Barb and I saw Bart yesterday. He is supposed to be coming home on Wednesday and this does seem practical. He is much better and we are all zeroing on on a plan to keep him on track.
Barb and I did a bit of fabric shopping as we got to the area way to early and needed to "waste time". (Fabric shopping is never a waste of time.) I found my cow fabric (Bill Smith perk up). And won a couple of patterns as it turned out that we stumbled on a June Shop Hop. Yee HAA
Barb and I need some perks. Seeing Bart was the big one. He is SO much better. Now we will have to see how the aftercare plan goes. I guess this is where I am supposed to be as this where I am needed most right now.
Love you all

RAIN!!!
Boy did it rain today. I woke up to wet streets and puddles. Poor Nicky was not too thrilled with his bathroom.
Actually he was not able to do his business until the rain died down shortly after noon.
We are supposed to have some more tonight. I am so glad that I own a house that is not in Lawton's flood plain as there is flooding and may be more if we continue to get more rain.
I am going to church tonight for a Pentecost service and social.
Tomorrow, Barb and I are going to go to see Bart.

I know that we did not get over 80 degrees today, but it was still HOT when I took Nicky for a walk this afternoon. Since then, we have rain, welcome rain and the temps are in the 70s. I like that.
I picked up my corrected glasses today and left the second pair for the new lenses. I like the idea of having two pair. You know how I am.
Bobbie, the flowers you sent are still gorgeous.
Heard from Bart. He sounds quite good. Barbara and I will see him on Saturday and then I can let you know more.
Keep up the prayers. They are working.

I can't believe that this is the last day of May. Oklahoma is hot. Not triple digits yet but hot. It also has been rather dry which is good for my joints which are not doing well.
I did not realize how sore I am until some sweet lady offered to put my groceries in the car for me. I must still be walking like the Tin Man. I think there is some relief from the shots in the knees, but there was a delay because of the standing on concrete in the sun the day after for two hours. It will be OK. Tonight I am going to put Sombra on ALL the sore joints just before I crawl in bed. Perhaps that will relax things as it is JUST after I take my pain pill. I DO seem to be sleeping better overall.
I took my sewing machine for maintenance today. There is one old man (TEE HEE he is younger than me) who still maintains older machines. He says my Kenmore Elite is one of the good ones before they started sending everything to China:) Hope so. I do love my machine. It was a special gift from Dick, you know.
Will be going to see Bart with Barbara on Saturday. Things are proceeding. Keep up the prayers and good vibes.

Summer is in Oklahoma but we are still not in to triple didget temperatures. That will come soon enough.
I came home from Petstitting at about 9AM. It is good to be home. Even my home, empty as it is has my memories around me. Barb will be home soon and I let critters out at about 4PM so they would not be frantic when Barb gets there. Actually they will be frantic but because they are so happy to have their MOM back with them. Critters just don't understand.
Tomorrow is busy with things that are happening at home so I will be available if needed in the family world.

My thermometer is registering at 98Degrees and I believe it. Are we not the blessed people to have air conditioned homes?
Barb has gone to Dallas to spend time with Tim, Amber and Augie, so I have taking care of the critters. Nicky always enjoys that. It is an adventure for us all.
It is a holiday weekend, but nothing different for Nicky and me.
I am trying to get rested up and let the shots do their job in my knees.

The heat is starting. It was in the 90s today. But we do have some relief in the next few days.
The past two days were much too complicated. I did have cortisone injected in my knees and am hoping for great things. So far there is some relief, but my knees still DO hurt.
Bart is having some medical issues, so please pray for him and for his Barbara as we work through them. His system is so fragile. I always wish I could do more. Remember, Moms among you, when our kids were hurt or sick and we could kiss and make it better? Doesn't work any more:(
Got my lawn mowed today. And I watered the garden areas. You should see how good my tomato plants and my hydrangea are doing in the front. They get the morning sun and are flourishing. I am so excited. Tomato plants have always been a problem for me. But they are GROWING and getting blossoms. WOW.

It was lovely today. Reasonable temperatures and the famous Oklahoma wind was quiet.
I had medical appointments throughout the day. Not a good day for that as Bart could have used me today.
But I have to remember the council that I always give to people. If you are not healthy yourself you cannot help others. You may for a bit, but you will burn out and then who will help them.
I got to see an Orthopaedic specialist who gave me cortisone shots in my knees. I should have relief in a day or so. It was weird. When he manipulated my left knee it made squishy sounds.
I also had blood tests at CMM Hospital which should tell me what kind of arthritis I have. I have assumed osteo for many years, but things can change.
I hope I can get back to the point where the walks with Nicky in the morning actually make me feel better. He tries so hard to take care of me:)
Well. Tomorrow I am home all day and can work with the meds. I have a lot of AT HOME stuff to do.

Strange day. The temps were in the mid 70s but with the breeze it felt colder.
I was home all day.
Miracle of miracles, I have an appointment on Wednesday with an orthapedic speciaialist in Lawton that I am going to just put my faith in. Two days is better than a month for an appointment. I don't know why this was not available sooner but I am just thanking the Lord that there is a ray of light.
Dad used to say "I went to a doctor "x"number of years ago and there was nothing that could be done for me." Eileen said. " Dad, are you telling me that medical science has stood still for 'x " years?"
Nowa days the problem is getting to SEE the specialists.

Well - it is official. I am now 77 years old. Wow. I remember when I was young (I WAS young once upon a time.) thinking that in the year 2000 I would be 60 which sounded SO old at the time. Look at me now. I still have a lot of things I want to do before my life ends. Some are written down, some in my heart.
It was lovely today. Up into the 80s but nice and dry. This week I am going to be very active in finding a specialist to help with the arthritis/statin pain that has attacked my joints. I am tired of being sore and TIRED.
Lots of birthday ecards today. Also, Vikki, my niece called. She had forgotten that it was my birthday, but could not have picked a better time to call. I needed a VOICE in my ear.
Bart and Barb are taking me out for my birthday on Tuesday. So I get an extended birthday. How lucky am I.

Today was a perfect weather day. Sunshine, temps no more than the mid 80s. Wow.
Of course, people laugh at me, but I have been COLD since I arrived in Oklahoma. Not Wisconsin cold, but damp humid cold. I am waiting for this dry hot weather that they say is normal?
Early this morning, I got FLOWERS.. Bobbie and Bill sent birthday flowers. They are in the living room. I can't describe to you how wonderful my home smells. As the flowers from Mothers Day are still blooming too. I feel so treasured.
I did not have to go anywhere today. Took care of some outside chores as it was so nice and frankly just was lazy. The meds I am taking for the pain really knock me for a loop and I sleep during the day. Managed to stay up this afternoon though.
I hate this dependence!!!!!!
This too shall pass. I am pursuing other ways.

I thought I had it all figured out. How to send pictures that is. The flowers from Richard and Brenda are now fully open and SPECTACULAR. I will keep trying to send the picture which is in my photos but not letting me forward.
Not tonight though.
I was busy today. The Center For Creative Living had a Senior Fair today. I went to it and attended a couple of talks and interacted with the vendors. Totally worth the time. I came home when the ache got too much.
Saw Dr. Toy today. My upper body is holding pretty good. I don't have to go back to him for two weeks unless something odd happens.
Still waiting to hear from Oklahoma arthritis specialists. Barb found an arthritis specialist in Duncan (Much closer) I will be researching that on Monday and calling for help.
Tomorrow - home all day. I have a few outside things to do if it doesn't rain. Looks promising.
I love you all.
Take care of yourselves.

Took Nicky to the vet for his checkup today. He is fine but I DO need to schedule a teeth cleaning for him. He will be very unhappy with me but I know that it is best for him.
The Celtic Club met today. There were only three of us but at least there were three. We discussed out heritage and genealogy and DNA. Fascinating. We all have a desire to learn more.
Storms coming in tonight. At least the rain means that I do not have to water:)
Tomorrow I am going to a Senior Health and Wellness Expo put on by the Center for Creative Living. Perhaps I will find out THERE why it takes so long to get health care in this area. (My next scheduled appointment is June 20:( That is awful especially when you consider that I requested the help two weeks ago!!!)
I am going to send a picture tomorrow. The flowers that Richard and Brenda for Mother's Day are STILL opening. You will be amazed!!!!!

I got a birthday card today from my Bible Study Buddies. One of them EVEN made it so I treasure it even more. We are rather short on numbers at bible study right now. There wer 8 of us an we have as many as 20. People are gone on vacations, some ar other committed and so on.
As I was unable to come last week, - Stuff happens.
We had a grand discussion anyway about Phillip bringing the word to the Samaritans.
A big thing in that time. Reminding us that we have no right to judge others and their worthiness to be followers of our Lord.
Did some grocery shopping too. I need to make blueberry scones in the morning to take to the Celtic/Irish meeting. Nicky has a "doctor" appointment tomorrow morning too. I haven't told him. Why upset him? Actually he seems to do just fine there. He needs a nail cutting too. Must remember to ask for that.
Still no word from doctors. I called to ask but did not get an answer today. Now I have lost faith in the gal that seemed to be actually doing something. At his point. The first opening for shots in the knees to alleviate the pain is June 21!!!!!!! I have NOT heard from the arthritis specialist in Oklahoma City. It has been 10 days. Probably I will have to wait for weeks for THAT appointment if I ever get it. I am going to call Humana on Friday to see if they have any suggestions. I am exhausted.
A glass of wine later, I feel better than I did earlier. I WILL not become dependent on WINE. Though, Dick would probably say - If it helps use it.

It was cooler today, but not cold. Cloudy too. I did water some of the front yard. The Writer's Club people are concerned about a possible storm tonight so the meeting has been cancelled.
Therefore, I am home all day again. Not a bad thing as I was concerned about walking those stairs to the meeting. There is an elevator but I hate to give in too much. Still have not heard from the Medical services about an appointment with an arthritis specialist. Oklahoma seems to be really bad with communication and setting appointments. Tomorrow I will call again. This is just so foreign to me. We had to wait for appointments but did not have to wait to MAKE appointments and then have the same wait for the actual appointment. (Does that make ANY sense.) And the pain just keeps rolling on.
I am preparing for my Thursday Celtic meeting. Should be fun as we are sharing where in Ireland, our ancestors came from. I am also going to share the Ancestry DNA reports that I have for me and Bret and Bart. I MUST get back to my genealogy!!!
Tomorrow Bible Study. It will be good to be with my prayer support group. We will be discussing next Sunday's readings. I love that as it always makes Mass more pertinent as one checks to see if we "agree with Father" on the interpretation:)
Kerry came and cleaned the house today.
Hope all is well with all those I love.

I liked today.
It was hot. In the 90s. Actually, my joints felt better today than yesterday so I have no complaints.
We have some storms in the forecast so I guess I should not get too comfortable:)
Nicky was not happy with me today. I gave him a bath. He seemed a bit stinky to me so I thought it was a good idea as he is seeing his vet on Thursday. He was a bit surprised but is really cooperative and tolerated his owner's odd behavior.
I am the luckiest Mom in the world. I got to celebrate for THREE days. Flowers on Saturday, Card and dinner on Sunday, Cards and a gift of a special picture of my Bret and his Janet to complete my picture gallery. I am the happiest Mom in the world.
Of course, that is because I have the best children in the WHOLE world.

Just got home from dinner with Bart and Barb and Marlies. A pleasant evening and I always enjoy eating with other people.
Went to the 8:30AM Mass this morning. My joints hurt so bad I had to leave right after communion. If I don't have an appointment with an arthritis specialist by Wednesday, I am going to start yelling!
Bret called this afternoon. He and Janet and their household are all well and happy.
Tomorrow I stay home ALL day. It should be a bit cooler, I can survey and take care of my little gardens.

Here it is Saturday and I have not posted for a couple of days. Barb is on a quilt retreat. I told her to sew herself silly:) She certainly needed a break.
Last night I slept over at their house. The night before Bart had nightmares and didn't sleep well, so we decided that I would be there last night and tonight, just in case he does wake up and needs someone in the house. He slept well last night, he said.
I came home this morning and spent the day doing things here. After I feed Nicky at 4PM. we will go over to Bart's and be there til morning. Barb will be home tomorrow afternoon. Bart and I have done just fine. It is nice for me to have my main meals with someone. I eat better and so does he. We had meatloaf and baked potato last night and will have Green Meatballs and muffins tonight. He probable is not eating as good as he should the rest of the day but assures me he is eating something.
We also went out to stores and to do errands a couple of times. It is GOOD for him to get out of the house.
Mother's Day flowers just arrived at my door from Richard and Brenda!!! They are gorgeous and brightening up my dining area.

A totally unique Wednesday.
The funeral for my neighbor, Mary Wilson, was this morning. I went to the service, which was at 9:30AM so did not got to bible study today. It is far more important to be with people in need, and losing a loved one is one of the big ones. The service was lovely. I just got to know Mary in the past month or two and am happy for this joy. I was able to help at the meal by bringing over ice, when they were talking about going out to buy some. She was a beautiful lady.
I had a yearly eye exam today. They did a good job. I need an increase in my right eye. which I had noticed was a bit weak. They also took pictures of the macular of the back of my eye so we have a gauge if something happens. This is a fear of mine since Mother had that. I will also take vitamins to help ward off the disease. There is no cure or real prevention, but supplements can help delay problems.
We are supposed to get some thunderstorms tonight. I will have to water if we don't. Want to keep the grass green.
My tomato plants are dead. I will buy two more this weekend:)

Two busy evenings and busy days.
Yesterday was the Quilt Guild pot luck. Barb and I went together. I brought the food as she was busy all day and I was debating between hamburger noodle casserole or fresh fruit salad. So I brought both. We had a great program too. Two ladies with their Trunk show. They are dyers also and do a lot of fabric coloring if they think it needs it. Very inventive. They are doing a dying class on Saturday, but I just don't feel up to it with my joints they way theyache.
Today, I had my car serviced this morning. Then baked some scones for Ron Wilson and family across the street. His wife, Mary, died on Saturday. I took them some fruit salad too. The funeral is tomorrow at 9:30AM and I will be going.
Tonight was Writer's Club. There were five of us there. Would be nice to get more people. Some have moved. It was a good meeting. I read my St. Michael chapter from the Celtic Saint book.

Turned out to be a lovely day. We are finally getting some of the warmer weather I was promised when I moved to Oklahoma. It was in the upper 80s today. I DID plant the herbs I bought last week. Figured I had better get them in the ground before they died of neglect.
Went to the 8:30AM Mass. Was on as Usher so was a participant in the service. I like that. Went to the social after mass to visit a bit.
Bart and Barb invited me over or dinner tonight. We had cauliflower steaks and shrimp with cheesecake for dessert. The cauliflower steaks were a recipe that Barb has been dying to try and they were WONDERFUL. It is so much more pleasant to eat with others.
When I got home, I received a call from Richard and Brenda so caught up with them. I feel complete. It had looked like a long lonely day early on and turned out to be perfect!!!!!

Watching the Derby.
When I was a little girl, I always wanted a horse, and probably knew more then about the Derby and horses than I do now!!!
It is still exciting and I am anxiously waiting for those historic two minutes. Don't know who to choose. Patches, the underhorse? Irish War Cry, On general principles?. Girvin, with the oldest Jockey? I have been doing a BIT of research since I decided to watch it.
Today was hot in Lawton, Not as hot as it WILL be but hot. I planted a few things and prepared to do more tomorrow and Monday. My knees are SO sore that I just do a little at a time.
I have signed back on to Facebook. So if you get a friend request, it is OK.
Well, they are getting ready to start the race. I feel that I am watching with someone because I am talking to you. That shows how much I miss a voice. Nicky is totally bored with the whole thing:)
Always Dreaming - with a 2 horse lead. WOW. What an exciting race. Thanks to all of you for experiencing it with me!!!

It was a beautiful day in Lawton. Warm but not hot. The wind was gentle and there was not a lot of humidity. Can we clone this?
I saw Dr. Toy today. He has me nicely adjusted. Now if we can get those statins out of my system and we get some dry weather, I might start feeling human again.
I have messages in to my Doctor to try a specialist and to perhaps try some shots in the affected areas. I am not impressed with the communication between the Comanche Medical Unit and their patients. This is at least twice that I called in the early morning and did not hear back by the end of the day. Very bad. I would, of course, if needed go to emergency, but why do my medical practitioners not communicate. I never had this problem with the Aurora System in Sheboygan WI.
At least I got SOME response.
I will have to wait until Monday now. Hope things at least maintain. I can take the pain but am SO very tired.

Posting early today. I was home all day. So nothing too exciting happened around here.
I have been trying to refine and firm up my banking and quicken relationship, which used to be SO easy.
I got a lovely note from American Airlines today with an apology for the trip from hell. They also gave me a gift certificate towards future travel. I am just glad that they listened to me:)
My joints have been very sore. There do not seem to be storm warnings so I am confused. I am hoping that after the month required to get the statins out of my system that things will ease up a bit. I am sick of walking like a penguin or the Tin Man:)
Besides it wears a person out.
If it is nice tomorrow, I will plant a few of my herbs. I am also going to try to plant some seeds that will be good for the bees that I got in one of my mailings. Can't hurt./
I am actually pleased with how the plants that I have in the sunroom are doing to well. Dad would be proud. I haven't killed anything since I have been here:)

Just got back from Writer's Club. First one I was able to attend in three weeks. I am SO glad I was able to go tonight as this will be Darcian's last meeting regularly as they are moving. So sad. It was rather long tonight as we reviewed Katherine's synopsis for her to send with her query letter for her book. So It was after 9PM when I pulled in.
Leslie helped me set up Facebook again this afternoon. So far I have two friends, Leslie and Barbara, (if she accepts my request:) I figure that Thursday, I will expand a bit but I am going to be very selective.
It was in the 80s this afternoon but is supposed to be 20 degrees cooler tomorrow. Go figure. I am just waiting for the damp humid weather to turn dry.

It was COLD when Nicky and I got up this morning. But the temperatures got up into the high 70s before the afternoon ended.
Dan and his wife, came to mow my lawn this afternoon. He also cut down a broken branch from one of the trees in the back yard. Whew.
I was busy most of the day, couldn't really tell you what I was doing, but do feel like I accomplished a few things.
Leslie is going to help me reconnect on Facebook tomorrow, so FRIENDS only look for me.

Well, we finally got our rain. It was quite a storm last night, but at least we did not get the hail that was a strong possibility
Poor Nicky. I took him out for his morning walk, as it was not raining. BUT the wind was sweeping ore the plains so wildly, that he got frightened and wanted to come back home. So I took him out shortly before lunch time, when it was quiet and the wind was down. He still thinks he has to "be good" on our walks. So I can't event let him out in the back yard. Probably - in time, but this has not become a problem as I like him to walk me:) Anyway, the storm was not too bad here in Lawton and I actually welcomed the rain.
Aside from that, I was totally lazy today. Just tried to ward off the pain. I decided that , as Dick would say, I am retired, that is what I do. I would spend the day trying different ways to keep my joints active and "fluid".
Tomorrow night will be nice, I am having Bart, Barb and Marlies over for a lasagna dinner. Yippee. Someone to eat with and I get to be HOST!!! You know how much I love that!!!
As I get to know more people, I will be able to do more of this:)
A mildly busy week ahead. I will be talking to my doctor about the continuing pain. It will all work out. I know.

It was a nice warm day in Lawton OK. I understand from Bart and Barb that this is still way below the temps that are usually expected at this time of year.
Tomorrow and the next day will be in the 50s again. I moved here to get warm!!!!!! AND more importantly to be near Bart and Barb.
We are supposed to have storms tonight with strong possibility of hail. Bart and Barb came over to put Bart's car in my garage just in case. They don't have room for both in their garage.
I got a haircut this afternoon and picked up some plants on my way home. Then, I saw Dr. Toy this afternoon. My upper self is in great shape. Good thing. Hopefully in a week or so the statins will be out of my body and my joint pain will subside. I am so tired of being in pain.
I keep reminding my self that Jesus said. "I never said it would be easy, I just said it would be worth it." I am holding him to that:)

I was home ALL day today. I can't tell you how much that meant to me. I like having things to do but things here are not always super fun yet. Anyway. I slept ten minutes late (Nicky was not happy) and did NOT take a shower. Tee Hee.
Today is St. Maughold's Feast Day. He is the patron saint of the Isle of Man. I sent Happy St. Maughold Day greetings to all my Celtic Friends and now you are also getting them. He is a fun saint. Great Celtic Stories of his life which I have in my book if I ever get it published:)
Nicky and I went for three really nice walks. Good thing because I need to keep my joints mobile.
I heard from several friends which always makes me feel connected.
I have invite Bart and Barb over for dinner over the weekend, their choice, as I have a lasagna in the freezer AND a dessert.
I wish I could have gotten to Milwaukee this weekend for the CWI Gathering and Annual Meeting. I am just not physically up to it after the trip from hell at the beginning of the month. The Trip from Hell was really only the one TRAVEL day bur really knocked the tar out of me. So glad that the rest of the trip was good. Would have been better with less pain.
I hope my friends will keep me informed and we will be able to move from her. We need to get new membership and interest. Want to be more Celtic informed? Let me know.

Last night I had the fun of going to Geronimo to hear my step great granddaughter, Adria, [play in her first band concert. She is in fifth grade and joined the band this year and is playing clarinet. It was a wonderful concert. Barbara, Marlies and I joined Adria's parents, Adam, Alexia and her sister Abby to year the concert.
Today was Mass at 9AM and Bible Study at 10AM. A full morning.
Tomorrow I will be home all day for the first time in I can't remember when. Nicky will be a happy puppy.

It was a beautiful day in Lawton. Chili this morning, but nice for Nicky and my walk. The wind came up later and it got much warmer. It ended up in the upper 70s, quite pleasant.
I had an appointment with my primary physician today. I went there with all the complaints that I have that I believe are a result of the statin that was prescribed for me. She was very receptive. As I told her, I stopped taking the statin last Wednesday and already have relief from the muscle pain. I believe that I will be able to work with her and Dr. Toy, my chiropractor for the best way to alleviate the joint pain. Dr. Aiku gave me a prescription for a pain pill. I am to call her in 10 days to see if it has been effective before she extends it and I will see her in six weeks. I will see Dr. Toy on Friday so will keep him in the loop. I just need to control the pain.
Bart stopped by this evening. They have closed the transfer of their home in Geronimo to Barb's son. Yippee something done. Good for all.
I have been working on a summary of my Travel Day from Hell and plan on sending it to Travelocity, American Airlines and Thrifty Car Rental. Probably will not mean anything to anybody but will make me feel like I have "roared".,

A lovely day in Lawton. We started out rather cold in the low 4os. Which is really ok for walking. It warmed up to 78 during the day. My house, a brick house, does seem to stay pretty stable. Good thing because when it comes to sleeping I have to be in 70 or below. And I mean period......
I went to the 8:30 AM Mass. Got there and found out that they needed an usher so I said I would. I can't understand why people would volunteer and then not show up. Does the Mass mean so little to them. Ushering is an easy ministry because I am at Mass anyway. Duh!!!
Called Richard and Brenda tonight. They are fine. Tried to call Jim an Michelle but they did not answer. We are so scattered, my children and me.
I am still mulling over a possible gathering for US. A place and time where we can all just get together and BE. And catch up. Our love is worth that. Any suggestions as to a date. I will make the arrangements here in Lawton which seems to be somewhere int the center.
I miss you all.

We kept getting threats of storms and hail off and on all day, but nothing materialized.
I was home most of the day. Had an appointment with Dr. Toy at 3:30PM. He is keeping my back and neck together. I hope that after I see Dr. Aiku on Monday, we will be able to come up with a joint program to help alleviate the pain in my joints. I have only been off the statins for two day and already I can feel SOME relief in my muscles. Dr. Toy says that it takes a full month for all the drug to be out of one's system. Then he has some suggestions which are natural.
I mixed up and baked some bran muffins for dinner tonight. Bart came over and had split pea soup and muffins for supper with me. Barb was going out for dinner with friends. We were both tired, so called it an evening early.
They are going to a garden shop to morrow and will pick me up so I can buy my plants too. Yea. I hate doing that alone.

A lovely day
A lovely day in every way. We were offered rain etc, but it was a sunny balmy day in Lawton.
Had a wonderful meeting of the Lawton Celtic Group. We spoke of the 191 6 Easter Rising and then went on to local and personal subjects. We have decided that we will pursue our roots, next meeting. We will bring our genealogy and our dna results. Does that sound like fun - or WHAT!!!

A gorgeous day in Oklahoma.
I got my lawn mowed this afternoon. It is so nice and green.
Went to Bible study this morning. We had an animated discussion about the "Lamb of God". This is an interesting book on the Eucharist. All the studies seem to have their own fun.
Tomorrow, the Lawton CWI meets. I hope we have a good group.

Fog was a big deal throughout the area but not in our neighborhood. Nicky and I had a lovely morning walk. Ran into Bev from down the street and her doggie, Sir William. He is a Chihuahua.
Kerry came at 10AM to clean the house. Nice to have that done. I went to the bank and the grocery store this afternoon. I also dropped a nutrition survey off for Dr. Toy. He is going to try to help with the pain. I also have a whole list for Dr. Aiku on Monday. I am thinking the statin might be causing the increase. I read up on side effects and before them it was just my joints, not my muscles that hurt. I'd rather have high cholesterol and work on diet than live in constant pain.
Writer's club was cancelled because most were unable to attend, so I took a whirlpool bath and will go to bed with cool packs to see if I can sleep.

Woke up to cloudy skies and off and on rain.
We were spared the hail and severe storms that were predicted. I am so glad since my car had to be left out in the driveway last night.
Today, the garage door person, Brent, arrived at about 11:30AM. He had an accident on the way here so I admire his determination to take care of his clients (especially me).
He did a great job as far as I can see. He has me working again with some safety features that I did not have before. As Dick used to say. He was so grateful for these people who know how to FIX things.
Saw Dr. Toy, my chiropractor, this afternoon. We are going to work on things to help relive the pain that I am experiencing. I am so glad that he understands and he feels that I can bring his suggestions to my GP on Monday when I see her. So he must have worked with her before.
I seem to be caught up on everything that was ignored while I was gone so am feeling quite free. I need to write something for tomorrow night's Writer's Club meeting. I have a rough draft but don't know if I can get it done in time. So a poem might make the meeting:)

A lovely Easter day. We were and are supposed to get rain but as time passes it looks like it might miss us after all.
Bart and Barb had Marlies and me over for a delicious ham dinner with fresh asparagus and sweet potatoes and peach cobbler for dessert. Nice to be with family on this feast day.
Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to get my garage door fixed. The guy promised to call in the morning and I can be available all day except for my appointment with Dr. Toy which is close by and very short. I aill be so GLAD to get that taken care of.
Got home after 11PM from the Easter Vigil service last night. It is a really special service but SO long. We had several new people join the church.
So a new week dawns. Nicky is a happy guy to have me home.

Didn't get home from the Good Friday Service until after 9PM and was too tired to post. This is the first parish I have ever been in that does not have the service from noon to three. I guess it makes more sense for attendance these days.
I am posting early today because the Vigil service tonight starts even later and I KNOW I will just crash again.
Nothing much happening. I can't believe how much I have to catch up on after a week away. I am supposed to be RETIRED for heaven's sake.
Getting there though. I was hungry for Green Meatballs so made a batch today. I haven't been hungry lately so figured if something sounded good, I better make it. I also made hot cross buns for tomorrow. I have been invited over to Bart and Barb's for dinner.
My garage door broke. And I mean BROKE. It is covered under American Shield, but with the weekend and it being Easter weekend, no one has been able to come out. My garage door is stuck two thirds open. So. I lock the house and be SURE to set the alarm at night. I am praying for honest people not to invade my garage. It is a pretty safe neighborhood but having the door open is not good. We can't get it closed, it is that bad.
Pray for me.

Tomorrow we will celebrate again with a true birthday party at Bart and Barb's house.
I am exhausted so am calling it a day.

It would have been a totally alone day, except that Barb stopped by to drop something off and pick something up. Always good to have a body in the house and a visit.
This week is her mother's 80th Birthday. Tomorrow and Wednesday will b e celebrations. Barb's brothers are in town.
I DID get a lot ready for the trip. AND it was a lovely day. Nicky and I had three really nice walks.

Was a chilly day here in Oklahoma.
I went to the 8:30AM Mass and then had social time with my friends. I was usher today so feel that I have served the Lord. I like ushering. We greet people when they come and then keep order during the Mass itself. I like the greeting most of all. You who know me are not surprised at that.
The rest of the day was too quiet. Bart called this afternoon and I will not have to be preparing meals for myself on Tuesday OR Wednesday. Nice as I leave on Thursday and my kitchen can be clean.
There will be celebrations for Marlies, Barb's Mom's, 80the birthday. Should be fun and then I will go right into the Wisconsin Wild Game dinner mode:)

April Fools Day to you all. I just got lazy the last two nights. Nothing exciting happened anyway.
We are having storms again today but nothing with the intensity of those the other day. Lots of thunder and quite a bit or rain.
Yesterday, the Tree people came and trimmed my Lacebark Elms and the other needed trimming and stump removal that my back yard needed. Now I just need to fill in a couple of holes with soil and then maintain. It looks to neat back there.
There is a BIG white cat hanging around my house along with the big yellow one. They like to hide under the front porch and drive Nicky crazy.
Talked to Tim Doherty, they guy who bought my condo in Tall Grass, today. He still loves it and I probably will get to see him when I am home. Less than a week now. I can hardly wait. I am gathering up the things I need to take with me.

We did have a big storm last night. 5 inches here in Lawton. There was a bit of hail but it was small so did no damage. No tornado warnings, but some areas had flash flood warnings.
Because my yard and trees are so wet, my tree pruner has put off the pruning until either Saturday or Monday depending on the weather, of course.
Went to Mass and Bible Study. this morning, then Bart and I went to lunch and to the car dealer to have a factory fix on Barb's car.
Had an appointment with Dr. Toy today and I must say, I am feeling much better. Now that I have added MSM back into my supplements and he has me adjusted it is making such a difference. The bad storm was not even too uncomfortable:)
Can't believe that I will be in Wisconsin a week from tomorrow

We are under severe storm warnings. So far just a small smattering of rain. They are saying possible tornado and/or hail. Everything is moving north and east. Hopefully our Wichita Mountains will shield us from tornadoes one more time:)
Tomorrow the tree service people are coming to prune my trees and clean up the rest of the yard. So I had three different services come to mark where their wires, pipes and conduits are. Nicky has been frantic. We don't usually get that many visitors.
None of them had to come in the house, which was almost harder on him. Especially when he noticed one of them IN the back yard:)
Tomorrow is going to be a run run run run day. Why does everything have to happen at once?

It was a lovely sunny day in the upper 70s. I understand we have a chance of severe weather again starting tomorrow. They keep predicting rain, but it always seems to miss Lawton. We could really use some too, not the hail and bad winds though.
I saw Dr. Toy today. He says I am almost back where I should be spine and hip wise. Good thing as I don't delight in traveling with my joints so sore. This unsettled weather is certainly contributing too.
I got a bid on pruning my three BIG elm trees in the back yard. They have not been done for years. It will be expensive, but he is also removing the stumps from the two trees that were cut down before I moved in and generally policing the perimeter. After he is done, I should just need maintenance every couple of years or so. This is making Wednesday a whirl of activity as Bart wants me to go with him to get his car serviced.

Went to the 8:30AM Mass this morning, as usual. For once I did not have to usher. I love to do my share but sometimes I come in on a day"off" planning on praying and find that someone did not show up. Wouldn't like to be in their shoes when they reach the gates of heaven:) :)
After mass visited with Pam and Robbie and a couple of others at the social. Good thing. Did not hear from another soul today. I did call Aunt Kathleen and we are meeting for lunch while I am in Wisconsin. She is a special lady. AND I am proud to say, My Godmother.
Only a week and a half until I am in Wisconsin. I look forward to seeing people and places I left behind. It is hard to relocate. I have done it before, so don't think that I am complaining. It is just that after one becomes settled, one forgets the "growing pains."

Yesterday was pleasantly warm. Nicky and I went for three walks. It was a quiet day. The only time I left the neighborhood was to see Dr. Toy. He wants to see me again Monday to be sure that I am "holding" as he says. I am definitely much improved but wish these stupid dull headaches would stop. (Arthritis too).
Today was quiet too. It was chilly in the morning - low 40s. Not too much of a wind so it was tolerable. It did get up into the 80s this afternoon.
Barbara stopped by early in the afternoon to help me replace my garage outdoor lights. They are on a timer. I like having that light when I walk me Nick in the evenings.
I worked on quilting a bit and otherwise just rested.
Talked to Bill Smith tonight. Leslie was working on something so we had a grand visit. Wish they could be in Wisconsin for the lunch on April 9th too. We must plan SOMETHING for an annual or biannual reunion for all of us. I'll keep thinking on that. Suggestions welcome.

We had WIND today and there was a fire several blocks away past Bart and Barb's in some field over there. I am sure they had fun putting it out and the smoke was quite obvious even in the house.
I was home except for going to the dentist to get fitted for a gadget to keep me from grinding my teeth. We are trying to save my caps and my future caps.
Worked on a quilt and just spent the rest of the day lazing around. I was so busy early in the week that it was nice. Tomorrow I see Dr. Toy again. I do feel better and will see how tonight goes with the melatonin pills helping me out. Last night was better but still not great.
Only two weeks til Wisconsin.

Well, after a week off, we had our Bible Study this morning. A full room and a robust discussion. I did to to the mass which is an hour before the study. Just seems like a good idea.
I had such a miserable night last night. Was glad I had an appointment with Dr. Toy. He says my bones are better but still not right and suggested that I take an herbal melatonin blend to try to help me to sleep. I will see how that goes. Will see him on Friday after two nights of trying.
Did my grocery shopping today too and got my lottery ticket. I had the powerball last week (Whop de do) so it is "free" this week AND next week as there was a 3 X the $4 payout.
Two weeks from tomorrow I will be leaving for Wisconsin. I am so looking forward to that.

A reasonably quiet day and it is hot. My thermometer says 89 but they say it was warmer.
I was very sore today and grateful for my appointment with my chiropractor. He is going to see me again on Wednesday as he thinks he knows what is happening and we are trying to correct the problem. I sure hope he can as I am sick of being sore.
I am sure I would be more ambitious also:)
Sorry to be such a complainer. Two and a half weeks until Wisconsin. I am sure that trip will help to invigorate me.

Today was Bart's 46th birthday. I find it hard to believe that it has been 46 years since I watched that little baby come into this world. They had Marlies and myself over for lobster dinner and I made Chocolate Mousse, per Bart's request, for dessert.
A lovely evening.
Went to church this morning and the social afterwards so it was altogether a nice day.
I am working on my trip to Wisconsin a little at a time. It is less than three weeks now. Wow.

Was home all day. It was in the mid 80s or higher all afternoon. Still 80 at 7PM. Monday we are supposed to break 90.
Tomorrow is Bart's Birthday. I have been asked to bring Chocolate Mousse. One of his memory foods. It is a good one, haven't had it myself in years.
Talked to Bret today. He had called on Thursday but had to cut me off as Janet needed him. Her mom was in an accident. She is just fine, so WHEW. He and his buddies had a nice St. Patrick's Day. He made the Green Meatballs on Thursday and then Corned Beef and Cabbage on Friday. That's my Boy!!!

This was a great St. Patrick's Day. Started out rather slow and alone. I sent e cards to everyone that I could think of and have received many responses. Also some pictures of the Plymouth events. I wish I could have been there.
Then Tonight, I had invited my neighbor, Jarrod over for Irish Coffee. I made bangers and mash. I also served cheese and crackers and Irish Soda Bread. We listened to Irish music (Blarney to be specific) and just talked. He is a good neighbor and is of Scot/Irish descent and proud of it so we get along really good. He is also a hunter and occasionally gives me wild game which I greatly appreciate. Altogether a lovely evening.
Tomorrow will be very quiet it seems, then Bart's birthday.

A red letter day!!! The Lawton Celtic Club met this afternoon. There were 7 of us there. All but one of our regulars and a new person who is even interested in CWI!!!.
Patti, one of our members, gave the talk on the Irish in Oklahoma that she had planned for January and February, then ended up too sick to come. The talk was way way worth waiting for. Lots of history and names to research. What a history it is, the immigrants from Ireland and England came in waves, starting in the 1700's. The reasons varied from land, mining (work), freedom and the famine. Wonderful talk. I am so pleased with our members. We are not many but we are mighty.\
I had baked a loaf of Irish Soda Bread with raisins (Spotted Dick) for the meeting and it was well received.
This MAY be my St. Patrick's day. I am hoping to share an Irish Coffee with my neighbor Jarrod, but it will depend on if I see him. I may just call to remind him. I have heard of NO celebrations in or around Lawton. Except that the Animal Shelter has free adoptions tomorrow in honor of St. Patrick's Day. I am not ready for a cat yet - I do say yet. One can think about getting an animal but once you have them, they are yours for life. So. I'll keep thinking:)

It was only 29 degrees when I got up again. Still better than Wisconsin but making my bones very cold and my joints sore. It did get up into the 60s and we had sun so this afternoon is much better. We are supposed to hit the 80s again on Sunday and Monday. Sure wish we would get this dry warm weather I was promised:)
Home all day. Nice as I have been so busy though yesterday, as I said, was going to meetings that didn't come to fruition. Wonder if it that an Oklahoma thing?
I baked a loaf of Irish Soda Bread for the Celtic Club meeting tomorrow. I know that at least Robbi and I will be there. Haven't heard that the others are NOT coming so I have hope at this point. The last two months have been disappointing, but it IS winter and perhaps spring and summer will invigorate us.
Got a call this afternoon from my friend, Barb Litersky Sadler. We had such a good visit but she had not so good news. She is being treated for cancer so pray for my friend.

Well, this was a dumb day.
I had an appointment for a haircut at 1:30PM. When I got there, Kandi was not there. She left a message that she had tried to call, but for some reason I did not get the call. Anyway, her grandmother's funeral was today.
So I went home. I was busy with my usual stuff until I drove over for writer's club. Becky was sitting in the lot. I had heard from Darian that she was not going to be able to come but had not heard that the meeting was cancelled. We waited bit, then went on home. The building was locked because it was spring break. I think we need better communication.
Tomorrow I will be home all day as Bible Study is cancelled because so many of our members were committed to something else.
I will be baking Irish Soda Bread:)

Just got back from Quilt Guild. Donna Klein gave the program on making labels for quilts. She had SO many ideas both simple and somewhat more complicated. We learned that the most important thing is to LABEL>
I also saw Dr. Toy today. He REALLY had some adjusting to do. Don't know how I got so out of wack but hope this will help.

A very quiet Sunday. Daylight savings started during the night but I got to the 8:30AM mass on time.
A nice mass, we had a priest doing a sermon for a special collection - for the poor. He was quite the preacher. Then I went to the hall for coffee and snacks. Not too many people there today. But that is OK at least I got to talk to somebody.
I worked on the quilt for my bed and baked some bread today. Otherwise just puttered around.
Tomorrow I see Dr. Toy, my chiropractor. Have some questions for him.
Quilt Guild is in the evening. So that will be fun.
Take care of yourselves.

Well, Bart was just not up to the trip to Wichita Falls today either.
I picked up lunch and went over there to have a visit. We like to do that and Nicky went with me. Nicky adores Bart and loves rides so everybody was a winner. He was a good dog and didn't pick on Jack, the cat today.
I worked a bit on the saint book and on the quilt on the rack today. The quilt on the rack is starting to seem closer to finished which always give me a push to work harder on something. We'll see.
I'll figure out how to get a picture of it when I am done. It is for my bed.
I am sore tonight. There is rain in the forecast so I suppose that is the reason. They are predicting a possible hot humid summer here, much like last year again. I was "promised" dry heat:( Does that mean pout? I don't want it to mean angry.

The trip to Wichita Falls was postponed until tomorrow.
So I spent the day doing my wash, working on my finances and on the two quilts that I am assembling.
Kept busy just fine. It was up to 80 degrees today. This will not keep up but the low 70s do not bother me in the least and we just may get some much needed rain in the next couple of days.

I would prefer to be able to say: "I am satiated.
What is given in this life, I have tasted."
But I am like someone in a window who draws aside a curtain
To look at a feast he does not comprehend.
When I draw the curtain, years from now:), I don't want to see an untasted feast!!!!!!

Today was very pleasant. It was in the 30s when I woke up but got up to the low 70s and was totall sunny with very little wind to ruin it. However, It is humid for some reason with no sign of rain and my joints, every blessed one of them ache. I used both cold and hot during the day and finally got some easing. I want to know where this dry hot weather that was supposed to really help my arthritis. (I'll probably regret that statement in a month or so:))
Went to the 9AM Mass this morning and then to Bible Study. We have a really busy study this time. It is the Eucharist by Fr. Mitch Pacwa. S.J. It is harder for us because it is a different format and requires a lot of referencing to the bible as we go along. So far, we have decided that we probably won't be able to do a whole chapter a week. That is OK because there is SO much in each chapter that one does not want to gloss over things. Lot of great references in both the Old and New Testaments.
Then home, for the rest of the day. Didn't really do much. Worked a bit on what I am sharing with Writer's Club. And did some preparation to assemble a quilt top that I have completed. I am still doing the hand quilting on the other one. This one I will have machine quilted or perhaps even try it myself. I do need to have my machine adjusted and serviced. Need to find out where to do that.
Tomorrow, Bart has to go to Wichita Falls and asked me to ride with him. A nice way to spend some time with him. And a break in the day.

A quiet but productive day. Except for seeing Dr. Toy, I was home all day. I needed the adjustment after the long drives but am coughing much less so my rib pain is much eased.
I talked to my niece, Suzi, today and we confirmed that we want to go to England/Wales on the CIE Heart of Wales and England tour starting on September 30. I am so excited. I will call tomorrow to get the reservations in.
My Suzi is quite the traveler this year. She just got back from Florida and on Monday is heading to Israel. WOW.
So nothing else exciting happened. Just worked on notifying my Lawton Celts about the meeting next week and sending an article to the CWI International for the Newsletter.
So I am still a bit tired from the driving and will go to bed to read and rest now. Nicky has already gone, I believe. He likes order in his life:)

I:M BACK!
It is not a bad drive from here to Plano. At least if there is no major contsturction. I got home in an hour less than it took me to get there, because my phone app (which for some reason has decided to work) took me a different way home than the way I went. I did not run into the severe construction - Denton is one big parking lot- that I did on the way down.
I can't tell you how much this weekend meant to me. Spending time with Nora, Leif, George, Betsy, Stenn and Bing is priceless. Then to get a boost of the Irish on tip of THAT! WOW. I think I will make it until at least April when I get to Wisconsin for the Wild Game Dinner (Family) and meeting with my friends ( Celtic Women included):)
I am a happy girl. I am so glad that Nicky does will at Bart and Barb's. He is a good by for them but does try to con Bart into special treatment. Barb says that he does not bother the cats too much unless I am there. I find that odd, but perhaps he feels that they are competition? Maybe someday he will have a kitty of his own and not be such a stinker. Jack (Bart and Barb's Cat) just lets him know who's boss anyway. P. S. The boss is JACK) He is a wonderful cat.
I got to hear my friend, Jeff Ward, who came to entertain at one of our Celtic Christmas Teas. I call myself his groupie. His wife loves that - we agree that every great musician needs a groupie. However, I understand, that my brother George said something to this effect. Oh she is his stalker. Not a stalker. Groupie is totally different.
Heard Behan and a group called Barrule who are mainly from the Isle of Mann. They even got me up to dance. They promised hugs. Then they tried to renege on the hugs:) So I called them on that and got hugs for me and all the others brave enough to go up and dance.
A great weekend. What can I do to bring the Celts to Lawton?

Tomorrow I leave for Texas and the fun with family at the Irish Fest.
I was home all day and am pretty ready to go. I haven't packed but have my clothes etc selected. As I am leaving shortly after noon, I am in good shape. Have Nicky's things ready to take over to Bart and Barb's on the way out of town.
It was a nice day today, in the 60s and not windy.
Richard and Brenda called tonight. We had a nice visit and will see each other next month when I go to Wisconsin for the Wild Game Dinner. Nora, Leif, George, Betsy, Stenn and Bing are all planning on being there also. THis is a banner year.
Anyway, travel tomorrow, Irish Fest of Saturday and drive home on Sunday.
So you will not hear from me until Sunday evening.
Be safe and pray for safe travel for me.

Friday I leave for Nora and Leif's and the North Dallas Irish Fest. Yea. I need an Irish fix.
I am going to have to be very careful. Driving doesn't bother me, but I have injured my ribs coughing so sudden movements are very OUCH. Lots of people are praying for a safe trip. So I know I will be OK.
Today was Ash Wednesday. I ushered at the noon service. As we had bible study at 10AM, I just left the study a bit early so that I could be greeting the early people. It was very well attended for a mid day service especially.
Can't believe that Lent has started already.
Sleep well.

Just got back from writer's club. The president is still speaking. I think he started at 8PM. It is just after 9PM
Writer's Club was productive. We had four readers which is always good. I read a memoir that I had uncovered and got good comments on it.
Was home really most of the rest of the day. My new lawn cutter came and mowed today. He figures he'll come back in about a month and WILL keep an eye out for weeds and fertilizer needs.
I am pleased. He is a retired vet and his wife helps him sometimes.
So it is my bedtime.Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday. I will be ushering at the noon service right after bible study. Then Dr. Toy at 3PM. I am going out for a fish dinner with a new found friend at 5PM so that will be a full day. Hope Dr. Toy can relieve the pain in my ribs.

It was a gorgeous day. This is the temperature and wind level that his just IDEAL. Unfortunately this is not what our world offers us.:)
I got to be home all day. I had a person come to offer to be the person who mows my lawn. Winter is drawing to a close. I cannot do it. I think I will be OK with the person recommended. He is retired and will be on a similar plane that i am on.
I cannot go back to last years person because Bart and Barb have dismissed him. Difficult but Life is what it is. I am new here and need to find vendors that will be good for me. Now and in the future.

I liked today.
Went to the 8:30AM Mass and donuts after. A good way to start a Sunday. It was pretty cold when I left home but warmed up nicely to the mid to upper 60s during the day. Nicky and I had a couple of really good walks.
My cold/allergies are better but I made a real point of staying quiet and resting so that my body heals. I went to the Salas Urban Cantina for dinner tonight. A gathering of those members who are participating in bible studies in the Holy Family Parish. Had a good meal and excellent company. Visited with people I know and met some new people.
Carl Sandburg said: "I am the people - the mob - the crowd - the mass. I'll probably die propped up in bed trying to write a poem about America."
I felt I should say something to edify you all tonight:) Until tomorrow.

A productive day. It was not cold and not hot. From what I hear, warm for this time of the year in Oklahoma, but what do I know as I have been her a bit over a year..
Things are getting "complicated" as to how "approach" Lend as a Catholic Christian. You know me, the worrier. I am trying to get my mind wrapped around it. What was wrong with meatless Fridays and fasting from midnight on until receiving communion? Are we Christians supposed to actually THINK:) Guess so. (Is there a symbol for "Heavy Sigh". I know that some of you are not Christians but I KNOW that your respect my right to believe or not to believe as I respect yours. Love me anyway.
Dr. Toy adjusted me today. My ribs are sore from coughing. He is going to adjust me on Wednesday before I head for Plano and the Irish Festival. He wants to send me off in the best possible shape.
I think getting away will be a good thing. Just a break from the daily grind.
I took Sy Regan's Psalms to Go in to be printed for my Holy Family Bible Study. Will Pick that up tomorrow and then send at the end of the week a nice check for Sy. He is a dear friend, My blind Irish woodcarver deacon and just plain friend and family history friend.

This is of course, my buy day, with bible study in the morning. I also had an appointment with Dr. Toy, my chiropractor, this afternoon, thank heaven. I have been SO sore and am suffering from either allergies or a cold or both. He told me to drink a lot of lemon water. I am doing that. Lemon water is very refreshing and if it will help my aches and pains and perhaps my allergies, I am grateful. I will see him on Friday for an update.
We finished our study of Acts today at bible study. As of Ash Wednesday, we will join the parish in
a study of the Eucharist.
At any rate, I have been sneezing and coughing like crazy and will drink a lot of that lemon water. I am exhausted to say the least.
Tomorrow I do not have to go any where and intend to pamper myself and hope to heal a bit.
Nicky will be glad that I don't leave him. He is patient but sees no reason for such treatment:)

Hi - I was just too tired to post last night. Being busy from Thursday through Sunday really took the sap out of me.
Sunday, I went to Mass in the morning, of course. Had coffee with my church friends, then came home and finished the Friday Chili for the Chili Cook off at Holy Family. Then during the afternoon a very severe thunderstorm came through the area. It thundered - It lightninged and it POURED. The Dish TV kept going off and on so it was hard to keep track of its progress, however, at 6 when I had to take my Chili to church it had died down a bit ( at least the thunder and lightening).
I didn't put my chili in for judging because I thought that chili with no meat and with pasta (Sheboygan Chili) would confuse the judges. It was one of the three chilies there not judged. So the non judges were able to get at it quickly. Everybody who ate it said that they loved it which made me feel good. Every drop was gone anyway. I gave some to Fr. Ron, who was at the judges table scoring. He does not eat meat chili so was not able to really judge. I had told him about my Mom's Friday Chili and he said that he liked it.
Got home at about 8:30PM. It was pouring again. One of the kids helped me get my crock pot out to the car. It was an altogether lovely evening.
Today, Nicky went to the Veterinarian for his blood test. His liver functions are pretty normal again, so he won't have to go again until he needs his heartworm meds renewed.
Bart and Barb invited me over to dinner. Barb fixed schnitzel 9(Nummy) They fed the missionaries tonight. Their church does that. They sponsor missionaries and the members take turns feeding them dinners. Isn't that a wonderful thing. Great meal and a great visit with nice meditations and discussions.
So I am glad that things were quieter and tomorrow will be also. My cleaning lady will be coming and Writer's Club in the evening, but manageable

Quilt Show again. I went over to the Coliseum shortly after noon. I worked in the Club Booth until closing at 4PM then stayed to help shut down until my joints got too sore. Barb was there too. She pushed herself too far also. Will we ever learn?\
I think I told you that she got an honorable mention ribbon for her entry. It was indeed beautiful. You saw it Leslie, Not the Abby quilt, the smaller one. She was so moved by the scores that she got. The judges were really good and she got nothing short of really great scores. The quilts this year were beautiful. Maybe I will actually enter one for judging in two years when we have our next show. I did have my President's Challenge, my Aunt Helen's Flower Garden (as an antique) and three wall hangings, my Celtic Saint trio, in the show just to fill space.
Tomorrow, the Knights of Columbus are hosting a chili tasting event. I am not entering for competition but will be bringing my Mother's Friday Chili for eating. I made it today except for adding the pasta. (Very Wisconsin or Sheboygan chili, as I call it. has pasta) I did not realize this when I was young. The only chili we had was Friday Chili which is more of a soup. In California, I got a great Chili recipe from my mother in law, Lili which is SO GOOD. And Dick had his own chili, as most of you know. ( He measured? What is that?) I make whichever suits my fancy as I love all three and they are in my cookbook.

It was a lovely Oklahoma Day.
I was home until 4PM when I joined Barbara at the Coliseum so that we could enjoy the Quilt Show as attendees. Barbara's entry got an honorable mention. So proud of her - it defitnitely deserved more. In my opinion. What a show. If you are in the area, please come tomorrow between 9 and 4 to see the spectacular pieces of art displayed for your enjoyment. I will be helping out from 1 to the final shut down. The first part sitting at a table, the last part, wherever they need me that I am capable of doing.
I also have to get my Sinner's Chili ready for Sunday, except for adding the pasta. I will do that on Sunday after Mass. The Chili Cookoff is Sunday at Holy Family at 6:30PM.

I spent the morning at the Coliseum helping the Wichita Quilt Guild get ready for their biannual quilt show. I had the pleasure of working in the room where the quilts were being judged and learned SO much about what is involved in judging and in what is expected. The judges are looking for perfection but are so intent on letting each quilter know what might improve their work.
Then I came home to find that my Celtic Club was down to two people. So I called the Center and cancelled it. I did to to Robbie's house for tea as it would have been her and me at the Center anyway. We had a nice tea and I gave her a Brat Bhride clothe.
Then I swung by the Coliseum to see if they still needed help. They were all set up which is WONDERFUL. The sooner done, the better.
Tomorrow, I have NOTHING planned. I do want to go to the show, Just as a visitor.

What a lovely day. It was not hot, not cold. The sun was shining for most of it. What more can one ask?
Went to Mass at 9AM then to Bible Study.

Just have to keep working on it.

A rainy cold day in Lawton. I understand that there was even snow, which did not stay on the ground and I personally did not see. I rained unto the evening.
Happy St. Valentine's Day. Barb's mom, Marliese, took the four of us out for dinner tonight, so it was a celebration and a truly pleasant evening.
Aside from that it was a quiet day. Good thing, I will need the rest as the next few days are really busy. My normal things (Bible Study, Celtic Club and a doctor appointment) and then Quilt Guild.
Anyway, hope your day was full of joy.

A lovely Sunday. Much cooler than the 90s of yesterday, but not too bad, except for a fierce wind.
I went to the 8:30AM Mass and visited at coffee afterwards. Then home until 4PM when Bart picked me up to go for dinner at Adam and Lexie's for Adria's birthday dinner. A lovely evening with great Italian food. I brought a dip for my share.
Tomorrow will be quiet except for the Quilt Guild meeting in the evening. A busy meeting, I know, as the big Quilt Show is this weekend.

We had a very warm day. My thermometer said 86 degrees. Very nice. A cold front is coming through so this IS an anomaly. And from what I hear, with my only one year of residency, very unusual. The whole area is under a drought advisory. No burning allowed. But. At least, we are supposed to get rain in the next week.
Tomorrow I will go to Geronimo for an Italian party for my step great granddaughter's birthday. That should be fun. I like contact with PEOPLE. Those of you who know me well know that.
I will be going to the Dallas Irish Fest on the weekend of March 6. I desperately need an Irish FIX. I am trying to make a place but this community is hard to breech. I am pleased with my Celtic Group. We are small but mighty.

The sun was shining again today and the temps were in the 70s. Nicky and I had a nice walk this afternoon. It was a little chilly this morning but no wind so that was OK too.
Was home most of the day. My house cleaner came, so I am set again. I had a couple of errands after she left but that was all until this evening. Writer's club soon. I will be leaving in about a half an hour for the meeting. Always good to have people to talk to in the evenings.
I have been working on my book. Not as hard as I should, but I have been back at it.

A bit warmer but still cold. Tomorrow is supposed to be spring like. I hope so.;
I was home all day again. This has its advantages but its disadvantages. I miss someone to talk to. But my privacy is nice. I would give up my privacy in a minute for a "voice" in the wilderness.
Got my taxes all ready to send to Mark. I love my Mark. We have known each other for over 30 years and I trust him to take care of me.
So Tomorrow is Sunday, The day of rest. How can I tell:)

I finally had a day at home. Now that evening is here, I am wishing for a "voice" but was still glad of the quiet day. The past week has really been hectic.
It was COLD. My Wisconsin friends will laugh at the high 30's low 40's being cold, but it is here:) Actually the wind was really strong this morning and Nicky did not want to have anything to do with outside until it got really light out and he was, I think, desperate. The sun was shining anyway, so we did get a walk in the late morning.
I am working on assembling income taxes. EEEWWWW. But I want to get things in motion as soon as possible. This year, I SHOULD get a refund. It was a very deduction heavy year and I paid estimated taxes too. Will there ever be a "normal" predictable year for me?

First: Happy St. Brigid's Day. If you forgot to put our the Brigid Cloth (the Brat Bhride) last night, let me know and I will send you a piece so you have the healing cloth in your home until next year:)
Second: I noticed that today is the anniversary of the Columbia Space Shuttle when 7 of our astronauts were killed in the explosion on reentry.
1986 was the first of the two great disasters, the Challenger. This is actually what got me back writing poetry. I will share that poem which is in my Fragments poetry chap book.
THEY SOAR
They soar.
We send them- Emissaries to the edges of the grasp of the planet.
They stride.
These heroes of our time
With joy and pride and courage.
With reckless abandon, they enter the capsule
And we fling them into the void.
We name them Astronaut-Cosmonaut
These names make our hearts and minds ache with pride
Because they are human - like us.
We thrill as they rise from the shackles of Earth,
Feeling as they rise, the thrill in the pit of our stomachs,
As they experience
The ultimate carnival ride-
A journey beyond the clouds-
A reach for God in his heaven.
They satisfy
Man's eternal curiosity,
His need to see a little further down the road.
We see them leave the womb of the capsule and float in the nothingness
On a man-made umbilical cord.
So Brave-So foolhardy.
We watch them walk on other worlds- with Giant Steps.
They talk of God, and of Pride and of Beauty that leave them breathless.
In view of the whole world and yet beyond our reach,
They perform their deeds in glory.
And sometimes our emissaries don't come back.
And we cry for the.

Hey. I am supposed to be retired:
I had WAY too many errands today.
The morning was quiet so I reminded all my Celtic Friends that they should put our their Brigit cloth tonight. The Brat Bhride. I know you all are familiar with this lovely Irish custom.
Then, my haircut appointment was scheduled for 12:30PM. After that, I had to go to DMV (they don't call it that here) to get new license plates. I find that annoying as I just got mine last February, but there you are. On the way home, I got my lottery tickets, groceries and some wine.
Whew.
Then tonight was Writer's Club. The book is selling slowly. I have over $9. in profits. Woo Woo.
Some reading, I shared the second Writers/Poets book from the SVU and Poets at Mead which I had lost but is now found.
So it is now definitely bed time. And Mary is tired:)

A warm Sunday. All the way up into the 70s. Nicky and I took a couple of nice walks today. This afternoon, we ran into my friend, Robbi, from up the street who is in the Celtic Club too. She was walking her dog, Mugs. The dogs got along just fine.
Actually, Robbi came over on Thursday afternoon for tea with me. It was an eventful week.
I took dinner over to Bart and Barb tonight. They were going to come here, but Bart was hurting so I took it there. We had teriyaki chicken wings and fried rice with steak and potatoes for Barb. I had make a berry crisp for dessert and a cabbage apple salad too. A nice evening. I like having people around to talk to.

I was home all day today.
My brother, George, called. We had a nice catch up visit. Weather and appointments permitting, we will see each other in April at the Annual Wild Game Dinner.
I, as a person starting a Celtic Women International Club, here in Oklahoma, listened in on a telephone conference of the Board Meeting of the International Group. It was so good talking and listening to all of my friends and getting caught up on what is happening in that world.
Tomorrow Bart and Barb are coming over for dinner. I love having company of an evening and feeding people:)

It was a quiet Friday. A bit quieter than I expected. Bart was going to come over to hang out but emailed me that he was not feeling well enough to come. Please pray for my boy.
I got a lot done today. It is amazing how life tries to infringe on us retired people:)
I did make a quick trip to Walgreens for a prescription and a couple of odd items.
My friend Peg Payne, called late this afternoon and we had the greatest visit. She will be at 52 Stafford in April when I am in Wisconsin. I hope that most of my Celtic friends can make it.
Have started gathering things for taxes too. No sense getting too exited but anything I can have a head start on makes the whole thing more palatable.
Guess that is all that was in the least big exciting.
Except. I am still having things happen as if my computer has been hacked. I am opting out of Facebook as of tomorrow as that was the source of the problems. My friends will just have to email.
Take care of YOU.

OOps. You guys are missing some blogs. I have a "sub" blog for the Celtic Women that I posted to for a couple of nights. Too lazy to repost:)
Today was nice. The temperatures have dropped, but it is not humid or too windy so it is nice. My joints are doing well.
Today, a friend came over for "Tea". Robbi and I had a great time. I fixed a couple of tea treats like digestives with cream cheese, jam and fresh fruit and Irish brown bread with tea. I LIKE teas. If you drop by and ask for a "tea" ( note the quotation marks), I will fix one for you. I promise!!!!!!!!
Richard and Brenda called tonight. So good to talk to them. I will be in Wisconsin in April. Hope to see EVERYBODY!!!
