Just got back from church and training for ushering.    It was quite informative.   I think I am ready and strong enough to go back to doing it again.

It rained while I was on my way over.   For maybe 5 minutes.   Not enough but at least something.

We need much more rain to make a difference.

It was a nice day today.

Nora called this afternoon and we had such a nice visit.   I remember when I was young, that long distance calls cost a fortune so you only  called people on holidays and in an emergency.    How lovely that we can just pick up the phone and connect with anyone in the good old USA.

I make my reservations for my plane trip to Wisconsin for the reunion in September.   Glad that is done and I will have a car waiting for me.

Bart and Barb took me.  Then since the travel agent is in the Mall,  we did some shopping and ate out at the Mexican restaurant.    I found a nice top to wear for the reunion.

On the way home we stopped at Joanne Fabrics and I picked up some fat quarters for my stash and for the Quild Guild meeting which is on Monday evening.

So a good day with good company.

It was a moderately busy day today.

I went to Mass at 9AM.  And then walked over to the Bible  Study.    There were only about 8 of us there today due to some confusion .

We will not be meeting until September 12th now when Fr. Phil's parish bible study on Revelations .  A long time.   I don't quiet understand these sabbaticals but I am in a different country then Wisconsin.   We met no matter what.   Even if there were only two of us.

Bart stopped by this afternoon.   He is good at that.   Making sure I am OK and we have good visits.   I am truly blessed.

The rest of the day was quiet.   I caught up on some correspondence and managed to eat on leftovers.

Tomorrow I will have the lawn mowed and go to my chiropractor.    Sure hope he can help these acy bones.

Well, all of my problems seem to have corrected themselves.

My toilet started working just fine when the plumber came and turned the water back on and started flushing.

My air conditioner refuses to heat the house when the technician arrives.   I guess it is just a way to laugh at me.   As long as I get to sleep at temperatures below 85 degrees, I don't care.

My air conditioner still doesn't work properly, so the air guy is coming too.   May world is falling apart around me:(

Bart and Barb invited me for supper tonight.  I sure was glad as I needed to be talking to real people.

Got a call from Nora today.   Always a pleasure.

It was much cooler today.   All the way down to the 90s.   Perhaps my air conditioner will work properly now.   I have found out that over 100 degrees confuses our air conditioners they are efficient up to the high 90s   Go figure.

98 Degrees again today.    Again,  at least not triple digits, but it couldn't get any closer.

Last night I went to the Wichita Mountain Quilt Guild meeting.   I had to leave right after the meeting because I felt squishy again.

Saw Dr. Ayte today.   She prescribed some meds to help the rash and the itching.    One of them, I can't pick up until tomorrow(:.    But I have the anti itch pill.    Hope it helps.    It is supposed to make me sleepy too so I can't drive for a day or two.

A day at home AGAIN!    But it was OK.    I got a couple of phone calls.

One from my friend, Peg Payne, from Cascade.    Peg is such a pleasure to talk to - always full of joy and wisdom.    While we were talking, a storm rolled in and we got RAIN here in Lawton.   A nice rain which we have needed so badly.    The temperature is down to 77 degrees and it is still sprinkling.   My lawn is singing with joy.    Only had one kitty show up for supper tonight.    His friend is probably somewhere sheltered and the one who showed up will be really fat tomorrow.    They don't feel the need to share or save anything.

Jeff called too.    He wanted to quickly update me on the Deeley/Cool picnic that was yesterday in the park in Falls.    It was great and I wish I could have been there.    Uncle Jim,  Diana Cool's dad and my Dad's brother and I always got along well.    He was a charming Deeley and a vary smart man.   Diana was there with her children, Jay and Christopher and their families.    Doug and Caroline Deeley (Diana;s half brother and his wife)and my sisters Eileen with Fred and Dolores with Ken and Randy came too.   Family is special.

So the end of a perfect Saturday.    I always like voices in the day.     It just gets too quiet around her.   Nicky never has much to say except "walk me" or "feed me".

Got a haircut today.    I don't know what I was thinking making the appointment for one day after my trip, but it worked out just fine.

The wedding was beautiful.   Jessie and all put a lot into it.    The judge who did the ceremony was full of symbolism and stories.    The bride was beautiful (as she always has been.)   And Phil, of course was a handsome groom.

The dinner was Cuban based, quite interesting.   Phil's mother,, Sandy, made the cake and homemade champagne truffles with the kid's initials on them.   They were what all chocolate should be.

I spent part of the weekend with my niece, Suzi, who I went to England with.   We had a grand time just visiting and her showing me around her territory.

Monday I went to the Bible Study in Sheboygan Falls and then to lunch with several  Celtic Friends.  Spent the night with Joan Kramer and she did the reflexology on my feet so I am set until September.

Home again on Tuesday.   The trip home was easy and uneventful, unlike the trip there on Thursday.   I won't go into that because it was terrible.   Sufficient to say that I was supposed to be in Milwaukee at 6PM and arrived at midnight.

Had the Petscan today.     Should know soon what the results.   Went to Dr. Toy, my chiropractor, and he was able to tell me that the pain in my shoulders was from two wracked up ribs.   At least that has an explanation.   Probably when I had to open the garage door by hand.

This has been a week of problems.

The garage door and ADT problems which all turned out to be a result of a defective breaker.   The electrician replaced that yesterday morning and all seems to be well.

Then this morning, I smelled gas in the back yard.   So I called the gas company.    They came out and found a small leak in the meter which he fixed and checked everything else.    What else can go wrong.

I kittlysat today.    Bart and Barb have adopted the little kitty that I found in my front planter and they went to Oklahoma City today for a doctor appointment.   So I was recruited to watch the little one, who has no name as of yet.    We don't even know what gender he or she is.    Barb feeds him with a kitten formula every two to three hours so I was asked to fill in while they were gone.  It was OK.   Little kittens are adorable and I enjoyed feeding him or her but don't want to be a ?Mother? again.

If I get a cat it will be litter box trained and eating like an adult.    By the way, Fluffy, the cat that was neutered is doing just fine back here in her territory.

Kerry came to clean the house this morning, then Bart came and we cleaned out and planted the planter in front of my home.     Had to clean it out because "Bart and Barb's cats" have been using it for a bathroom.    We then saturated it with bitter apple.    Hopefully that will discourage them from continuing to use it.    I threw some lemon rinds in also.

Then the Air conditioner people came to do the spring check up on my Air conditioner.    It is old but still working just fine.

Tonight I will be at Writer's Club.     So a full day.    Should sleep well tonight.

A very quiet couple of days since I posted.    The weather has been lovely so I put a couple of things into the garden.    Am   going to try herbs again.

My neighbor passed away last fall and his daughter gave me a stature of St. Francis which I put in the middle of the garden today.     I'll try to send a picture when I get the plants in.    I hope I remember how.

Talked to Leslie today.    So good to chat with her.

I spent two hours at the car dealer today because I thought my car was overheating.    As it turned out, everything is just fine and I got home at about 4:30PM.   Nicky was anxious and those cats were waiting for their dinner.

I had my port flushed today too so it was a busy day.

Nicky has been very demanding since I came home:)

I assume you all missed me.   I returned LATE on Tuesday night for a sojourn in Wisconsin.

Had a wonderful time with tons of friends who LIKE me.    I stayed with friends on Thursday night at the Tall Grass Condos and they had a party for me.    So many good friends and memories.

Then Friday I drove back to Milwaukee for the CWI gathering and lots more friends.   Maureen planned a super gathering.   It is a shame more people don't attend to hear the speakers and join in the fun.   That was Friday and Saturday.     Drove my friend Joan back to Howards Grove and stayed with her on Saturday night.

Then Sunday morning I went to church at Blessed Trinity in Falls.    Saw a few friends there then headed to the Black Pig in Sheboygan where Richard and Brenda and Bobbie and Bill joined me for lunch.    A good lunch and visit followed by an extended visit at Bobbie and Bill's house.   I stayed there that night then the next morning went back to Blessed Trinity to enjoy the Bible Study that I actually started 17 years ago.    They are still going strong with some new people.

I spent my last night with my friend Joan again and she did a reflexology treatment on my feet on Tuesday morning before I had to head to the airport to come home.

So you can see that I was a real vagabond.

I am finally all caught up from being away.     Nicky was glad to see me, of course, though he doesn't mind at all being at Bart and Barb's house.   Except for a quick trip to the grocery store, I have been able to be home and get rested.

Hope all is well with all of you.

A busy day.    Mass and Bible Study in the morning and then diner at the Johnston's tonight.

I will probably not be posting in Blogger for the next few days as I will be busy with Celtic meetings and visits with friends.      Am doing fine,   Not to worry.

Today was a beautiful day.   Nicky and I had a nice walk this afternoon.    I am trying to get out for a walk every day now, even when it is windy and chilly.    The weather has been like a see saw.    Sometimes freeze warnings in the morning then temps up in the 70s in the afternoon.    It is supposed to be 90 later this week.  At least I don't have 9 inches or more of snow like they do in Wisconsin.

Not much happening here in Oklahoma.   Just as well as I am going to be going to the Celtic Conference this weekend.

My brother, George, was sick this weekend but is doing much better now.   Thanks for all the prayers and good vibes.

Another warm day but very windy.    Made it feel cooler and did not help the fact that we are on extreme fire watches all over the state.     I understand that there is at least one big fire burning in the northern part of Oklahoma.

I did a bit in my herb garden today.   When I get back from the Celtic Wisconsin visit, I will do my planting and want the garden all ready.   I can't to much at once but can do a little each day.   Nicky likes it when I am out in the backyard.

Well.   I did a lot of errands today.     picking upa things, getting the car gassed up.

Mainly, I saw Dr. Aye today.    You remember her, Bill Smith.   She is my chemo oncologist and you met her.   All is well at this point.    Next month I will have a scan and will consult with both Dr. Aye and Dr. Smith, my radiation oncologist.    But at this point, so far so good.

It was HOT today.   Up in the 90s but the wind kept it tolerable.   Nicky and I took a walk.

Went to Writer's Club last night and read a chapter from my Saints book.   They say they like it but this club does not do much critique.   I like the attendees and we got three new people last night.   Maybe that will spark something.    Wish there was a poetry group or at least some poets in the group.

Today we had our Bible Study after about three weeks of a break.   We are starting a study of the second half of John's Gospel which should be interesting , especially because it is the favorite of our leader, Judy:)

Tomorrow I see my chemo/oncologist, Dr. Aye,.    Hope she is optimistic.   I am curious as to when I get my next PTScan.

I am home.

Spent two nights with Bobbie and Bill and was treated like a queen.   Went to the Sunday service at Grace Episcopal Church with Bobbie on Sunday.

The Wild Game Dinner/Beer Tasting was WILD.   We had 21 people enter the beer tasting.   I am so impressed with us.  This is the 41st annual event and it is just as strong as when it started at Mom and Dad;s for so many years.   Having the winner of the event host the next one is genius.

Our  Denise won this year so we will be back in Manitowoc next year.

More tomorrow.

Spent today just getting ready for my trip to Wisconsin for the Wild Game Dinner.   I can't believe that this event has been going on for 41 years.   That is something amazing.   How many families can claim such an event.     Jeff won the beer tasting last year so the younger generationS will be on the prowl this year.

You definitely won't hear from me tomorrow or Saturday but I promise to check in in Sunday.   It will be very late though.

Just got home from Writer's Club.    I am reading a chapter of my Book of the Irish Patron Saints at each meeting now.   This is getting me to doing something and perhaps will tickle my creative bones soon.

We were down to four of us today.   Hopefully more will show up as Deb is spreading the word.

Happy Easter!!!

Went to the 10AM mass this morning then to Adam and Lexie's home for a family Easter Dinner.   I brought carrot cake and cole slaw.

We ate like kings.

Tim and Amber with Augie, of course, were up from Texas for the day.   It is nice to have children around for Easter.    We even had an Easter egg hunt in the back yard with  Augie,  Jackson and Emma hunting.   Toddlers are fun.

Here it is, the night before Easter.

I was home all day and just did the baking for our Easter dinner at Adam's house in Geronimo tomorrow.   I am braining carrot cake and cole slaw.     Just what Adam and Alexia provide is always a sumptuous feast so when everybody brings something we eat like kings.    George Hiner used to say.   "I wonder what the rich people are eating tonight.'   Definitely not better than our feast.

Just got home from the Holy Thursday services at Holy Family.    They are quite long but we had all the Holy Thursday extras plus 10 people who were confirmed into the faith tonight.   A very lovely ceremony and we were bilingual also.    Divided between English and Spanish.

The rest of the day was quiet except that I got a call from Nora who has received her DNA analysis and found out she has the same as me with different percentages on the ethnic regions.   She is even more British Isles than I am.      We were impressed however that I was listed as definitely related and so are Bret and Bart.

Sunny today but in the 60s.    I kind of like that.   Not too hot, not too cold.

I was home all this cloudy day, until this evening when I went to church for Vespers and the blessing of the sick.
The ceremony is a really long one but well worth it.  All people who want the blessing with the newly blessed holy oils receive it on their foreheads and cheeks.    Bless Fr. Phil, he remembered my surgery and blessed my upper chest also.   I am doubly blessed by his caring soul.

The past four days were very quiet.   Then came today.     It was raining quite heavily when we woke up this morning.   Nicky was not happy with his bathroom at all.

I did my grocery shopping this morning and got my lottery ticket for the week.   Then I washed clothes and sheets and towels.    Almost all caught up with that.

This evening I went to Writer's Club.   There were 5 of us there.   Three of us read.   I am feeling better and am going to read something from my saint book every week.   This will perhaps get my creative flowing again.

Well, I have had two days at home.    Getting a lot done, just little things, but it is satisfying.

Tomorrow I will be home too.  We are still having this very dry arid weather.   Today it was up in the 70s.   The warm weather is to continue, but it looks like we may have some relief from the drought.   We are expecting rain from Sunday on for several days.    Everything is so dry and we are on fire alerts.

Nicky is snoring under the desk, so it must be time to go to bed:)

A sunny day, not too windy, in the 60s.

I got my hair cut this afternoon, after Kerry cleaned the house.   I feel better.   Now If I can just get used to combing and blowing it short again.  At least it is not falling in my eyes anymore.

Drove Bart to the dentist for an appointment.   His shoulder was hurting and he asked if I would mind.   Of course not,   That is one of the reasons I am here, so we can do things for each other.

Tomorrow, home all day - at least at this point.

Boy was it ever windy today.    I actually had to brace myself when I took Nicky for a walk.    Not too cold though,  in the 60s and sunny.

47 years ago, I was in a hospital and gave birth to my son, Bart.    He was the one of my children that I actually saw being born, thanks to strategic mirrors.    It was actually fun in  that delivery room.   Obviously every thing went well.    Happy Birthday to my youngest son.

Hope your week is wonderful.   I hope mine is too.

Happy St. Patrick's Day to ye all.

Just got home from a lovely evening at the Shamrock with Bart, Barb and Marlies.   I had a corned beef dinner.  Reintroduced myself to the owner and he said that they might be able to work something out for the Celtic Club on the third Thursday.   I am hoping that Friday will work for our people, as they open at 11:00AM on Fridays but 4PM the rest  of the weekddays.

Anyway, a lovely evening.   Music and all but surprisingly, not Irish music.

Celtic Club of Lawton met today.    We went to the Shamrock to find them not open.    They have changed their hours.   They now open at 4PM from Monday through Thursday.    Not enough lunch crowd I guess.  So we went to McAllisters' down the street.    There were six of us today.    We decided not to meet next month as I will be gone and Robbi can't come for sure.   The following month, June,  we are going to try to change our meeting day to Friday at 2PM in the third week.   The Shamrock is open on Friday from 11AM and we do like it there.    I now have the number of the owner so can confirm our welcome.

We talked about St. Patrick and lots of other Irish and Scottish things.  Altogether a good meeting.

It was a beautiful day, up in to the 70s and is supposed to remain that way for the next while.   Possible rain on Sunday.    We sure need it.

Another lovely day in the upper 60s with the sun shining.   A bit of a breeze but very pleasant.   We really really need rain though and except for a very small chance on Sunday, no prospects.   Our fire danger is high to extreme so we REALLY need it.

Went to Mass and Bible Study this morning.   We are discussing the upcoming Sunday readings until after Easter.   We only got through the first reading from Jeremiah where it says "I will be their God and they will be my people."     (Always one of my favorite quotes.)   and the Psalm.    We always have too much to say and were talking about the fact that we should be more aware of when people need us.   Not just family and friends either but all of God's children.   The secular world calls it Random Acts of Kindness or Play it Forward.   God came up with it first.

We are not meeting again until after Easter.

I did some grocery shopping and cleaned another window this afternoon.   I am getting close to having the inside of the windows done.    Makes me feel good.   I am DOING something again.   Yea!

A busy day.    Quilt Guild was tonight and I had signed up to bring the savory treat.

SO - I baked a loaf of Irish Brown Bread and cut cheese for a cheese platter.

The meeting was fun.   But the demonstration of binding was confusing to me and went on forever.

Altogether a good day, though it was a bit cooler again.   In the 50s.    Supposed to be cool for a day or two then warm up again.

It was over 80 degrees here in Lawton today.  Things are supposed to drop down into the 50's for several days.   When I watch what is going on in the east AND in the midwest, I will not complain about the 50s.   Even though it will get close to freezing during the nights.

A quiet day again, all day at home.    I did have a nice long talk on the phone with a Celtic Friend, Maureen, from Chicago.    That really made the day.

Did a bit of cleaning and sewing again.    I think I am ready to start a new wall hanging,   my friend gave me some motivation.

Went to Mass and Bible Study this morning.    We were discussing John's story of the Good Shepherd.    Jesus says that the sheep know the shepherd.     It reminded me of a friend telling us that this is indeed true.   Peggy Feider's children raised sheep, lambs, for 4H  at some time.   She said that when they judge the sheep they put them all in the same enclosure but sure enough when the kids call, their sheep come to them.    They know their voices.    What a beautiful analogy.

After Bible Study, I did my grocery shopping.   I had a big winner in the Powerball,   $8.00 so I didn't have to take any money out of my wallet for this week:)

Did some sewing today.   And I enjoyed it.    I have a little mending job to do that I think I will finish tonight.    It is good to be caring about some things anyway.    I even cleaned a shelf in the pantry.

Am home all day tomorrow.   It is supposed to be pleasant. Today was chilly but sunny and not too windy.

Today was my cleaning lady day so I had Kerry here and my home is sparkling again.    Nicky still barks at her.   I don't think he can figure out her function.

Guess what.   Our Adria, my great granddaughter, is the valedictorian of her class this year.    Isn't that wonderful.   She works so hard and it shows.

My niece, Erin and her Jon, had their baby,. They named her, Mary Rosalie.    So happy for them.   Nice to be a great aunt of a newborn    We haven't had a baby around for a while.

I went to Writer's Club tonight.  Haven't been in over 7 months.   Maybe this will inspire me to get off my you know what and actually write something again.   I feel so dry these past months.

I hope you missed me the last couple of days.    I was in Texas.   Went down for my annual Trip to the Dallas Irish Fest with my sister Nora and he husband Leif,  my brother George and his wife Betsy and my nephew Stenn and his wife Bing.

This was our third year of gathering for the Fest so we now have a tradition going.    We all George and Betsy and I arrived on Friday afternoon and we all went out for dinner.   Then the next  day we took the train to the Irish Fest.   Lots of music, vendors and food.   Then back to Nora and Leif's home for A sumptuous meal of Stenn's Shepherd's pie, Bing's  Chinese dumplings, and smoked salmon.   We also had our very first whisky tasting.    George won.

This morning I hopped in the car abut 11AM Ned made it home by about 2PM.  Tired but happy.and A nick quiet week ahead.

Went to the Sacrament of Penance tonight at Holy Family.

Rain this morning, but it had pretty much stopped by the time I headed off to Holy Family for 9AM Mass.   I like going to that Mass before Bible Study and spending a bit of time in the Chapel when they put the monstrance out for Perpetual Adoration for the day.

Bible Study was very lively.   We are studying the Gospel of John.    He, the beloved apostle, is an interesting read and he makes Jesus very easy to understand.  This week we discussed Jesus healing a man who had been paralized for 38 years.   However, he did it on the Sabbath , so the Jews got all upset about that.    People haven't changed much have they?

Tomorrow I will go to OKCity with Bart for his appointment about his shoulder.

Started off pretty cold, in the 30s, this morning but the temps got up to the mid 60's by the time I had to go out at 2PM this afternoon.

I had my check up with Dr. Aye, my chemo oncologist today.   All is well.   I will see her again in May and will have a PTscan 6 months after my treatments ended.   So for now I will just enjoy being cancer free and healing and feeling better every week.  By the way, I weighed 110 pounds today,   I have gained some of the weight I lost back.    If I get to 115 I will be happy.

No doctor appointments until mid April when I see my family doctor, Dr. Aiku.   I don't expect any changes or problems that I am not aware of there.   (Not with all the testing that has been done on me since I saw her last:)

Guess that was my day.

Went to the 8:30AM Mass this morning.   The weather has cleared and though it was rather chilly, it was fine as the sun was shining.

It got up to 62 degrees today.   Nicky and I went for a nice walk.    He is going to think that he needs to walk to poop if we get back into the groove.   But that is OK, except for rainy and sleety days.    As we all know,  Good doggies poop when they are on walks with their owners who pick it up and throw it in the thrash:)   And Nicky IS a good dog.

A busy week and next weekend, I will be going to Dallas for the Dallas Irish Fest.

Went to see Dr. Smith, my radiation oncologist, this afternoon.   She says I am doing well.   I will see her again in May after I have a scan.   I probably won't need a full petscan this time.   That is encouraging.   A lesser scan will show what we need and if there are signs, they can do a petscan at that time.    Anyway, one oncologist down.   I see Dr. Aye on Monday to find out if there are any other preventative therapies to ward off the return of the cancer   I will also get labs and my port flushed.

It rained most of the day today.   At least it has to have really helped the drought situation we have been in.

I did a bit of sewing this morning.   I am working on two projects that are difficult so it is a challenge.

Judy cancelled bible study just in case as the worst is supposed to be just around our study times.  A bunch of older ladies don't need to be out on the streets.

I did my grocery shopping today and a couple of other errands so I can stay home.   I am retired, I could stay home anyway:)
