What a marvelous weekend with my sister, Nora, her husband, their son, Stenn and his wife, Bing, and my brother George and his wife Betsy.    This is the 4th year we have gathered in Plano and taken the train to Fair Park on that first Saturday in March for the Texas Irishfest.

We converged on Friday afternoon and went out for dinner.   Then Saturday, which was the most beautiful day that could be expected, we went to the Irish Fest.  We all did out thing, seeing musicians, wonderful dancers and vendors up the wazoo.

My brother George, who is in the middle of treatments, is doing quite well.   He is a trooper and always full of joy.    He and I walked all over those fair grounds and did what we WANTED  to do.   His Betsy is a true jewel.

We left the park at about 4:30PM to get back to Leif and Nora's house for Shepherd's Pie make especially for us by our Stenn.  Bing brought Chinese dumplings too.   With the Hor de vours that Nora served while the rest of the meal was served, we were properly stuffed.

We ended the evening with the second annual Whiskey Tasting Contest.  George, Leif, Stenn and I were the participants,   Betsy, Nora and Bing did the serving and scoring.     Uncle George won for the second time with two right our of the four.   I am proud to say that I DID get one right.

Sunday we gathered again just for a moment to say goodby before we travelers, headed for home.

I had an uneventful trip  except that it rained most of the way.    We realy did need the rain here in Lawton..   Stopped once to eat something and was at Bart and Barb's to pick up Nicky by 2PM.    Barb is much better but still weak as a kitten.  I wish she could regain some strength.

Nicky was very glad to see me and to come home.   He is a good little friend.

Yesterday I spent organizing and packing for my drive to Texas for the Irishfest weekend with Nora and Leif. George and Betsy and Stenn and Bing.     This will be our third year going together.    So glad I am well enough to make the trip.    I will definitely take my time.   

So you won't hear from me tomorrow, but I will be back on Sunday.

It was a busy day.    Almost too busy.

I had lunch at the Center for Creative Living with my friend, John Kennedy, who belongs to the Celtic Club.     Don't get any ideas,   John is married and a good husband.

Then tonight, as it is Ash Wednesday, I went to Mass and to get my ashes.   I was ushering too.   Almost too much as with the distribution of ashes AND communion it took a lot of work,   But I did it and now I can go right to bed and hopefully will sleep.

Just got home from Writer's Club.     Heard the next chapters in Karlos and Marti's books and Katherine gave us a book that she helped publish with several of her works.    She read a couple of her pieces from the book.    I read the poem Karl Elder published in his reminder of the Poet's Circle meeting and one of mine.   

So it was a full   fun night.

Cold, Cold, Cold.   It was 11 degrees when I woke up this morning.    I don't care about below zero for some of my readers.   11 degrees is COLD.  And that doesn't factor in the wind chill factor.

Thank heavens I did not have to go anywhere today.

Tomorrow starts out much the same but will warm up some anyway.    I do plan on going to Writer's Club anyway.  I need to interact with people.

Pretty proud of myself.   I went to the 8:30AM mass this morning and I served as an usher.    Something I could not have done, even last week.   I am much better.

The rest of the day was quiet .  I did some cleaning of my pantry.

Got a call from Barbara.  She has had an ear infection and now Bart has caught it.  Please pray for a quick recovery.   Needless to say I will not see them until they are  healed.

Aside from going to see Dr. Toy (My chiropractor) and grocery shopping, it was a day at home.

Got a couple of phone calls and did a few things around the house.    Nicky and I don't make too much of a mess but we do make some.

Well.   Good news.   Had a bone scan done this morning.     No cancer.   So I am cancer free everywhere.   Now we have to figure out why my hips are hurting to much when I try to sleep at night.

Well,    Had my teeth cleaned today and have an appointment for some work later on this month.

Then I washed the sheets of my bed and just messed around here.

Tonight I went to Writer's Club.   There were only three of us there.   But we all read.   I read a poem that my Dad, Hutz Deeley wrote many years ago.    Perhaps you would enjoy it.

It wasn't a bad day today weatherwise.     A bit windy but the temps were in the 60s and the sun felt good when I went to get the mail.

I got gas in the car today and went to the Center for Creative Living and found out when to come back to have my taxes figured out.    They do it free, which is great though I would not mind paying a fee.    I just don't know how to do it in Oklahoma and don't know WHO does it so this is a real service.

Bart's friend, Scott, is visiting him this week and they came over this afternoon to visit.    A real pleasure.   Scott is a nice man and he and Bart have been friends since they were about 8 to 10 years old.   I am not sure exactly.    But he is always nice to have around.

Tomorrow I will be going to the dentist in the morning and to Writer's Club in the evening.

Yesterday, I was home all day with no excitement at all.   I did a few things , like the wash and cleaning the kitchen counters so I am becoming less of a slug as time goes on.   I sure will be glad to get my strength and ambition back.

Today, I went to the 11:00AM Mass as it is still a bit of a stretch to be ready to leave the house at 8:15AM.    I get tired getting Nicky and the morning things done that fast and seem to need a bit of a rest after that.   I think I will try it next week though.   I prefer going to Mass early in the morning and then joining those who go for donuts and coffee after Mass.  I've missed that.

This week I plan on doing my taxes.   I can get help at the Center for Creative Living here in Lawton.   I have not done them myself for years and have never done the Oklahoma ones without help.

Good news.    The CTSCAN shows that I am still cancer free.   Dr. Aye ordered a bone scan to just reassure us that the pain in my joints is not anything there but so far so good.

The rest of the day was quiet.  Sorry it took so long for me to blog today.   Got distracted.

Bible Study today.     We are between the parish's bible studies so are doing a book discussion which is quite interesting.   I like tha fact at we all pray for each other and for those that are important to us with special needs.

Tomorrow I will hear the resusts of the CT SCAN.  My bible study group is praying for good reults.   I ask you to do the same.   

This afternoon I met with my local stock broker at Edward Jones.    We just reviewed my portfolio and made a couple of small adjustments.   I am pretty conservative but look for a better than bank return.   Most of my stuff is still at Wells, but I like to have a local entity.

Nothing else new.  It was lovely today Temps in the upper 50s and sunny.   How blessed am I.

Today was fairly busy.    I had my CT Scan for 12:00Noon at Comanche.      Had to fast from food AND water from Midnight.    They tell me that I am underweight and then have me skip breakfast and not have any lunch or fluids until 1PM.    Go figure.     But the test is important.

I will find out the results on Thursday when I see Dr. Aye for my checkup.  

That was all the excitement.  Did a bit of sewing and writing  I am trying very hard to restimulate my creative side.

Well.     I spent most of the day at a quilting class presented by a Bobbie Berrquist, who along with her husband, owns a company called Quilter's Treasures.    They give classes and sell patterns, fabric and almost every gadget known to the quilting world.   What she taught us was an interesting technique   but nothing that I would choose to do again.    But then I like my quilt hangings best as far as creativity.

It started at 9AM and ended at 3PM.    I couldn't make it past two.   I was so sore and tired that I decided that I needed to get home.      A good experience but much too long for me.

So   home I came.   Got a package of Bovvie's special Valentine cookies today and I was home in time to accept it right from the postman's hand.    

Guess that's all    I am very tired and hope I get to sleep before my hips start hurting again.

I had a few appointments today.    First - I saw Dr. Toy, my chiropractor, who adjusted me.    I was down to once a month for just minor realignment but this illness has really goofed me up.   I will see him again next week.   Hopefully then we can stretch it out again.

Then I went to get my mediport flushed which I have to do every four weeks.  It was fine.

This afternoon, we had the Celtic Club meeting at the Shamrock.   Our member, and my friend, Robbi, gave a presentation on the structure and background of the people in the Celtic Nations, going back to the Picts and the Gaels.   Our people have a lot to contribute.  Next week we will share what we know about St. Patrick.

A quilting class tomorrow.   6 hours.   I hope I am up to it.  Pray for me.

It was over 70 degrees most of the day today.   One of the days I am glad that I am in Oklahoma now.  

This too shall pass but the lowest temperatures I saw in the following week were in the low 40s maybe high 30s.    Nothing like I would be experiencing in Wisconsin.

Nicky had his "wellness exam" at Meadow Wood today.   It cost me a fortune, mainly the heart and flea meds for  the next six months.   He is just fine and has lost a pound.   Good thing!   He was packing it on for a while and with us not walking daily, not wearing it off.

Anyway.   Decent day.   Tomorrow I meet with my Celtic Group.

Well, today was a rather active day.

I went to Bible Study at 10AM.   There were 10 of us there and as always we had a lively discussion.   We often talk about the issues of the day too.    I am glad to get back to the meeting .   Gives my brain something to do.

Then I picked Bart up and took him to the car dealer to pick up his car which he had in for an oil change and on to some grocery shopping.   Got home at about 12:30 had a sandwich and took a nap. 

Dolores called today and we had a lovely visit.   I also talked to Nora.    She and Leif celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary yesterday.    Wow.

Don't want to rub it in but we had a nice day today.   A bit windy but the temps were in the upper 60s.
This will change on the weekend.  I like Oklahoma this time of year:)

Just got home from Writer's Club.     I am making myself do stuff as I am gaining strength.   This is a nice group of four of us and the hardest part is driving there.   I wrote two poems today and have made a vow to write something every day - here is one of them

It was a nice day today.     64 degrees and sunny.     This too shall pass.   Winter returns this weekend but I am going to enjoy the next couple of spring like days.

I got a call from my friend, Joanne, today asking if I was OK because she follows my Blog and I had not posted since 1/20/19.

I have a good and bad explanation for anybody who is still checking on me.    I ended up in the hospital for 6 days with pneumonia.   When I got out of the hospital, frankly, the blog was the last thing on my mind.     I am still very weak and will need a couple weeks to be back to normal but have been able to be home and taking care of myself.     I apologize to those who check my blog.   My mind just erased the thought of it.   Now it will give me a reason to DO something every day again.   I need a project every day and you are going to be IT.

I will be going to the Wichita Mountain Quilt Guild meeting tonight.   My first venture out at night.   I did to to church yesterday so am working my way back to normal, or as Barbara tells me, to my new normal:)

I ushered at Mass this morning.   I was substituting. Actually, woke up this morning feeling squishy again, but I made it through.     I have made it clear that I don't feel confident enough to be head usher yet.

The rest of the day I did not SEE a soul.   But, Dan, my lawn mower, called to see how I was doing. How nice that people care:)

It was COLD today.     During the night I heard some really strong thunder and precipitation.    There were patches of snow under the trees  in the back yards so we had some rain, snow., sleet?

At least in Wisconsin I expected this kind of stuff.:)

At least I didn't have to go anywhere today.    Nicky was especially glad of that.   He doesn't like it when I leave.

I was home ALL day today.   Talked to Bart and took care of some bills and appointments.   I still am a bit behind on that but when one is retired, on can be behind at one's own pace:)

The pain patch doesn't help pain much but does make me sleepy.   I took two naps today and am still tired.    Tomorrow I will be busy and out of the house a couple of times so that will motivate me a bit.

Went to Mass at 9AM this morning, then on to Bible Study.    We had a full table at bible study and a lively discussion of Paul's letter as it relates to us today.

I was home the rest of the day    Bart came over this afternoon and almost has my new doorbell installed.    He needs a different drill than the one he brought with him.    We had a good visit anyway.

He invited me to go to dinner and a movie on Saturday evening.   Sounds like fun.   I can't remember the last time I went to a movie and dinner out is a rather distant memory also:)

The rest of the day was quiet.  My friend, Barbara, from Minnesota, called this evening and we had a really nice visit.    I am so grateful for all the friends and voices that keep me in contact with other human beings.

 Another day at home.   The only time I left the house was to let Nicky take me for a walk this afternoon.   It was really too cold, 42degrees, but the wind was down and I thought the exercise would be good for both of us.

The rest of the day just passed.   The pain patch does not seem to be doing much for pain, but leaves me exhausted.    Will have to call Dr. Aye about that on Monday.   I am sleeping better anyway.

Tomorrow is Sunday again.   Mass in the morning and then another day at home.

It was OK for Nicky and I to take our walk this afternoon.   It is supposed to rain tomorrow so walking will be out.

It was a nice day.   I went to Mass this morning and then after Mass to the Bible Study.    We are starting a new study of St. Paul's letter to the Corinthians.    Very interesting.

The rest of the day was Very quiet.   I called Dolores to wish her a happy birthday.   We are so blessed to have such a wonderful family.   Dolores is one of the special ones.  She and I were thanking our lucky stars for all the great people in our families, down to great grandchildren now.    WOW>

Just got home from the Writer's Club meeting.   Our first one of 2019

Got home just as the president was finishing and the democrats are starting their talks.    I don't feel bad missing the talk as that is probably all we will hear for the next three days at lease.

The writer's club meeting was good.  Only three of us but we heard a good chapter from Carlos and they said they enjoyed my poems.

The snow is ALL gone..   Today was cloudy and a bit breezy but the temps were in the upper 50s.  So Nicky and I took a walk this afternoon.   He thinks we should go for a walk every day (unless it try to take him out in the rain or snow.) 

I went to the 8:30AM Mass this morning.    It was a nice Mass.  Fr. Phil talked about the Magi coming to acknowledge Jesus birth because of the star.    I wonder if anybody would pay attention to a star these days?

The rest if the day was quiet.   I did a load of wash but nothing else terrible productive.

Tomorrow I see Dr. Aye.  Perhaps she will have some answers to the discomfort I am experiencing.   One can hope:)

Spent the last two days mainly at home.  Did have to pick up a prescription yesterday.

Got some closet organizing and some cooking done and worked a bit on thinking about tax time..

Bart stopped by yesterday and helped me with a couple of things.   So I did see somebody.    The days can get awfully long here - Nicky doesn't say much.    Barbara stopped by today with my energy drinks so I don't feel alone today either.

I can't believe how tired I am tonight.

The snow we got, a couple to four inches, yesterday, is all gone now.    And we are getting up into the 50s and 60s again.    Nicky and I went for a walk today.   I am going almost every day now.  I know it is good for me.

SNOW.    We have snow.    Lawton has gotten over 4 inches today and it is supposed to continue into the night.

I only had to go to the dentist this morning, in the early stages, and the dentist is about four blocks from me.   So I am safe.    I can stay home all day tomorrow when it might be slippery.

We will be having warmer weather this weekend so this will all be gone by Saturday.   The big change over Wisconsin.   It doesn't last.

Nicky hates this snow.    He keeps looking at me like I should fix it for him.

I just got home from the 6:30PM New Year's Eve Mass, actually in our church, a feast day to Mary.    It is starting to get really cold and windy outside as they promised but I was able to get there and back before the real bad weather starts.

It was a quiet day around here.   Tomorrow will be too though I am invited to Bart and Barb's for dinner.

Think I will have a New Year's glass of wine and then go to bed.

Went to the 8:30AM mass this morning and had coffee and donuts afterwards.
This has been a wonderful weekend.   As I was leaving the coffee at church, my brother. George, called and we had a nice visit.    He is doing OK and sounded strong.

Yesterday, my sister, Dolores, called and today, Eileen and Nora, both called so I have talked to everybody I can.    Jeff and Kathy are in Hawaii with Matthew and family and Randy and Donna are in Boston with Jessica and Phil and unlikely to be calling anybody else.   I wouldn't..

Can't believe that tomorrow is the last day of 2018.   I will be ushering at the 6:30PM Mass.   Good way to end the year/

Today was a whole day at home.     Kerry came and cleaned my house this morning, as her regular day would hve been Christmas.

It was a pleasant day, not too windy or cold, a relief after those 4 inches of rain followed by bitter winds we hac the past two days.    Not much sun but it was pleasant.    Nicky and I took a walk this afternoon.

Hope all is well as we venture into 2019 in only three more days.    Where does the time go.    If you get a friend request from me from Facebook, ignore it.   It has been taken care of with the help of Bobbie.

Jim and Michelle arrived yesterday afternoon.    We went to the 5PM Mass together, which was a real joy for me.   I love having family at church with me.    The we drove to Geronimo to Adam and Alexia's home and a wonderful potluck and Dirty Santa Exchange.   Lots of fun and family.

Today, Bart and Barb and Marlies joined Jim and Michelle and I for a Christmas meal of Green Meatballs and lasagna, (for those who don't like pea soup.)   It was a nice time.   The rest of the day was very quiet.   I did have a nice phone visit with my Bret.

Went to the 8:30AM Mass.   I was an usher so busy during the Mass.

Then I stopped at Walgreens to pick up some bows for my presents.   They looked bare with just wrapping paper and I can't find any bows in my stash.

Did some baking and made the Green Meatballs for Christmas day.   So I was busy most of the day.

Tomorrow I will bake the Figgy Hobbin and wait for Jim and Michelle to arrive, then to Mass followed by a family gathering at Adam and Alexia's house.   They are the best hosts.

Today was a nice day.    A much to quiet day as far as voices.    A friend called me this afternoon which broke up the afternoon

I feel good about today.   I did some wash, I baked and I mixed up the pie crust for the figgy hobbin so I feel that I did something.

Christmas is coming quickly and I will be ready.   Just hafe to make some soup and bake the figgy hobbin.    Easy and comfortable.

Went to church for the Sacrament of Reconciliation tonight, so I am all ready for Christmas:)

Talked to a Wisconsin friend.    We had a nice visit.   They have no snow and none projected between now and Christmas.

Today I attended the last bible study of the year.    This time of the year always sounds so dramatic.    NEXT YEAR       For heavens sake, it is only three weeks.     

We had a great time.  A Couple of people brought threats and one of our members brought presents for everybody.       I like to just bring fresh scones every once in  a while throughout the year.

I mixed up a batch of 6 week bran muffins today so I can fix them on Christmas when I plan on serving split pea soup which ar a natural for the muffins.  Actually, I was going to try something else, but Bart said that Bran Muffins were the proper way to go.    I try not to buck tradition

Just got home from Writer's Club.     There are only five of us but we had some good readings.  I read a couple of my poems from my book Seeking.   We will not be meeting until January 8th.   As we laughed    ---     Next year.

I got all my packages sent finally and am receiving some.   Bobbie's candy and soap arrived.   Yea.

Another busy day.   I went to the post office and got all but one package mailed and most of my Christmas cards.

I had the wrong address for one so will have to go back tomorrow.   I also plan on picking up my Dirty Santa gift for Christmas eve as long as I am out.

I baked my Lizzies (My fruitcake like cookies) today.   I love them.   Almost decided not to bake them and then decided that I was worth it:)

I kept myself busy most of the day and then got invited to Bart and Barb's house for a sumptuous dinner of schnitzel.    They had invited the missionaries over and kindly include me in these feasts.    The missionaries are always an interesting group of young people and I enjoy spending time with them.    AND it is a meal that I don't have to eat alone.

Tomorrow I am going to the post office.   Have six packages to mail.

I had my port flushed today.    They do that once a month to be sure that there is no clotting.   I do not look forward to having to do this for the foreseeable future, but see no choice.

Well,  I did something goof again.    I have the packages all sealed and read to mail and I put in the Christmas card with a Christmas poem that I wrote.    Unfortunately, I grabbed the wrong poem and you have all read it in the Past.    Silly me.

Went to Mass and Bible Study this morning.    We are discussing a book called "Forty Anti Catholic Lies" which is very interesting.    We picked this up to discuss between the parish actual bible studies.   Next week we will still discuss the book, then when we pick up Bible Study on January 9th we will join the parish in the study of Colossians,  letter of St. Paul.   Should be interesting, I haven't been in on any discussions of Paul's letters before.

Spent the rest of the day "sorting" candy to send to my kids.   You are the main people who read this so you know that I made it again this year.    Buckeyes and Fudge.     I plan on mailing the packages on Monday.   Then I am down to just Christmas cards.   By the way, your Christmas Cards will be in your packages.

It was in the mid 50's today and quite pleasant.   We are supposed to get blustery winds tomorrow.   Glad I can stay home.

Well, I see that I have been lazy again.

Last night I was at the Quilt Guild's annual Christmas Party and pot luck.   One of our members graciously opens her lovely home to us each year for this.     We just gather, eat and do a secret Santa gift exchange.   It was fun.   I brought a macaroni salad that I hadn't made in years.   It turned out OK.    The group is so friendly and Barbara is also a member.

Tonight was the Writer's Club.   There were only three of us there tonight so we finished WAY early which is all right with me.   I read a couple of poems.

The weather has been quite calm and I think mild the past couple of days and should continue that way until Thursday when we may get flurries.    No accumulation of snow however, so that will be OK.

It's snowing.    There is close to two inches on the ground.    I looked out the front and my neighbor's son and his girlfriend are in the front yard building a showman.   Glad that they still find that joy in their late teen years:)  :)    Worth a double smile.     The temperatures are hovering around freezing and the snow flakes vary from small to huge.    Putting me in the spirit but I am glad that it probably won't stay long.

Each day, I am working a little bit more on Christmas.   The main thing is to get the packages ready to mail next week or early the following.

Everybody can relax.   I made the buckeyes today.    Every year I think it will be the last because it is so time consuming an putsy but I know how well they are liked.

Went to Mass for the holy day (Feast of the Immaculate Conception) this evening.   I was on usher duty so quite busy.    A nice mass.

Today was the busiest day I have had in a long time.

Mass at 9:00AM at church, before Bible Study at 10:OOAM.  It was a good animated bible study, actually we are on a book study right now.  I brought scones and fudge for a treat.    Went over very well:)

One of our members does meals on wheels and offered me a bag of three meals if I wanted them.   I was delighted.   I will not have to cook for a week and have some variety.   What a kind gesture.   Living alone, I do get careless about cooking sometimes.

Late this afternoon, I took my car to the dealer for maintenance.   They got my tires back to good pressure and the warning light off and checked all the fluids and stuff for winter.   I had one filter replaced and should be good until next summer.   Yea.

My furnace is fixed.  It was batteries in the thermastat;   Who knew they had batteries.:)   Actually our Barbara asked me about that, but I didn't know.

Anyway, will know if it happens again.   He checked everything else out as long as he was here.

It is nice to be warm.    I was sure glad that I had that little electric heater.

Went grocery shopping and made fudge.   I added too much milk to the fudge so don't know how it will turn out.  I tried to compensate.   That should be quite a batch of fudge.

Went to the 8:30 Mass and came right home.   My thermistat "died" during the night and it is cold in my house.    I called American Shield, but they have been unable to get someone to come out on a Sunday.   I remembered that I have a space heater, so when a room gets too cold, I turn on the heater until it takes the chill off.   It is small and I am setting it on a tile so it is very safe.

Should hear first thing in the morning from some vendor that will help me.

Well, except for having to go to the store for milk, I was home all day.   

Did some wash, towels and worked a bit on the desk.

My friend Barbara called and we had a nice visit.    Talked to Bart too I got to have contact with real people, which is always a bonus.    I miss my sweetheart.    It is almost 6 years since his passing and it doesn't get easier.   I know now what my Mom went through with Daddy gone.

We are tough though and I will be just fine.  Don't mean to be a downer.   I was blessed to have him as long as I did:)

It was rather gloomy today, but Nicky and I went for a walk anyway.   There was no wind and he sure is a happy guy when we get out.    I know it is good for me.

I was home again all day.    Managed to keep myself occupied, but it is so quiet around here that it gets really old.    I really miss my guy.    The 18th of December is coming up and I dread it.

Nicky and I have been going for walks again.  The temperatures are great and the wind is down.   He is such a happy guy when we are out there.   I know it is good for me too.

Tomorrow is another day at home.

Busy day.   My cleaning lady came at 9:30AM.   I left for bible study at 10:00.   We had a great discussion of the  book we are studying  "Forty Anit Catholic Lies by Gerald Verschuuren"   Lots to learn.

I had a chiropractor appoijntment with Dr. Toy this afternoon.   I am in good shape there and he told me to be patient as far as the pain in my arms and legs.;

Went to the 8:30AM Mass this morning.    Then I went for coffee and donuts afterwards.  Lots of my friends were there so the day started our really good!!!!!!.

The rest of the day was quiet.   I don't feel bored, so I had plenty to do but nothing noteworthy.

Another day at home.    It was very quiet.

Checked with Randy and Donna in Wisconsin to see how the hunt ended.   They got two nice does in the hunt this year.

I did som reading today which I am trying to get back in to.   I used to read a lot but got out of the habit when Dick was sick.   Am getting better. 

Tomorrow Mass and we will see what comes after that.

I was home ALL day today and even took Nicky for a short walk.   It was, after all, up into the 70s and seemed like a good idea.   He was sure pleased.   Hope this gets me out of my laziness and taking him out more.    After all, I got a doggie to walk me:)

Washed my sheets today and paid all my bills up to date, except for the taxes.   Might as well take advantage of their deadlines.   I know that from the years I was active in finance.

Happy Thanksgiving.   I hope yours was as pleasant as mine was.

I spent the morning wrapping the ornaments that I buy for all my kids and great grandkids.    Next big job will be in a week or tro when I make the candy.      After all, why bother to have Christmas at all without Buckeyes or fudge.    At least that was what I was told.

This afternoon, I picked Bart up and we went to Geronimo for our family Thanksgiving at Adam and Alesia's house.    Adam smoked the turkey and we had enough food that we could have fed all of Geronimo.   All good too.  

Nicky was a happy doggy when I finally got home.     A hungry doggy too.

Nicky had his annual checkup today and updates on all his shots.     Had them trim his nails while they were at it.    He has a slight heart murmur but otherwise is in excellent health.    He is nine years old now.

Just got back from Writer's Club.    Read a poem.   It was well received with good critique.

Made the pie crust for the pumpkin pies today so that I can bake tomorrow.

Can't believe that Thanksgiving is in two days.

I think I told you all that mice invaded my pantry.     I spent today cleaning and spraying with mint oil and setting DCon traps all over.   Never had this trouble when I had a cat but I don't think I want a cat.   More responsibility and Where would I put the litter box.

Spent a nice quiet Sunday.     Went to the 8:30AM Mass tthis morning and had coffee and with my after mass friends.

This evening Barbara had invited me over for her famous Taco Soup.   Her brother is visiting so he and Marlies were there too.    An altogether enjoyable evening.

Bart and Barb are still watching Bart;s friend Scott's dogs so Nicky had plenty to smell when I got home.

I helped Bart take and pick up his dogs from the dog groomer yesterday.   Then yesterday afternoon was the Lawton Celtic Gathering at the Shamrock.     I was quite excited.    There were 9 of us there, including two new people.    My friend Anne Williams, who I met at Bible Study, and her husband Glen joined us. 

I gave pretty much the talk that i gave in Chicago and then we discussed our mutual Celtic ness.  Stories from our youth and history.    We always have a good time.

Today was totally at home.  I got a lot done and will be able to catch up on Sunday and Monday.

I was supposed to be home all day today but ended up going to have my teeth cleaned.   Glad that is done.   I have put it off too long and it is costing me too mush money.     Am I blessed that I can come up with the money?

Tomorrow will be really busy.   Helping Bart take his critters to the groomer, then getting my port flushed, then Celtic Club in the afternoon.    I am telling them about the 12 patron saints or 7 Celtic nations tomorrow.   We have such a great group of people and I gave the talk at IBAM so it will be easy.]

It was cold today, but the wind was stilled and the sun shone so it seemed much warmer than it was, after the past two days of wind and snow.   I know our snow did not stay on the ground, but it is really serious to us:)    The Quilt Guild even cancelled their meeting on Monday night.   Too much for those old people.   I was providing the sweet treat and have lemon scones coming out of my ears in the freezer.

Oh well, breakfast for the next week or so.  I did take a bunch to the Bible Study today and they were welcomed.  

Cranberries are in the store so I will be making my Cranberry/Orange scones when the lemon scones are gone.    Fresh cranberry scones are to DIE for.  I am going to make fresh cranberry relish for the Thanksgiving dinner along with two pumpkin pies.

Went to the dentist today.   Need some work done as it has been almost two years since I went last.   Damn Cancer.

Just got home from Writer's Club.   It was a good meeting.   I read a poem, the first successful one I have written in some time.    They liked it.    You can't read it yet because it will be my Christmas Card.

I spent most of the day storing food.    I had company for dinner on Saturday but two people were unable to come so I had lots leftover.     All stored in the freezer.   I have no reason to go hungry for a LONG LONG TIME.

We had snow this morning.   Nicky was not a happy dog.   He did not go out to do his business until about 11AM.  Boy does he have the ability to hold himself.   He always looks at me as if I caused the problem with the weather.

A quiet day.   I did go shopping TWO times because I needed stuff.   This has never happened before but things are different now that I shop for one.

Talked to Eileen tonight.  Just felt like calling her.  They are all well and we had a great visit.

I took Nicky's fecal sample to the vet this morning because I caught him going.   He is fine.   I will get him his shots in about two weeks and be done with him for a year.

Aside from that, I did a bit of washing and some computer work.

Bart and I left at about 9AM for his checkup on his shoulder.   He had to go to Norman which is near Oklahoma City and about an hour and 3/4 drive.  Got there and they had postponed his appointment a half an hour.   Then there were more delays.

However,   all went well.    The nurse/practitioner was very pleased with is progress, gave him a shot and sent him on his way with instructions to continue working with the shoulder and to come back next month.

We were home by two PM.   Not bad with the drive and delays.    I didn't care as I was just company for Bart.    It is a long drive to take alone.

Been lazy with a doggy on my lap most of the rest of the afternoon.

Went to Mass this morning and then to Bible Study.    I am glad that the elections are over, we are getting a bit political, even in the bible study and I don't like that.  We are going to do a Short book study before the next parish bible study.   It will be an interesting break and help me as I get  back to reading again.

The rest of the day was very quiet.   I am going with Bart to his doctor appointment in Oklahoma City tomorrow.   A nice break for me, not nedcessarily for him.   But I hipe it will be just a checkup.

Just got back from Writer's Club.     We are down to only 5 of us but perhaps some new people  or some old attendees will start coming.    I would surely miss it and it is helping me to get remotivated.

I voted today.    Boy was that a long and complicated ballot.   There was a decent crowd when I went at 10:00AM but no lines which was nice.
I'm glad all the political ads will be over.    Now to get through the results and all that fol der oll.

Well,   it was finally dry enough that David could paint my porch.    Can't do that if it the wood is too wet or if it is going to rain too soon.   We finally hit it just right.    It looks nice.   Now it needs to be left alone for at least two days.


My doorbell shorted out today.   It has been weird for a while, but just blew its mind this afternoon and wouldn't stop buzzing.   So I disconnected it..

Another whole day at home.    Nothing exciting happened.    Perhaps this is a good thing.

Barbara stopped by for just a minute with something I needed but aside from that I did not see or talk to another soul.

Today was a holy day in the Catholic Church.   So I went to Mass.    I was even a usher at the Mass.

The rest of the day was quiet mostly.   Bart stopped by for a visit and my niece Suzi called, so I was not lonely.

This afternoon, I saw Dr. Toy and he adjusted my back and body.    I really needed it after the trip.

Got a welcome call from Brenda and Richard this evening which made my day.

The weekend went very well.    Saw lots of friends, heard lots of dynamic speakers, gave a successful speech myself and attended a very classy awards banquet.

Bible Study this morning.    We finished our planned study of Revelation last week and this week decided to just read Revelation from the beginning to the end.   It was very interesting and flows nicely.    I still do not find Revelation my favorite book of the bible.

It rained ALL day.   So my porch will not be painted for several days again.   What  a pain.   At least the sunroom roof is repaired.

Yea!!!   They came and replaced the roof on my sun room.    I have had leaking for some time and they were finally able to fit me in.    So.   That problem is fixed.   Poor Nicky was just frantic with all the pounding and walking on the ceiling.    I kept trying to reassure him, but how do you explain such a thing to a dog.

Now I just need the front porch painted.

Went to the 8:30AM Mass this morning.    We had a baptism.   It was of a boy that I have been praying for.   He had a rough start in this world but is doing just fine now.

This evening went to Chili's to join the Benoit's for my great granddaughter, Abby's birthday dinner.    An altogether glorious day.

This afternoon, went to Duncan to the Chisholm Trail Heritage center for a history lesson for our Celtic Group in Lawton.   Two of our members get is free ad,ossopm/    It is an absolutely marvelous heritage center.    Go there if you can.

We finished our planned study of Revelations at Bible Study this week.    Next week, we are going to start just reading it through.     It is very poetic, if indeed hard to understand.   Not my favorite book.

Kept myself busy most of the day.    The morning was quiet.    I cleaned the kitchen counters and updated quicken and wrote out some cards.

Then after lunch, I went grocery shopping.   Home again, I rested a while.     Then Nora called and we had a great visit on the phone.   They are well and it is raining there  .    Actually we did NOT have rain today.   I hope it holds off until Friday so that I can get my porch painted and my lawn mowed.

Then Bart stopped by for a visit while out shopping.  I enjoy that so much.   It is so GOOD to have someone in the house to talk to.      Nicky loves it too.

I thought today was supposed to be dry, but when I went to Mass this morning, it was misting and kept that up for most of the morning.

I need things to dry out so that the contractor can paint my front porch.   Also, Dan can't mow until it dries out.

Who would have thought that DRY Oklahoma would be so wet.

I have to wait to have the sunroom leak fixed too.     I'm tired of this.

Aside from that, every other day I feel pretty good.   I guess I am healing.

Today turned out to be twice as busy for me than I expected.   

Went t Bible Study.   We did our discussion of Revelation.  Only one more lesson to go.   I still find Revelation my least popular readings, though they are exciting and poetic.   I love poetry and don't like all  of it either.

My ear has been bothering me so I had a call in to the doctor and saw the nurse practitioner this afternoon.  Nurse Hall discovered that I have fluid in there and has prescribed a cure.

So I am going to follow her instructions and get well.

Just got home from Writer's Club.   We have five enthusiastic members now and we were all there and all read something.    I read my chapter from the saints book on St. Michael the Archangel.

Last night was at Quilt Guild and got home after 9PM tired and ready for bed.   It was a good meeting too.   My friend Judy Haley gave us a lesson on needle turning applique .    I have to finish my little heart and bring it back next Guild meeting.

Tomorrow is Bible Study.   Chapter 6 in Revelation.    Revelation is not my favorite.    I am learning a lot however.

My friends, Robbie and Curtis, invited me to go to Medicine Park for an Indian Flute celebration today.     Vendors and craftsmen all along the streets.   Medicine Park is kind of an Artist;'s community and they do a lot of events like this.   I have been interested but didn't want to go alone.    This was Fun.    Robbie is a good friend who belongs to Holy Family Church and joined my Celtic Group.

One of the vendors gave me a beautiful green jadelike stone wrapped in copper.    A gift.  She put it on a cord so I could wear it.    I was glad that Robbie bought something from her.  I just seldom buy jewelry  because I seldom wear it.

I took Nicky to the vet to have his nails clipped and for a bath.     He has been pretty stinky these past few days.   I am not sure that the bath really helpd but we mus give a day or two for his hair to really dry.

Aside from that I just did some deep cleaning in the pantry.

Boy, have I had a busy week.

I think I told you, my car died.    Bart let me use his car in the interim.   As it turns out, my battery was shot.    Not too bad a repair for a 6 year old car that I really DON'T drive enough.    I have less than 29,000 miles on it.   It may last me my whole life:)

Thursday, I had Writer's Club and Wednesday, Bible study, Dr. Toy and grocery shopping.    I was glad to be home all day today.

Dan and Han mowed my lawn today.    Nicky loves that.   They always take him for a walk.    I always have to watch because he will poop every time and Dan and Han don't get concerned about that so I have to run out with a plastic bag.    But I am so glad for my Nicky.

He still loves his walks.

Just got back from dinner at Bart and Barb's.    Marlies was there too.    I am driving Bart's car.    He can't drive because of his surgery and WOULD YOU BELIEVE, my car is acting up.    It is not starting properly and this morning one of the warning lights showed up.

I will call Lawton Chrysler in the morning.   Sure sick of everything breaking.

It was a good day.

Holy Family had a retreat./training day for our volunteers.    The retreat was after socialization and breakfast in the morning and very well put on.

The training turned out to be a wash as for some reason the Usher's program did not materialize and we waited for about an hour before being sismissed.

Altogether a good day because of the retreat.

Well.   I am back.     Don't know if anyone will even be looking for me anymore.    That's OK.  

FIRST:  my computer stopped connecting to the internet on September 10.   Then I left for Wisconsin for the most wonderful vacation .

My high school reunion at Riverdale where I spend many an evening on dates.   We had a super turnout and I connected with so many old friends.     We haven't changed a bit.

The next day I had lunch with my Celtic friends.   There were a dozen of us at the gathering.   Did I feel special, or what.

Saturday, Richard and Brenda joined Bobbie and Bill and me at the Black Pig.   We then retired to Bobbie and Bills and visited until  Richard and Brenda had to go back home to Madison.

Sunday, met with my brothers and sisters at Shreckers in Sheboygan.   Jeff and Kathy, Dolores and Ken, Eileen and Fred and me and Bobbie.    It was wonderful.

I got to see most of the people I love and miss so much.

When I got home, it took some trying to fix the computer myself before I finally called someone in.   I have been able to keep up with email on the laptop.

So I am back.     I will try t post daily again.   It is a good practice for me.
