.    I feel very treasured!!!

I got a phone project done today and I made scones.    Yea.   They smell good.

A chilly and rainy Friday.    Fortunately, I am home all day so can kind of hunker down in my little nest and enjoy the quiet.     Vita is not fond of rain falling on her so walks and back yard forays are short and quick.

I am cleaning a few cluttered areas.    Must be spring:) because I feel like doing it.    So far my office and my t-shirt shelves are managable.    I have so Many t shirts.    but I like them all.   So will wait til they fade, stain or tear before I dispose of them.

Did my wash and changed the sheets today too.   Still managed to rest though.   I feel pretty good and with this Coronado virus thing it is probably just as well that I stay close to home.

Later.

    1. Mass and bible study this morning.

Tuesday, March 10, 2020

We are supposed to stay really nice and warm until almost the weekend.     Then a cool front will come though and we are to get rain.     Welcome rain as we are still pretty dry.

Miss Vita and I are really enjoying our walks.    She wants to be out more than I do though and can sometimes be a bit of a pest about it.    She has her ideas about how things should be done.    But I am still in charge:)    After all, I supply the food and love.

Went to Writer's Club this evening.    There were four of us and we all read something so it was fun and interesting.   Our Katherine is graduating from Cameron University, here in Lawton, on May 1st.    I plan on going with Marti and Carlos.   I have known Katherine from the time I joined this club over 3 years ago now.    She is a talented lovely girl.

So that was my day.

It was a really nice warm day today.   My thermometer registered 81 degrees at its peak.    Good for walking.    They had predicted some morning rain which we could have used but that did not happen.   I was home all day until 6:30PM

Then Quilt Guild.    It was a nice meeting, full of information, lovely quilts and finishing with a game of Jeopardy that was lively.     My team won and we all got a nice little scissors.

Tomorrow will be quiet until Writer's Club in the evening.   I have a couple things written and will try for something more tomorrow morning.

We finally got a little rain, which we desperately need.   Vita was not happy with the rain but that is OK.     She will go out when she has to and the rain IS sporatic.

Went to Mass this morning.    I miss having the communal cup as part of my sacrament but do understand the sense of not doing it.   I miss the peace sign also.    A young kid offered me his had and his Grandma nodded so I clasped it.    He is the same young soul who hugged me a couple of weeks ago.    Peace is hard to maintain without human love and sharing of both touch and voice.

It was a pleasant day today.    Not as sunny warm as yesterday but nice.   We had our walks and Miss Vita was happy.

I went to Stations of the Cross tonight.    Holy Family has them at 6:00PM in English and then 6:30PM in Spanish, followed by a Lenton Supper.    It was good too.  Soups and salads and chips and salsa.    Very nice.   I hope I feel well enough to go every Friday.

Tomorrow HOME ALL DAY.

Home all day.    A lovely day though a bit windy.

Vita talked me into three walks today.    She is such a pest:)   I am so glad I have her, she is getting me out of my comfort zone.

Got my trip to the Wild Game Dinner in May ALMOST done.   Still have to plan ground transportation and meeting with some of my friends.    This is OK cause I have two month yet.    I feel very efficient.

I made a batch of Pasties a week ago and am having one for dinner tonight.    Looking forward to that.
Love you all

It was cooler today, but still quite pleasant with a high in the mid 60s.    Vita and I like that for walks.   She loves her walks but is starting to really enjoy her back yard too because she sees  squirrels and can pretend to chase them up trees.

Tomorrow we May get some welcome rain.

Bart stopped by for a visit this morning.    Always glad when he does.   He got here just after I got home from the store.    He has encouraged me to stock up on food etc in case things get bad with this virus and the flu both sweeping the country.    I would be fine for quite a long time if I couldn't get out.   Bart is pleased with me:)

This week is comparatively quiet.    At lease I don't have any doctor appointments.

A lovely warm day.    The temperatures topped 84 degrees.     Vita and I had two wonderful walks.  I know we won't (at least I won't) be so delighted when things get over 100 degrees, but we will not hold our breaths and hope for this type of weather to continue.

I went to mass at 8:30AM.   A nice mass.   Father is telling people that if they are uncomfortable shaking hands at the peace sign to just not and smile.    So far, don't tell Bart, I am not concerned in that venue.   Perhaps if it gets more prevalent, but I do not hear coughing etc during the service so figure people are being sensible about coming too if they are feeling ill.

Hard to believe that it is March already.    Only two weeks til St. Patrick's Day.

I had  a whole two days at home.   The weather was pleasant.   I am sure I will be remembering these lovely days when the temps are 90 plus for days and days this summer.    I am sure I will appreciate them more than the cold which penetrates the bones.

I have been quite busy with projects and reading and walking my Vita   (I should say my Vita walking me, as I always way I get a dog to walk me as I am basically pretty lazy.)    There is a pretty good Oklahoma wind but not insurmountable.   We still liked our walk and I have found that neighbors have missed me:)    How blessed can I be.

A busy day.    A friend of mine, Bonnie, invited me to have lunch with the Lawton Red Hat Club.   I knew a couple of people and they are a friendly group.     A decent meal at Fusion, a local restaurant.

Tonight I went over to church where we had the pleasure of having a program by Linda Schaefer, a photographer, author, who spent quite a bit of time with Mother Teresa from 1990 and on until her death and still has contact and works with the Sisters.     She was fascinating and I bought two of her books  - Encountering Mother Teresa and Come and See.      What an exciting life she has lived.

Woke up to temperatures inn the low 20s.    It did get up to 51 this afternoon, but the wind never stopped blowing.

Today is Ash Wednesday so I went to my usual Bible Study, then went directly to Mass at noon.    I was an usher at this mass which is always nice.    Get to greet everybody and be part of the service.

Anyway, I got my ashes this year.    I don't think I have ever not gotten to the Ash Wednesday service now that I think about it.

The wind brought the rather mild temperatures down to downright chilly.

I think Vita was disappointed in me because I did not take her around the block.

Got my hearing aid checked and a bit more education on how to use it.    I am not going to be like Grandma Bowser and leave it in my desk drawer:)

Got a haircut today to.    Tomorrow I am going to lunch with a friend and then to a talk at church from a woman who met Mother Teresa.

Nice Week

Vita and I went for two walks today.    It was much more pleasant this afternoon but as we take a shorter morning walk, they both were good.

I was home ALL day today.    What a blessing.   I am making pasties.    I mixed up the dough today and will finish tomorrow.   Then I will have some quick meals in the freezer,   I already have some soup and chili.

Since I am planning things, I obviously am feeling better these days.

It was in the 20's when I got up this morning, but did warm up to almost 50 by afternoon so the day redeemed itself and I could take my Vita for a walk, or as I say, Vita could walk me.

The Celtic Club met at Milano's this afternoon at 2pm.    I gave a bit of a presentation about St. Bridget as it is her month, after we ate their excellent food.   We had 10 of us there again.   A good turnout.   I am so pleased with finding these Celtic friends as there is so little Celtic around here.  Next month we decided to meet on St. Patrick's Day for Corned Beef and Cabbage.     Sounds good to me.
